Well, the hotel is not really bad looking but like a previous reviewer said "good hardware, very poor software" We arrived late (8:25PM) in Ollantaytambo because after our trip to Pisac in the city of Coya the crazy Christmas fiesta blocked the only road to Ollantaytambo. The miscommunication between the manager and the employee made our arrival a very rude... More

This compound includes the train station, restaurant and outbuildings that include the guest rooms. The original portion was built in 1925 by the British railroad. The grounds include a 3 acre organic garden the provides fresh produce for the restaurant. I'm giving this a four star because its so unique and views from the hotel are breathtaking. On top of... I can't imagine a more perfect place to launch our exploration of Machu Picchu. When everyone else gets off the train bone tired and facing a long walk and haggling over taxis or figuring out which bus to take, we just hopped off, freshened up a bit in our room, and slid into a beautiful table for a gourmet dinner... This unique accommodation fronts on the railway platform, so not only is it very convenient for the trains to Aguas Caliente and Machu Picchu, but my wife and I found it fun to see the trains passing by so close outside the reception area and the restaurant. The rooms are basic but clean and pleasant, arranged around lovely gardens. Although... More

The location of the hotel in Ollantaytambo train station was both a positive and a negative. Positive for those heading out early to MP, as it avoided the long lines. Situated on the actual train platform, we did not have to wake up too early. Negative for the smell that the train emits (exhaust from gas or diesel?). The train... More

The hotel is located in Ollantaytambo’s train station. First, it brings back my kid’s memories when I played train. Second, since the train for Machu Picchu is leave early, it is very convenient. Third, surprisingly, you do not hear the train since all the rooms are in the patio in the back of the main building. Then, the rooms are... More

Location literally right next to train station. Room are clean and roomy with awesome views. You will hear train noise early on weekdays, like 5:10am. Breakfast is good and the grounds are beautiful. Staff is friendly and helpful. Refrain from getting their box lunch for your trip to MP - they are overpriced and you can't eat food at MP... More

The hotel is located on the platform of the railway station in Ollantaytambo and has an excellent restaurant. Room 3 faces out onto the station and is the noisiest, as diesel locomotives and rolling stock clank and clatter past, but the railway activity stops around 11pm. The rooms located in the back gardens are quieter and very peaceful. Breakfast was... More

Can't get any closer to the train station to Machu Picchu - the entrance is on the platform. Still, we didn't notice train noises, even early in the morning. Dinner was delicious (as it was throughout Peru), but we were rushed for breakfast. Room was adequate (nice view of mountains), but bathroom was tiny - no counter space (there were... More

stayed overnight before going to MP. It is located on the train station, so very convenient to catch early train. But having said other hotels are just 10 min by walking. The room are spacious and nicely kept. Since we went in Dec the rooms given were not facing the station. Peak season you may want to ask for it.... More
