This place is the hidden jewel of real Fiji. It has a great atmosphere! It is run by a family and really excels at fantastic hospitality. The accommodation is beautiful and rustic and incredibly reasonable. Situated on the west of the island and far far far from ANYWHERE else, this is pure heaven. It will take you a few hours...

We spent a wonderful three days at Takalana. We visited seven years ago and it was just as good this time. Lovely food and great accommodation - this is the real Fiji and a great experience for all. Trip to Moon Reef to see the dolphins really fantastic. Lovely, friendly staff will make your stay truly memorable. Get off the...

I stayed here 3 nights. People is very nice and friendly. Always offering activities to do. The highlight is the trip to moon reef to see the spinner dolphins and to snorkel in the reef (you can do a day-trip just to visit it, totally worth and recommended to do if you have some days in Viti Levu). Moon reef...

There are couple of earlier reviews of Takalana Bay that you should totally ignore. They were written by people who should stay at some fancy hotel or stay at home! Specifically, I will address Pacificislander1's review... 1. "The place is secluded", correct - our reason to go there. 2. "not ideal for travelers with children or older adults", WRONG. My...

To start of we were here only for a day trip to see the dolphins and snorkel. We arrived and the people were really friendly from the get-go! The boat trip to the dolphins was smooth and easy (i recommend you wear a lot of sunscreen, hat, long sleeve shirt and pants because you'll burn to a crisp otherwise) the...

We booked in to see the spinner dolphins at Moon Reef through Takalana Bay Resort. When we booked we didn't realise this included morning tea on arrival, lunch, a hike to a freshwater waterfall and swimming, hole as well as the trip to Moon Reef. Great to get more than you expected. The dolphins were present - we guessed we...

Place is secluded not ideal for travellers with children or older adults. If you are coming for a day trip it's ok but not safe even then. Safety is their last concern. The boats that take travellers to see the dolphin's are not equipped for any type of emergencies and the food they prepare are not sanitary because I have...

The Takalana Bay Retreat is a well kept secret in the island of Viti Levu. Jay and his family welcome guests as if they were family so you can feel right at home. The property is family owned and run by the local community so you get to experience the real fijian rural life, learn about the culture, interact with...

After a 1 & 1/2 hour drive from Suva to get to Takalana we were pleasantly surprised by the scenery. We were a group of 10 people so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We went dolphin watching which was great and had a swim in the bay, swimming with the dolphins is prohibited. Two of the group...
