From previous reviews I did see that some mentioned it was more of a business hotel rather than your bog standard all inclusive hotel. The hotel was extremely busy with various conferences happening from groups all across South America but it did not affect us except that we were unable to get a room with a sea view. The rooms are spacious, the shower works great compared to the other hotels we stayed in at in Panama. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful which makes your stay. A big shout out to all the bar staff, Gloria in reception and Carolina in the Pacifica restaurant. It was not automatically offered by reception, but when asked we were offered 2 tickets to use the a la carte restaurants. The chicken lollipops at the Asiana restaurant were delicious. If you are going to use the spa and are taking advantage of one of the packages which offers access to the thermal area, just check if the amenities are working. The hot pool was scorching hot and there was no way you could put your foot in it without getting burnt, a safety concern for sure. The steam rooms were not working and the sauna was not so hot so bit of a waste. we did complain and got a 10% discount of the spa package. The only real complaint I have about this hotel is the interpretation of "all inclusive". If you wanted to order an americano or latte it was included, however if you wanted a macchiato you had to pay for it! Same ingredients? Also there was a separate coffee shop with an ice cream parlour, again not part of the all inclusive The beach is a disappointing but great to see all the ships lined up in the canal, i counted 28 at one point. Overall a lovely hotel, just wished everything was included in the all inclusive deal.…
Overall this is a very nice resort, very well run, it is very beautiful and it’s nice to be on the beach is a place to the crowds in the city. There were a few minor problems along the way but luckily Iris at the front desk solved every problem or issue that came along! Without her, my review of the stash might have been much different and much lower, but she is very efficient courteous and knowledgeable. Thank God for her excellent help! Other than the bad weather, which comes with the territory, when you visit a hotel in Central America in August lol, everything is fine at the Westin Playa Bonita.. keep up the good work, I will be sure to visit again in the future!!
This is a huge convention hotel with 611 bedrooms and caters for large company conventions/meetings. Whilst the hotel is very busy with guests, food and drink, all included was a great attraction. The staff were amazingly attentive, kind and thoughtful with a desire to please. We were allocated a room overlooking the forest which was lovely and huge with all the amenities you could want. It was spotless everyday. The pools by the beach were inviting as was the the very clean beach. It was great to watch the pelicans diving into the sea for the supper and the horizon filling with ships ready to go through the canal. There are several restuarants to choose from with different styles of cooking, some good some just plain awful. Buffet style food served served everyday with enough to feed the entire country. All told a reasonable and very comfortabel stay and great value. Go stay there.…
Very nice hotel. Nice facilities, restaurants, pool, beach (at high tide) etc etc. However, I experienced awful wifi connectivity in my room which made it very difficult to be productive. The connection dropped every 30-60 seconds. I know this because I was using VPN and I kept on getting a message that VPN had connected successfully. I also had to reconnect certain software apps I was using each time the connection dropped. I was here for a mix of business and pleasure (50/50) but I would not stay here again due to these issues.
Service was amazing - from the house staff (Ms. Barbara) to the restaurants (ALL of them) to the Guest Services (Linda) to the Pool Side (again - All of them)! Not sure what else I would have ask for. Food was great - Fresh - Facility was very well maintained - Beach was good - small but cleaned every day and good - Pools were excellent, also, cleaned every day extensively...
The good things: very beautiful hotel, very clean, everybody was kind and nice. The food was very good. Amazing breakfast… Estefani González is an amazing person, she was always looking for us to be confortable and she advices us in a lot of activities we did inside and outside the hotel 👏👏👏👏 The pools are big and good vibes. Nice activities like club dance, karaoke, aerobics and others. The gym was very complete!!! Loved it. The bad things: we bought our “all inclusive” plan through the “booking” company. We arrived to the hotel and it happens that the “all inclusive” was NOT included. And the company didn’t specify that with us before arriving. As well the communication with the hotel was difficult. The people that answers the phone doesn’t give good information or advise. …
We called a day before about a daypass to use the pool. They told us it would be 50 dollars a person. We could not make an reservation, we should just show up at the counter. Today we showed up. The people behind the counter were very unfriendly. They told us that it would be 100 dollars a person. They said we could still book it online for the 50 dollars, so we did. Then we went back to the counter and they first told us that there was no availability at all. We asked for the manager and then he told us he could make an exception. ‘Just’ for 85 dollars plus taxes (so 98 dollars) we could get in. There was no room for a decent conversation and for a hotel of this size, this should not be the way you treat people.
We stayed here for a week in one of the suites. Great room- great view! Staff was very nice. It is a bit isolated, as there are no stores nearby. There is a gift shop, but with limited amenities. I had to take a $30 taxi to get some cold medicine. Uber's are scarce here- most don't want to drive all the way to the resort. Taxis into the city will run you $30-$40. There are 4 pools, however, none are designated as an adult pool. I spoke to the manager about the screaming kids, but he said they no longer have an adult pool, so there's nothing he can do. The resort allows locals to purchase a "day pass", and that seems to be the source of all the kids. The restaurants are good- definitely choose the a la carte at Tierra y Fuego or Asiana. Good wine lists (not too expensive for bottles). Overall, a great resort, minus the kids. …
We enjoyed our two day stay because it was warm and staff were friendly. But the hotel needs some significant repairs and pool food was disappointing. Brunch was great. Executive Lounge food was mixed.
I learned about this hotel from Trip Advisor and recommended by friends. It is indeed a destination hotel. There is nothing (shops, banks, etc) close by. Anticipate having a car or use Uber/taxis (it is very difficult getting Ubers by the hotel, plan on expensive taxis). In many aspects the hotel is wonderful. The staff are very efficient, accommodating, helpful and friendly. Our room — a king size bed overlooking the ocean was very nicely decorated and comfortable. The view was breathtaking. We ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel most days. Service was good, and what we ordered was delicious. We ate supper at restaurants in town. Panama has great eateries and I recommend exploring the various cuisines. The pool area is huge — Four pools and a large beach. We were there the week after New Year’s. While it was busy it wasn’t crowded. You can order food and drinks from staff l, if you can find one (or go to the beach bar hut). However, for a resort of this caliber, staff should constantly be floating around getting orders and serving, Don’t expect to be served on the beach. The outside of the building needs a paint job and needs to be refurbished. There’s peeling paint in some areas. Also, same can be said for the outdoor furniture. It needs to be changed out. Some chaises and tables need repair . All in all a good place to get away and a 20 minute Uber/cab ride to town…
