Amazing stay from beginning to end. Location is A1. Pool is simply amazing with a to die for view of Panama city. Coktails were delicious and lots of variety. Spacious and well-designed rooms and the most comfy bed. Breakfast were very good with lost of choices. Yes it's a pricey hotel, but worth every penny in my opinion. What made this hotel very special to me was the staff. They will go on and beyond your expectations to make sure your stay will be an amazing experience. Their imput on where to eat, what to visit were fantastic. From front desk to the restaurant, the staff is one of the best I've encountered. The restaurant downstairs, not own by the hotel, but so near that you end up going, is super good, with lots of choices, just don't accept any tours that the waitress will suggest as it's a scam. But this has nothing to do with the hotel. I very much recommend W Panama. Thank you so much for making my trip one to remember. Alexandra …
This place is so nice, retro, clean, and just all around beautiful! If you go please find Isaac and tell him hello for me. He’s fabulous. He even asked ppl to walk us to a nearby restaurant. I’d love to go back just to see Isaac Housekeeping was on point as well. The pictures are accurate! There was a surprise party thrown for my aunt. It was lovely. The food was great and so were the staff!
This is a beautiful hotel. I was impressed with the staff< cleanliness, the decor, the room design, the bathroom...it was everything we could want in a hotel suite. There was a mildew smell in the hall though that got pretty bad. It didn't penetrate the room, but whenever we left, it was quite pungent. Breakfast was included, which was filling. overall, I was happy. The location is in the city, so don't expect to be close to any beaches. Uber service is very quick and inexpensive there, but the drivers are wild (you were warned). If I go back to Panama, I'd stay here again, but if they have one near the beach, I'd go there first. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and the amenities! I took photos, but they only echo what is on this site. It was beautiful.
Not what I expected! Overall the hotel is good, but the room and atmosphere were disappointing. Stayed during NYE. Cons: Having stayed at other W properties - this was a let down. I didn’t like the sink in middle of the room, like a divider between the bathroom and bed. The bar & drinks were just ok - no life, drinks watered down at $15 each!! The walls are thin!!!!!!!! Walkable …but most all of the restaurants, bars, clubs closed down. Pros: The property is modern, clean, great service! The bed is comfy, great bathroom towels. The rooftop view is great, pool is open 24 hours. David (concierge) knows EVERYTHING! Easy walk to water/bay.
I was traveling on a friends trip where we stayed at a resort for two days then we came to the W for the last three, so we could visit the local attractions. When we got to the W and the stay there was nice, but the pool and jacuzzi was closed for construction or renovation. I wish that was mentioned beforehand we would have changed hotels, but at the last minute that was difficult to change with such short notice. The pool/Jacuzzi was one of the main amenities while booking the stay. They offered to take us to the JW and back, but that defeats the purpose of the easy access, and imagine how uncomfortable it would be traveling back and forth in wet clothes. For the inconvenience they gave me and five of my friends ONE drink ticket each, which was not a valuable accommodation. The Staff was otherwise very nice and pleasant, but I would probably stay somewhere else when I go back to Panama next year. …
CONS - AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE - PAPER THIN WALLS - NO PROPER RESTAURANT FOR DINNER - 0 APPRECIATION/BENEFITS FOR BONVOY AMBASSADOR ELITE MEMBERS PRO - SPACIOUS GYM Granted co-workers had warned me NOT to stay at this property after their recent stay, I decided to go against my better judgement and do it anyways because I am not only a loyal Bonvoy Ambassador Elite Member to Marriott International but also a huge W Hotels brand fan. And DO NOT LET THE NAME FOOL YOU! This property is FAR from any W Hotel standards. One comes to expect after years of loyalty to Marriott that properties always check the status of their arriving guests in order to prepare for their top tier arrivals such as Bonvoy Ambassador Elite Members. The attention to detail beyond a friend smile and acknowledgement during check in, one is accustomed to the best available room (away from elevators, on the side of the building that’s quiet, sides with the least possible traffic and so forth) and a small welcome gesture upon arrival at the room. To say the least none of that happened at this property and I was actually