Centrally located around the corner from plaza Independencia and the old town (mercado Del Puerto) is within walking distance, decent breakfast and helpful staff. Probably could do with fixing or replacing a few items in the rooms but for the price you'll be just fine.

This hotel has working walls and floors. The bathroom contains water. The breakfast is made of edible food. The elevators were not on fire. However the electrical sockets in our room were frankly dangerous and the air-con didn't work and there was a bunch of mould on stuff. Having said that it was *really* inexpensive, so I guess you get what you pay for.

This is a good hotel if you are willing to keep on a budget. There are no luxuries there, but you find a clean and cozy environment. The breakfast is simple, but good. There is free wifi, even at the room, which is not so common. Personal helpful and willing to keep it everything clean. There is a fridge inside and also TV with plenty of channels. The downside is that you can't change the language or add subtitles. The location is excellent. Near to many touristic places such as Cicade Vieja, Mercado del Porto and Plaza Independence. You can get to anywhere in Montevideo from here by getting only one bus.

I booked the hotel for a 5 day stay and had to leave after day 2. The room had mold on the window frame, shower didn't work, very old mattresses. The room was tiny... Impossible for 3 person. The breakfast( suppose to be included) had no cups, plates and almost no food left by the time we arrived. Talked to the manager, very polite, but just let us know that we were free to the leave. Ended up going another hotel 2 doors down, first time ever I changed hotel.

I stayed at Urban Express when traveling Montevideo with my sister and her baby and found that stay quite good for what you pay. The rooms were clean, the breakfast good and the staff was friendly. Also it was no problem being there with the baby.

They advertise airport shuttle service. There is NO airport shuttle service. It is a bald faced lie. They call a taxi for you the same as you can get anyplace!!! The lobby and eating area looks nice, and then you get to your room that has all the ambiance of a jail cell. The double bed is actually two twin beds pushed together so there is a hump where the beds meet in center. The door has no dead bolt or other safety device. There is no luggage rack so you must use the bed to open your suitcase. The shower is about two and a half feet square and they don't give you a bath mat. I ended up putting the lone hand towel on the floor to soak up the water which leaks from the shower. The sink has no trap which is illegal in the USA because the trap prevents sewer gas from entering. The room is just barely furnished with one tiny desk and only one bedside table, all of the very cheapest materials. Only one lamp is provided, none on the desk. Floors are tile, so they should be easy to keep clean, but I've observed the same dirt spot in the room for the three days we were there. They are very stingy with the toilet paper, not providing an extra roll and we were left with barely enough to get by and thought I'd have to endure asking the front desk for toilet paper. I could swear that the housekeeper simply folded up a used, dirty hand towel as if it were clean. It was dirty so I put it on the floor to serve as a bath mat since they don't provide any. They do have a tiny refrigerator and a hair dryer. The TV has no premium stations and twice I had to have them come fix it to work. The third time I figured out how to push the buttons on the back of it myself. The air conditioner in our traveling companions room dripped water on the floor and bed. Luckily he was alone and could use the other side of the bed. I booked this place because of the nonexistent airport shuttle and could have gotten some other place for less money. This place is the pits!!

Hotel is the cheapest for the general area. Centrally located. Rooms are clean but small. Staff is helpful. Breakfast was good. For the budget traveller this is a good choice in this section of Montevideo.

Arrived New Year's Day and reception were very helpful (the only time) second individual on reception was more interested in viewing his Facebook page on the reception computer! Rooms very basic (as anticipated) but much more worn and had the feeling of student accommodation. Breakfast also basic with a game of musical chairs - not enough seating for the numbers of guests. On the plus side it is in a central location with everything walkable (including the port if you arrive by ferry, about 15-20 mins).

I stayed in this place for couple of days this August (2014). The hotel is centraly located close to the main square, about ten minutes taxi ride from Tres Cruzes Bus Terminal. Rooms are generaly clean with helpful stuff at the reception. Breakfast is served near the lobby (a good way to sip a coffee and watch people passing by). WiFi is provided free of charge in every room. The problem can be a noise from the street in the night as the Windows are not sound proof.
