This is definitely one to put on the list if you like birding, or just wildlife in general. The hotel is not super luxury, but is spotlessly clean and the staff are really helpful. The food is good and wholesome, and very tasty. It is a really quaint setting and layout, due to

This is a great place for anyone interested in the biofauna of the surrounding forest and also for history buffs interested in the amazing transformation of a former radar tower owned by the US military to an eco lodge. Rooms are comfortable (not luxurious), food fresh and home

We had an interesting experience at the Tower. We really enjoyed the birding trips in and around Soberania National Park and saw over 130 bird species in 4 days. The guides were very knowledgeable, not just of birds, but the mammals and general environment as well.

I visited the Canopy Lodge for a two and a half day birding package. They also offer different tours outside of birding. Let me begin by warning you that this is definitely a birding safari. If you are a serious birder this is it. Our guide Alexis Sanchez was very

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about your stay at the Canopy Tower - we really appreciate your review! We hope to be moving away from the need to provide plastic water bottles very soon, in hopes that all our guests will bring reusable bottles, and of course, drinking water is provided on all tours and in dispensers at the Canopy Tower. Congratulations on so many great bird sightings and we are happy to hear you enjoyed the birding tours. We hope to see you again in Panama!

Greetings and thank you for your question. Generally no, we are not open for general admission to the observation deck, primarily for the privacy of our guests. The best way to experience the Canopy Tower for a day is to come for a day visit, which includes breakfast and a guided tour with one of our bilingual naturalist guides. Please contact our office for more information on visiting the Canopy Tower.

Dear Kathy & Doug, thanks for your question! Malaria and Yellow Fever have been absent from the Canal area in central Panama for decades, so there is no need to take malaria tablets and yellow fever vaccination is not required (however, check restrictions if you are coming from other countries where yellow fever is present). Other general travel precautions are best discussed with a travel doctor prior to your trip.

We traveled extensively through Central America last summer and saw a trip doctor before we left. They said that if we stay at high altitudes in Panama and/or near the canal zone we didn't need any vaccines. We did however get malaria pills and yellow fever vaccines because we were also going to Guatamala and the mountains of Belize. I do recommend, as others have, that you get the Hepatitus A/B. We had gotten those several years ago. Also, make sure you are up to date on things like Chicken Pox and measles. If you can, see a travel doctor before you leave since these recommendations change all the time.

"We stayed in Harpy Eagle Suite - very pleasant, with en-suite facilities."
"January is a good time to go for species diversity, but it can be pretty windy."
"The Blue Cotinga Suite is much larger and better equipped than standard doubles."
"Private bath in harpy and blue catinga suites. All rooms are good."
"With a full house every sound reverberates. But worth it for the jungle and birding experience."
