We stayed in Selina Casco Viejo for 4 nights. It is a wonderful place to stay. We had a deluxe room which had a big bed, spacious bathroom, a little terrace to view the bay from and the bedroom aircon was very good.
The food in the bar on the ground floor and the 6th floor terrace was delicious. Some examples were the burritos, the various filled tacos, power bowls and omelettes. Of course the mojitos and coffee was really good too.
I enjoyed yoga on two mornings with Andrea. She is a great instructor and very good with beginners. The perfect way to begin your morning in panama. This was one of the many free activities that Selina offer on a daily basis.
For information for other visitors. It is a busy place so give yourself time to wait at reception and there is loud music until late at weekends. We didn't mind that as we knew this before we arrived. There are ear plugs at reception for those that want them or I found listening to spotify or watching netflix till I drifted to sleep worked well.
The location is perfect for walking around the old city with many many shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. There is a tattoo and body piercing salon beside Selina also.
If you are coming to panama don't miss the opportunity to stay here.

My friends and I stayed for 1 night at the Selina Casco Viejo across multiple private rooms. Location is perfect. The rooms were simple, but clean, and the shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water for all four us. The staff is very nice and helpful. And the rooftop area is fantastic for both day and night. While you can hear the music in the rooms, they offer free earplugs at the front desk, and overall it really didn't bother anyone much. We are all in our mid to late thirties and were a little wary of staying in a hostel this late in life, but everyone agreed we'd do it all over again. Definitely recommend this Selina property for your stay in Panama City.

The hostel has so much to offer - pool bar, roof top bar, pool, chill area. The rooms come with toiletries which is refreshing after 4 months backpacking! Selina is also one of the best bars in the area, my only complaint would be that it feels very commercialised with the tours that are quite expansive considering what they are. The walking tour however is a great activity on offer, totally free and you don’t feel obliged to give tips (although of course we did as the tour was great!) We did the walking tour with Kobi, it was so much fun, the way he explained the history was more like telling a funny story - and he had SO many facts! Overall really happy with Selina and would recommend to anyone visiting Panama City!

I’ve been always a fan of Selina’s experience concept and I understand that at the moment with all this COVID situation, all become more complicated for business.
However, I believe, in this times, when a business decides to open its doors to costumers, should do it properly, taking care about the service and facilities, even more, when it’s prices are above the average in the market.
It was a series of unfortunate situations that leas me to write this review. The first one, because Selina app at the time I made my reservation it was doing some strange things at the moment I had to choose the dates of my stay, my booking dates were wrong and, my mistake, I didn’t check it in the email. Then, the day of the check in, by my mistake was for a day before my arrival and I try to contact for a complete day, through the app chat, some one in Selina to inform them about this problem and check if was possible to make a change with out any charge,.... nobody answer that day!! The following day, more than 18 hours later I receive an email from Selina’s team and help me around the situation, however the no show charge was on the front desk. I appreciate they didn’t charge me the no show after I complain for the lack of answer in the chat, but they try to do it.
Then, the room, the cost per night was $60 plus tax,.... I never received the invoice of that with the tax.
In the room we found the floor was dirty in some places and wet in some corners, the shower curtain was dirty too, the vanity had some uncleaned areas with toothpaste signals from the previous guest, I think, and the toilet it was super insecure from the floor.
Then, the community kitchen was very unclean with lots of small cockroach around the sink and the few dishes they had, no coffee pots to prepare a single one, it was strange, that is not Selina’s standard.
I went to the restaurant in the top and I know this is not run by Selina, however, makes a similarity in the way they also don’t give a “fiscal” tax receipt when you ask for it.
If you open, you need to be ready, otherwise, take tour time and open properly when you can.

First of all, if you're looking to stay in Casco Viejo, this hostel is not in a great location-- the center is a ten minute walk, so not too bad. The rooftop has probably the best view in the area, but the service is beyond awful (totally forgot I ordered food, ignored me multiple nights). The standard private is ridiculously small for the price, you can get a way better Airbnb. Also the bathroom is gross and the shower curtain literally fell down while I was showering. I went to the front desk to ask about a tour to Soberania and the guy apologized, it was too late to book...I asked who booked the tours (because o haven't seen anyone at the desk) and he got nasty with me saying it was him. Then I told him about the issue with the shower curtain and he asked me if I had anything else to complain about... It was really upsetting to me to have someone speak to me this way! Later my boyfriend went to inquire about the tour and he told him it wasn't available anymore? I also saw some people going through really crappy stuff transferring to venao, they were trying to shove him in the trunk of a minivan and he was arguing with employees about having paid for a seat. It's not undoable but I would never recommend someone stay here or stay here again, no way

