Delighted to have stayed at this striking landmark hotel the InterContinental Athénée Palace. Efficient service and the warmest hospitality felt valued by every team member, throughly enjoyed the Diamond Ambassador Elite benefits which made our stay brilliant. Our room a king one bedroom suite with a city view and balcony was immaculate, elegant style, comfortable, spacious, stunning oak flooring and walls decorated with some fascinating artwork. A beautiful bathroom with walk-in shower excellent sustainable full size toiletries provided from the luxury brand Byredo my favourite a gorgeous fragrance. Had exclusive access to the Club Intercontinental lounge where we received ultimate pampering and exquisite service delivered by Catalin and Florin they were committed to elevate each visit with genuine personal hospitality. Enjoyed a drink in the English Bar cosy atmosphere served by a lovely welcoming lady. Loved the morning breakfasts spent in Roberto's enchanting secluded garden whilst savouring some great coffee and delicious croissants, the service was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend, thank you InterContinental Bucharest for our wonderful stay.

Fabulous bed and pillows and the room is really large. The staff are helpful and the location is great. The building is grand and has recently been renovated. The rooms are sound proof and no noise from the street can be heard. Very helpful in booking transport to the airport. Very comfortable stay.

I just spent 4 nights at this hotel returning after last year when it was being renovated and I was extremely disappointed. Delighted at all the improvements and I had a very nice large and well appointed room. the bathroom was enormous and the crowning glory was the very deep tub! Everything had been thought of including a little night light that comes on in the bathroom when you open the door! The manager of the new executive a club was extremely helpful and I entertained important business clients there. €€€, good choice but some points of attention. We stayed here 4 nights in May 2024 in a Classic room with furnished balcony. The room is not large but functional with 2 chairs and a small desk with chair. The room has a minibar, a Nespresso machine, a watercooker and iron and ironing board. WiFi and shower are both excellent, although it is not easy to shower without flooding the bathroom. Lighting and the bed are very good. Probably the best WiFi ever in a hotel. Most staff members are friendly (one concierge is an exception) and helpful and they all speak good English. Breakfastbuffet is very good. For a 5* hotel they have several “opportunities for improvement”: used Nespresso capsules are not replenished nor is the laundry bag and form replenished, even after our request. Chromecast on the tv is not working and the entrance card of one of us doesn’t work.
At the end of our 2 week trip through Rumania we spent the last night in the fabulous King Ferdinand suite with a small balcony overlooking the square in front of the hotel. The suite is spacious and has everything you wish for: excellent WiFi, separate toilet, very good shower, good bed and perfect pillows, a minibar, Nespresso machine and water cooker and a iron and ironing board. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet is worth to come back for. There are several restaurants within walking distance and also a small supermarket is close to the hotel.

I stayed here one night during a busy business trip. So what I needed was a comfortable room to have proper rest and this hotel offered exactly that.
Our check-in was organized before we arrived, so upon arrival we directly went to our rooms. I stayed at room no 203. It was very large, with a very comfortable large bed and equipped with all amenities from coffee machine to slippers.
The hotel grounds from corridors to lobby were very chic and luxuriously decorated.
The only slightly disappointing aspect was the breakfast: when compared with the overall impression the hotel leaves, the options offered at the breakfast were pretty poor. Such a breakfast at a mediocre hotel wouldn’t be a problem but here I was expecting more. The same goes true for the breakfast room as well which was rather plain.
Nevertheless if I come again to Bucharest I will definitely stay here again as it’s also centrally located.

Stayed for a week at the Athenee Place on a work trip and loved it. The hotel very centrally located. The hotel is quote beautiful, with a combination of old-time grand and modern clean lines. The room was very new, large, and well appointed and had a very generous bathroom. The staff was excellent. They jumped to help and were very professional. I am a simple breakfast eater but the yogurt and fruits and fresh squeezed orange juice was lovely, and the waiters were great.
The hotel is quite pricey but if you are looking for an upscale stay, I would highly recommend.

Awful hotel. Amenities of 3 stars hotel with a price of 5 stars hotel. The room is full of dust and the air conditioner doesn’t work. As I ask the staff about the reason for that, I was answered that it is because of economical reasons that they decided to turn off the chillers!!! To pay more than 300$ per night and to sleep with a fan is a big shame!!!

Although our team tried to assist you, it seems we unfortunately did not succeed in meeting your expectations. As many parts of Europe, the outside temperatures in December were very mild. As we had colder weather during December, our HVAC system was set up for heating. During your stay, you requested to have the room at a lower temperature point. We offered to shut down the ventilation and open the windows, to cool the room. We do apologize that you still felt that the room was too warm and that the solution provided was not suitable. I stayed at Intercontinental Athenee Palace Bucharest in August and my stay totally met my expectations. It's only a 10 minute walk from the old town and right next to the Athenaum Forum. There are also many restaurants and cafes nearby. The hotel is very luxury and huge, and our room was amazing, clean and spacious, even had a living room. The view from the room was great and the bed was really comfortable. I was really happy with the Bal d'Afrique shampoo, body wash etc. in the bathroom, as it is a brand I really love and I haven't found it anywhere else. The breakfast was perfect with so many delicious choices, and the staff was the kindest, always taking care of us before we even asked. Finally we enjoyed the pool a lot! I don't think that there is any other hotel like this in Bucharest so I totally recommend staying there.

From the moment I set foot in the Athenee Palace in Bucharest, I was surrounded by a genuine warmth and welcoming ambiance.
I would like to mention one staff member in particular – Izabela, from Roberto’s. Every interaction with her was marked by her genuine care, attention to detail, and anticipation of our needs. As well as the rest of the team, which was welcoming and ready to assist us.

Sorry, I made a mistake, it's farther from Bucharest to Bran. We went to Bran from Brasov. I would estimate a high amount for a taxi. Would suggest driving with a rental car and overnight stay in Brasov.
There are more places to choose from in the Bucharest area.