treated as if I was at used car dealership…actually maybe I would have MUCH BETTER service at a used car dealership. Booked my stay weeks in advance and upon arrival I not only got assigned a room directly across the elevators but was greeted as if I had just walked in off the streets as an employee. No acknowledgement on status, short and unprofessional- a complete disinterested in me as a guest. Unimpressed I returned to the lobby and express my disappointment that they hadn’t taken the time nor interest in any effort in proving time with the best room and was switched to the room next door. Little to say, that wasn’t any better. The walls are PAPER THIN and you can literally hear the people in the room next door the entire day/evening. Please see the video uploaded. To make things worst they put me on the side of the building with the pool, in which they have a DJ on weekends including Sundays and you guessed it woomp woomp all night long into the early mornings. Checked only for other rooms and they had plenty of inventory available. Returned to lobby the next day and spoke with Paola requesting to speak with a manager in regards to my experience so far. Her response: “He is not here, if you want to try again tomorrow?” I was speechless! Seriously? Why do I, as a guest need to go on a while goose chase to speak to a manager? I am floored at her response and complete lack of professionalism and customer service! She back tracks, said his name which starts with an Y and that he would contact me the next day. Needless to say he never did. Went back again 2 days later and realized that he was just the W Insider and not a manager. As I am explaining the situation he interrupts me and gives me his business card saying it’s better that I email him my concerns and he will “forward” it to the manager. Right?! Like I would believe him?! If he didn’t have the decency to listen to me in the first place and not interrupt me, do you think he would forward anything? Of course not. The entire staff of the hotel is extremely rude and unprofessional. The restaurant staff will drop the check during the breakfast as one is eating or in the middle of a conversation which is EXTREMELY RUDE! I have never been to a “luxury” hotel where they bring the check without being asked, just very unprofessional. They have NO sit down restaurant for dinners at the property! Only breakfast was offered at the restaurant. The icing on the cake! Call Whatever/Whenever and told them that I would be going to the gym for two hours and I would like my room cleaned in that window so that I could come back and relax in the room after the gym. Spoke with Alexis and his response was that house keeping will clean the room when they get to it. I said, I understand what I am asking as I call Whatever/Whenever and as a Bonvoy Ambassador Elite Member is that my room gets cleaned first (if needed) on whatever rotation they have in place - surely this is doable. His response: “el nivel no importa” “your status doesn’t matter” and that’s when it became clear to me that this property HAS NO APPRECIATION for Bonvoy Ambassador Elite Members, they are the most unprofessional, inadequate and worst W Hotel o have stayed in. This property is damaging the hood name of the W Hotel Brand, not only for what it stands but also that it comes with. I am SHOCKED Marriott International would allow such a property represent them but then again Marriott International was the WORST THING that could have happened to Starwood Hotel and Resorts. BE WARNED! You money is appreciated else where in Panama City! Much better properties to choose from, even if you decided to stay within the Marriott International chain. Will never return! PS. It’s been over a month and still have NOT heard from management. And as we all know, everything start from the top. 0 accountability 0 professionalism 0 respect 0 attention to detail 0 care…
My 5 star rating (partially based upon the price paid): 5 = Exceeded expectations 4 = Met expectations at the right price point 3 = Would have met expectations at a lower price point 2 = Would not have engaged with the vendor but wouldn’t dissuade others from doing so 1 = Would not have engaged with the vendor and would not recommend others doing so either I would actually give this hotel between a 3 and 4 ... Here's my summary Check in - 5 stars Check in was smooth. We arrived around 800A and thought we'd have to wait until 300P for a room but they had one immediately available. Beyond what we expected. Housekeeping was 5 stars Luisa, our housekeeper, was superb. She went beyond the call, organizing our footwear, putting some of our wet clothing near the window where it would dry faster. Placing our robes on the bed, ready for us. She kept the room in spectacular condition. Room was 4 stars