Older hotel and it’s clean and pleasant, but could use some updates. First off this hotel sits adjacent to two towering condo buildings which overlook the pool area. It’s always full of tourists with only two SLOOOOW elevators (one more than the other). Most rooms overlook the water - but when it’s low tide, it looks like a mud flat and facing the water means FULL sun. Restaurant is okay, not great, and service always seems lacking. The fitness center is on the cramped side, it’s dark, and could use some newer equipment. The pool area is great but you lose wifi reception beyond the entrance area and having food/beverage service is a hit or miss. Lastly, while central, it isn’t that close to other restaurants or bars, and you have to cross a busy street which can be a pain if you happened to get caught in a rain downpour. …
The hotel is nice with a beautiful view. I give it three stars because the floor entrance to the workout room is a different level to accommodate a door opening. I fell and cracked a bone in my foot and was told several people have fallen before me, and they have not fixed it.
We stayed for a week in this wonderful hotel. As an Intercontinental Ambassador we were upgraded to the Royal Suite, which was simply amazing! We had views towards the ocean as well as to the city. The room was big, and well equipped. We had also access to the Lounge. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic the lounge had restricted access, ie from 6 to 8. However, the assortment was really good. Delicious food, great drinks and wonderful ambience. Eulices was a great host, kudos to him! This hotel os strongly recommended.
This property since a new low for the Intercontinental brand. While at first appearance the property does appear to be of Intercontinental standard it must be remembered that this property was initially not built as an Intercontinental but rather was taken over after the previous property owner decided to change brand. At first view the lobby and principal areas are bright, clean, and well maintained. There was, on check-in, more than adequate staff to assist, however, the receptionist clerk was anything but adequate/honest in describing what was included by way of charges. The main dining room which offers both buffet as well as menu service is bright, however, the background 'canned' music is loud causing the patrons to try and speak over the noise of the music which for people who don't like to shout makes a conversation almost impossible. The food presentation on the buffet was mediocre often with some of the chafing dishes remaining empty. The food on the buffet is best described as mediocre. Food ordered from the menu was equally of mediocre level, at best. Inside the guestrooms the bed was comfortable, and the Internet worked flawlessly. So much for the positives! The ventilation system when it came on was noisy. The television system was difficult to navigate. In the bathroom there was no stopper in the sink and the faucets was not properly secured to the same bowl – but rather it rattled. In the water closet there was no rubber slip mat in the bathtub shower and the surface of the bathtub was slippery. A great deal of work needed to be done to attend to the problems with the caulking on the tile services in the wall. Towards the bottom of the bathroom door the trim he had come off and, on the door itself on the inside the door knob was loose – that is it was hanging on the door rather than being properly secured. The string that was to be used to allow patrons to dry clothing in the bathtub was badly frayed. There was no capital to boil water for the making of tea, and, on the second night of our stay the room attendant had not bothered to put teabags in the small dish to be used. The 'Nespresso' coffee maker worked on the first day but on the second day it exploded. When a call was made to ask for replacement the answer was one would be set up soon – but it never came! …
My stay (for business) was good overall. The best part of this hotel is the staff - everyone was friendly, helpful, and really wonderful. The room really needed an update and repairs - old, broken blinds, heavy, dark wood furniture, and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. The dining room also is very outdated and they blasted old New York music for some strange reasons. Location-wise, it is ok but not too many good restaurants in walking distance.
Good location. We spent limited time at the hotel given the tours we had planned. The property is gated. The room was good except before checking out we noticed some black mold on the ceiling in the bathroom.
This hotel has always had the the very best service. It is led by a n excellent General Manager. Indeed, I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 17 years and it has never disappointed me.
Check in/Front Desk The chap that checked me in was awesome. I even mentioned a helicopter ride and he went out of his way to get me some quotes. Great chap Rooms The rooms are fabulous spacious with amazing views. Only thing that let the room down are the quality of the towels. After coming from another intercontinental the quality of towels was from a 3 star hotel Swimming pool I love love it. Spacious and lovely pool. One thing that was disgusting was the threadbare towels that you wouldn’t even get in a one star hotel. They all need to be binned Wish it could open at 7 not 8am Breakfast The one thing that lets the whole breakfast experience down is the eggs. They can’t cook a sunny side egg up. I asked for 3 eggs every morning to be runny. I get eggs that have yolk smashed and overcooked. Not runny at all. It’s easy to cook and egg. The juices are not freshly squeezed but from a packet. This is more holiday inn than Intercontinental Overall I love this hotel.…
Our honeymoon was just outstanding at the secrets, they welcomed us with champagne and we met our butler Darling. I didn’t know the methodology of the hotel since my husband planned everything and I had no idea where we were heading, so for me having a person to take care of us during our vacation was awesome! Darling was always taking care of us and he send us a letter to our room with romantic decor to celebrate our honeymoon. Our favorite restaurant was the french Restaurant and Geraldo was great, he invited us for lunch next day at the sea grilled (i don’t remember the specific name). Geraldo was waiting for us there with Dominican sancocho, rice, fried plantain, habichuela, beef, chicken and salad (one of my fave meals during our vacation there. By the way if you have the chance to go to hydrotherapy DO IT!!! That place is more of what you can expect and you can also book a massage with Wanda, her hands will reset your life! We loved the place, enjoy the activities(specially kayak) definitely we’ll be back to “casa” and see “familia” again…
Positive first, rooms are clean. Everything else terrible, worst breakfast I ever had in Panama, bread tastes old, eggs cold, food quality is at a level of a village cantina. Do yourself a favour and book a stay at the Riu Plaza, same price, but awesome panamanian breakfast, fresh made and tasty
