We particularly liked the information Karen gave us when we arrived - it was just what we needed - , the beautiful rooms and well-stocked kitchen, and the location in the old part of the city of Montevideo. We definitely recommend this to future travelers. It was like having your own beautiful, historic apartment in the middle of Montevideo.

Maud, thank you so much for the review! So glad you like the location! We love it too. And you can walk everywhere! Casa Sarandi is one block from the Colonial Square and Sarandi, the pedestrian street going through the Old City. The Old City is full of art galleries, antique shops, auction houses, enchanting book stores, quaint bars and...

Excellent place to stay in the old town of Montevideo. Felt as if one were a part of the city rather than a guest in a hotel. Great room, bathroom and use of well equipped kitchen (if required) and sitting room with the guests in the other couple of bedrooms. Very helpful and extremely knowledgeable owner (Karen) who makes guests...

Captain Tiki (how you made me laugh with this monicker!) -- "Felt as if one were a part of the city rather than a guest in a hotel" - this is EXACTLY what we want our guests to feel when they are with us :) Thanks so much for sharing. Greetings from Montevideo ! -- Karen and Sergio

Actually, we were delighted to be free of hotel restraints, to wander about with a cup of tea to our own timetable. Karen gave us a concise and informative package of information and was at hand for any further help should we need it, but it was all there, within easy walking distance, lots to see and do. The flat...

Wonderful old town apartment, within walking distance to plazas, banks, cambios, restaurants and museums. The owner, Karen, is a great hostess with extensive knowledge of Uruguay, places to go and things to see. The apartment has a modern kitchen, great bed and en suite bath. Wifi and computer available for your use. Stayed a week and could have stayed longer....

Fantastic three day stay! Karen my hostess was a mine of information about Montevideo. Where to eat, what to do etc etc Her own guide book was a wonderful addition too. A great buy with everything you need to know about Montevideo! The house is a charming 1930's house. I had a comfy big bed, with ensuite and even a...

Karen and Sergio showed me a wonderful time in Montevideo--I seriously wanted to extend my stay, but it wasn't possible... The house itself is in a perfect location in the centre of historic Montevideo, and is modestly but stylishly and adequately apportioned. The hosts were so full of information and suggestions--Karen has expanded her house manual to a full book,...

My husband and I stayed here for just two nights while travelling around Uruguay and couldn't have enjoyed it more! The owner, Karen, was an excellent host and had so many great recommendations for us. So much better than staying at a hotel because you get to experience the city from the perspective of a local. The Sirena room was...

Casa Sarandi is a wonderful guest house - The location is great, the rooms are spacious, and you'll find everything you need in the home itself, from cooking supplies to great wifi. However the real gem here is the host, Karen, an expat living in Montevideo for the past 15 years, who runs Guruguay. com. Upon arrival, she'll arm you...

This is a fabulous place to stay in Montevideo! A couple blocks away from the very center of town and only about 3 block from the spectacular waterfront! Karen is the hostess with the mostest! Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Sarandi is a 1930s style art-deco guesthouse and loft in the heart of Montevideo's Old City - the Ciudad Vieja in Spanish. The guesthouse is a block from the Colonial Square and the Cathedral and two blocks from Uruguay's premier theatre, the Solis and from the rambla - a 25-km long promenade, great for biking and running. The owners Karen and Sergio have lived in Montevideo since 2000, love the city and the national music scene and will help make your stay unique with their daily recommendations -most of which are walking distance-- for things to do, places to go, the most unusual places to eat and drink and the most interesting music and culture Montevideo should be more famous for. Karen runs Guru'Guay, a much-visited website on Uruguay, and now author of a best-selling guidebook "The Guru'Guay Guide to Montevideo". The guest house is very intimate - just two guest rooms. Both rooms have hardwood floors, antique furnishings and original art. Besides your guest room and private bathroom, Casa Sarandi offers a cosy living room and a fully-equipped modern kitchen. ... more   less