Comfortable bed and bedding, ample shower, separate WC, good view of the city, spacious closets, clean and came with bath robes. Also, pretty good toiletries and good amount of towels. Breakfast was 3.5 stars Breakfast was a nice buffet with many options, well cooked and tasty. The team was friendly and attentive ... all of this as expected. But, it was pricey at around $30 per person Gym was 5 stars The gym was much better than what one would expect in a hotel. It contained not only good free weights but a variety of machines that one might only find in a regular gymnasium Pool - NA / JW Marriott Transfer - was 2 stars The pool was under repair during out stay. The hotel provided free transportation to the JW Marriott for a pool session. While transportation there was free, we had to pay for the return. However, W did reimburse us against our bill. Spa was 4 stars We were pretty impressed with the service we go from the Spa. We had a number of treatments and all went as scheduled and expected... very relaxing. Overall the hotel met expectations, exceeding them with housekeeping and the gym but overpriced with the breakfast. We would still recommend this hotel since it is centrally located with a friendly staff and comfortable accommodations. …
Meh. I had read some reviews about the lobby being hard to find. The lobby is hard to find. A guy sitting at the valet desk downstairs aloofly pointed me in the direction of the elevators. Luckily someone else suggested that he get up and help me find the elevator. The lobby is on floor “LB” - ok that’s two letters in the word but the elevator is so dark that you can barely see the buttons (or maybe I’m just too old for this joint - I’m 40 and refuse to wear glasses, which I need). Check in took longer than it should have - I had checked in through the app - yet the mobile key didn’t work and to get room keys took three signatures - for what? You have my credit card, just charge it. I was upgraded from the “Fantastic” suite that I had booked to a “Marvelous” suite. The suite is stunning. And I’m not complaining now, and I didn’t complain then, but I would have liked to have been told that my “upgraded” room didn’t have a balcony, one of the things that I find Important. But in this case the room was so, well, marvelous, that I could live without. (For a time, I’m staying at the JW Marriott on Monday - and leaving this room empty - a vacation staycation, I suppose.) There are a few other strange things here. The pool is closed currently. I may have been told that but I don’t recall. There is one bar / restaurant for dinner. It’s a retro place, with very decent (well, great) food, but they take the retro too far - packets of salt and pepper and ketchup and mustard? To their credit, when I sarcastically asked whether this was a picnic the server came back with proper accompaniments. A couple other things. The shower is very slow to drain. So you’re standing in puddled water for a moment - I don’t care but I imagine some people do. The curtains and lights are manual, unlike other W properties that I’ve stayed at, so you have to turn them on and off and open and close them yourself (I know … the horror! And the twice daily housekeeping takes care of it in the evening).. The room is a little banged up generally. The giant jetted tub felt like it was glued into place by young man who had just drunk half of a bottle of Elmers - I’m sure it’s fine it just felt very cheap. I was woken up at 6:30 AM on Saturday to people working in the room next door. Apparently they didn’t want to wait until a reasonable time to start working. This all being said the staff have all been extremely kind and they are clearly doing their very best. It’s just a few unforced errors that come from a management level. I wouldn’t stay here again. But I’m also glad I did stay here this time.…
Great location, great room, average staff, terrible breakfast! Left some Ipods in the room and the ''Guest Experience Expert'' Paola wanted $250 to mail them to me!! Should have read more reviews before booking. Won't be back!
The bedrooms are good, the breakfast good, the rest was a shambles. It is simply not possible to have a quite chat in the hotel after 5pm, a constant disco in a very dimly lite bar proved to more akin to a dinghy nightclub as oppose to a reputable W Hotel. Other than breakfast the food was disappointing and average at best. Do not use the mini bar in the room, a small chocolate bar cost $6 Guests partying between 4-6 am at the pool area didn’t help, get a good nights sleep. The hotels practice of putting a hold on accounts which exceeds the bill by hundreds of dollars is simply wrong, when challenged they simply shrugged their shoulders and said it will be refunded the following week, that’s tantamount to theft. A shambles
