Loved staying at the Albergue! Nice big room, good bed, nice ambiance. Colonial style and atmosphere. Most kind staff. Asked when booking a quiet room, which we got, in the garden, and the ever passing trains from early morning were no nuisance. Our shower gave hot water, but was not the best shower I had...that might be the only negative...

The El Alburgue is perfect if you like convenience. It's located right on the train platform that leaves for Machu Picchu. It's a rustic hotel that has a friendly and helpful staff. Our room was in the back and had a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains. Our front window overlooked the train tracks. The food was tasty, and the service...

We reached El Albergue at the end of a long day in time for dinner at the restaurant. Wonderful dinner! We slept in rooms 1 and 2. Mattresses firm, rooms spacious, a little bit of a rustic feel, most welcome. View of distant glacier from the balcony in the morning was breath taking. Breakfast was great - I had the...

El Albergue was the highlight of our trip, hotel wise. It is a lovely hotel wonderfully located right at the train station set in a wonderful garden. The room we had (#14) looked out to the garden, we had little rabbits eating the grass right by our door (they are the lawn mowers here), lovely room with light on two...

First, the positives: the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the setting is fantastic - nice garden location with a couple of hammocks. Being right on the train platform is very convenient for getting to Machu Picchu - and it's a quick walk uphill to "town". But a few things left a bad taste in my mouth. First, one of...

Charming hotel in great location, but no heat or hot water, at least during our stay. It was cold and I didnt appreciate not being able to take a proper shower. Having said that, the room was charming, the setting very beautiful, and the restaurant very high quality.

Dear Guest, Thanks you for the kind comments about our landscapes and food. All our rooms includes in our facilities an electric heater and also additional blankets. In reference to the hot water, I apologize if you experience any inconvenience with this. Water pressure used to vary frequently during the season you'd been here, we already changed all our water...

The location for this hotel is great and the room is very nice (aside from the lack of hot water in the solar heated rooms), but what bugs me were the fees. There is a 10% service fee which isn't fully disclosed when booking the room, which is the first thing. Then, when checking out, I was informed that they...

Dear Timothy, We are glad you liked your room and the location of the hotel. Regarding your complaint about hidden fees, I'm very surprised as the only additional fee that we have is a 10% gratuity or tip, which is clearly stated in our hotel reservation policy which you agreed to at the moment you made your reservation. As to...

I could have spit on top of the train out the window of my room. This is actually a GOOD thing! El Albergue had all the atmosphere and was exactly what I was hoping for! I had a wonderful view of the train station activity as the trains passed right below my room. The room was large and very clean...

My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying with the El Albergue on our honeymoon to Peru. The staff was friendly, helpful and seemed to anticipate our every need. We were lucky enough to meet the owner's son Joakim, who gave us day-hike suggestions and also a wonderful glass of pomegranate infused champagne on the house. As for the...

Just spent the night at El Albergue on the way to Machu Pichu. Rooms are very nice and the food is excellent. We were fortunate enough to be there when the owner was there and as a result managed to tour the garden where the hotel raises much of its food. A really enjoyable stay!
