After a hectic travel to Cusco and Amazon Rainforest, me and my wife wanted to spend couple of days at Ollantaytambo. Everyone said its not worth to spend more than 1 night over there and its mainly as a stop over on the way to...More
Our second time in Ollantaytambo and first time at Hotel Sol, selected by our nonprofit for mission travelers. Great choice, right next to the bridge leading to the main ruin and right on the river as well. The price is hard to beat, and the...More
Superb hotel to stay at the night before Machu Picchu. Private driver available. Take away breakfast for those leaving early for the ruins. Luggage storage available and friendly, english speaking front desk staff.
Large, clean rooms. Hot showers, nice breakfast.
Very close to the train station and the main square.
The young receptionist (with perfect English) couldn't have been more helpful and was very kind when one of our party was unwell and did everything possible to help,...More
A clean friendly hotel. They kept a light on in the courtyard that shines into the room at night. Takes over 3 min to get warm water. Internet is spotty at night. Noisy during soccer matches due to a TV in lounge.

We arrived at the hotel around 9:30am on our check-in date, and they let us register and leave our bags at reception but told us we would be able to access our rooms at 1pm. We had a tour booked at 10am so this didn't matter too much, but perhaps write to the hotel in advance? They might be able to accommodate if you reach out to let them know you'll be getting in early. Also, plan ~30min to grab your bags and leave Cusco airport, and another 2 hours to reach Ollantaytambo.

The breakfast typically begins at 6:00 am. However, if you have an early departure, they will kindly have a boxed breakfast available for you to take in the road or eat there. However, it will not be a hot breakfast.

"Rooms along the river are quieter. The restaurant Veronica accross the street serves really good food."