I think this place is going for "shabby sheek", it gets one of those right....! The room was clean and tidy, everything is "distressed" looking and vintage-y, which normally I'd like but it didn't feel like a particularly high quality finish to be honest. Maybe I'm just a snob. Anyway it was OK, the bed was comfy and huge, the shower worked well, the bar on the roof had good views and the location is pretty good, right in Casco Viejo and no more than 10 minutes' walk from the good stuff. The area is well worth a visit, and there's probably worse places to stay.
Overall I didn't like the vibe, I'd definitely put it in the "trying too hard" box. If you're young, and mummy and daddy are financing your travels, you'll probably love this place. It's trendy. There's a record player in every room (no decent records though), a rooftop bar, and they can sort various services for you. Wanna travel the caribbean? They can sort a (overpriced) transfer to another of their hotels out there. Wanna do yoga in a photogenic environment? Get to the roof! Or the beach by some trees. Wanna tattoo? They can hook you up with the parlour upstairs, no problemo. These things are all advertised on various posters around the place. They're basically selling you the full authentic travel experience in a very inauthentic way. Might suit you if trying to squeeze a year's worth of "finding yourself" into a few weeks. Also this is probably the loudest hotel I've ever tried to sleep in. They hand out earplugs at check-in! Probably should have taken that as a warning. There were parties on every floor as far as I could tell, plus noise from the rooftop bar and the street outside. Yes I'm old, it wasn't for me. I'd probably have loved it 15 years ago though, so knock yourself out

I was impressed with check in and the overall amenities the place offers.
Just came from Selina in Cancun and this one much better even though the Cancun one upgraded me for free.
Bike rentals, coffee shop, a nice kitchen and great vibe.
I went to the 6th floor rooftop bar which has a million dollar view.
Bought two beers. The first purchase I never got my change back, and the second one I just gave it to the women. No big deal, but just keeping the change was kind of a drag thinking how many others that person does that to.
Or give him the benefit of the doubt and maybe he forgot.
The shared bathroom had no paper towels when I arrived on Thursday afternoon and still none when I awoke at 8:00 am on Friday.
I loved the electronic locks and the bedding was incredible especially what seemed to be new pillows.
My coffee superior, but at $3.00 a coffee I just could not afford a second cup.
I had two issues which I hope are addressed;
First, my plane was canceled in Charlotte with not enough crew to staff the plane.
They made an announcement that two flight attendants could not fly with both coming down with Covid. That being said, I missed my first night at Selina.
When I checked in the girl already knew my name as the reservation was flagged so I would not be a no show.
I asked her if I was charged for the first night and got a no, but It appeared with body language that the girl really didn't know.
I hope that someone is reading this and that there is no charge since what happened to me was related to Covid. I had a late flight and ended up sleeping in the airport.
The second issue was rectified as I am writing this.
Pretty impressed with the place.
I will follow up with another review to address what happened to my complaint, and if it was taken care of.

I stayed here with low expectations, however I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and space in the rooms. My wife and I booked a private room, it was spacious with a fantastic ensuite and plenty of storage. The roof top bar is worth the fee alone, great views out over the city, a nice but small swimming pool and cheap beer and tacos.

Only minor criticism was that the staff were a bit slow at reception and the food in the downstairs bar was a bit meh but other than that well worth a visit if you are in the old town.

Julie and kobie were the most helpful staff i have seen in a hostel. They were attentive to every demands. They were always smilling. The hostel is very cleaned, has awesome decorations but the best part is the roof top bar on the 6rh floor with an amazing view of panama city
Definitly recommend it

We arrived on the 3d of February, our room was a 100 dollars which is so expensive for the room we got and we didn’t even got a room that looked like what we took on the pictures.
It was dirty, super noisy until very late at night. Some guys were drinking booze in the common kitchen and yelling until really late.
We tried to change and we were willing to pay for an upper category but the girl at the front desk told us there was no other room in a better category… I checked on the internet… and of course a better room was available…
The common bathroom was dirty as well.
I highly recommend you to find an other place to sleep !
