I base this review entirely on the backpackers accommodation, and not so much on the day time experience. When all the day-trippers and families leave the island to go back to the main land, a few of us backpackers are left behind to stay the night. All in one dorm. In the most expensive dorm of our entire trip around...

South sea Island is so small you can walk around it in 10 minutes. It is absolutely beautiful. Snorkeling is recommended here. You stay in a dorm which is all right, you get food in your stay- package, and all water sports gear (except scoops diving) is for free to hire. It was absolutely wonderful to stay here:)

It was a gloomy start which turned better as the day went on. Food was amazing and i did the boat ride which was cool. Then did scuba diving. My instructor was nice but didn't let me lead off as he thought I was "panicked and was scared" which I wasn't . I was unsure at first but once I...

Bula LifeasAsh123, Thank you for taking your time to review your experience with South Sea Island. It’s great to note you enjoyed your stay, the diving overall was successful and you certainly experienced a true highlight with a turtle hatching. This is the top on my list of all excursions we've done! Do the scuba diving if you get a chance. Saw our first shark and sting ray. Non stinging jellyfish everywhere. Saw tons of fish. Guide holds your hand the whole time so try it even if you are nervous. Apprehensive at first, the crew quickly puts you at...

It took 2 minutes to walk around the island. It was popular with day trippers, around 50 to 100 during the day. When we visited, there were only 12 people staying at the place, mainly backpackers. The island had a salt water pool, rented water equipments like snorkels/kayaks/paddle boards for free, a great buffet lunch, and a bar. The island...

Half an hour from the port. Great food. Lockers under the beds in the dorm. Very friendly staff. Had a kava ceremony which was great. Good atmosphere and lots of free things to do. The sunsets from this island were amazing.

South Sea island can be visited on a day cruise with South Sea Cruisers. Visitors spend about four hours on this island with basic back packer type accommodation. On of the attractions is the submarine boat.Part of the boat is submerged so that the sea bed can be viewed from the glass windows. For non-swimmers it is great way to...

I stayed on South Sea Island for 2 nights as my 1st stop on an island hopping trip. It's a beautiful tiny island about 25mins from denarau port & was my picture perfect idea of a dessert island. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Gorgeous little South Sea Island is one of the treasures of the Mamanuca Islands. Crystal clear waters, coral reefs and thousands of colourful of tropical fish surround the island. No one lives on the island; the only overnight guests are the travellers who find this a great spot to stop off on the way to and from the Yasawas. It's only 30 minutes by ferry from Denarau Marina, so nice and easy! A dorm with a large deck and sun loungers sits atop the open-air restaurant, built with a rustic island theme in mind. You can stand on the beach on one side of the island and watch the sunrise. Later that day walk (for all of a minute!) to the other side to watch the sunset! Pure bliss! It may be small in size, but there is plenty to keep you entertained. During the day, day-trippers visit South Sea Island from Denarau who bring activity and entertainment with them. South Sea Island FijiThere is a salt water swimming pool and non-motorised water sports equipment available free of charge. Take in the underwater world aboard the semi-submersible or get a taste of Fijian culture with a traditional Meke performance and craft market Monday to Saturday. South Sea is a great place to learn to dive. Expert instructors and clear, shallow water ensures your first dives will be memorable. The marine life and coral you'll see will amaze you and if you're up for it, you can take a dive on out to a wreck. Come the evening there is no more tranquil place to be - cold drink in hand, the lapping of the waves the only sound to be heard. ... more   less
