We spent 10 days at the property in January 23 and we had a good time but there were some issues. The pros and cons are as follows: Pros: It is a beautiful place with large rooms, all facing the Pacific Ocean. Because of its unique alignment, you can watch both the sunrise and sunset from the property. Staff was friendly and helpful up to a point. The action of the tide on the beach was very dramatic. Cons: Although close to Panama City, it is a bit isolated and the cost of a taxi to the city is US$25.00 each way. Staff told us Uber does not go there but that is simply not true. The cost of Uber to the city is approx. US$6.00 each way. Probably the biggest issue was the absolute chaos at the restaurants. They were fine at breakfast and lunch but when it came to dinner, Wow. There are 4 restaurants on the property along with a couple of cafes. These are Bordeau (French), Portafino (Italian), Oceana (seafood) and the Seaside Grill. The Oceana was closed for repairs so the seafood menu was transferred to Bordeau and sometimes to the Seaside Grill. The French menu just simply disappeared. Anytime we inquired about it, it was going to be in 3 days or next Sunday or whenever but it never did show up. There was general chaos in front of these restaurants each evening with people trying to find out what was happening or trying to get their name on a list. The menu at Portafino was limited and monotonous. Perhaps we stayed too long. The other thing that bothered me was that there wasn't a single bottle of rye whisky in the entire establishment. For a place that supposedly caters to a significant number of Canadian guests, that is hard to understand.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I am going to tell it the way it is. So buckle up this may be a bumpy ride. I want to do this in order of my title so the Good. The grounds are a 10 plus. Well maintained nice view of the coast and the countless number of ships lining up to go through the Panama Canal. The Beach is Not too bad just be careful of the rocks on the beach. I say to wear water shoes, just to be on the safe side. Some parts are good, just beware. The Bad. Not the fault of the hotel but the process coming into Panama customs whas a nightmare. The took over 2 hours. They fingerprint you take your pics. It was very, very slow. Then the bus ride again not anyone's fault but that took over 2 hours because of traffic a road closure. We were tired since we were up at 3am and got to the hotel at 9pm. So tired we just went to our room Now let's do a little ugly. Our room smelled like mould and our bed DIDN'T have a bed sheet. and only one towel and believe me what I am saying. Our room was not very clean. Dust, crumbs and no bed sheet. Disgusting. We did not go to complain just went to bed... The Good we went on 3 tours all were fantastic Indigenous tour was amazing loved it Rain Forest and monkey Island Tour was amazing. But the stop for us to eat was OMG so good. I will get back to the food later. Old city Tour and Panama Canal and a movie narrated by Morgan Freeman in 3D was excellent also was very nice was the hotel where they filmed James Bond. 5 Stars... The Bad The food was really not that good. It was average. Some items were to salty while other food items was tasteless. So what I don't like is... Well the breakfast if you want a fresh omelette, the lady placed dollar bills for tipping. No one carries cash and she did not speak english. Also she uses a ton of oil, no other options and she slaps it on thick yuck... I did finally broke down and complained. I spoke to a Carlos and he referred me to Ingrid. I know they tried to make my stay comfortable. But I know that this hotel is in a transition change. I can tell. Less staff or not well trained staff. I know this place can be runned a lot better. The Bad I went to the French Restaurant and well it is not French except the French Onion soup but that was horrible. What was really bad. I was refused entry for wearing open toe expensive shoes. And not a button down shirt. I ran to change quickly thinking the food was going to be great. Instead it was so bad that we left and went to another restaurant which was only a little better. Why do they concentrate on etire. They should put more effort in quality of food.. The Ugly My wife had dozens of bites on her legs. I swear they may be bed bugs but I did not get any and we were always together. Also the Ugly when leaving we found a place where mold was forming. On the drawers, the sides had mold. The Good Ingrid she really tried her best to accommodate. Always checking up on us and always asking if we need anything. The Bad Do not use there driving service. Although he is very nice you pay 5 times more. Use uber it is only $5.80 to go to town I was charge $25 I would not go back here unfortunately my dreams were not all good ones. the place is safe the entertainment sucks If all you want to do is drink and lay by the pool then this is your destiny. Pool staff are very friendly and always eager to get you a drink. Not sure who is taking this place over but they can turn it around. With great leadership and better food... So I will give them 3 stars overall but if my room was better maintained and the food being better and also taking more care of the inside like cleaning the glass doors. Well then you will be in a much better category

After reading so many of the negative reviews & comments about this resort, we headed down with very low expectations. Wow, did that change in a hurry!! There is nothing wrong with this resort. Is it a 5 star? No. But is it a 2 star? Also no. My gosh some of the people just love to complain! You had us second guessing our decision to book here. Remember that not only did Panama suffer tremendously through Covid (24% unemployment now....to begin with), but almost all resorts have. Our room was absolutely fine. Our view was just beautiful! You can see all the ships lining up in the distance, waiting for permission to enter the Panama Canal. The food was fine, the booze was fine, and the staff was exceptionally fantastic! There were 17 of us that travelled here together (including our amazing travel agent friend), and not a single one of us was disappointed. The staff couldn't do enough to make sure our vacation was great. This resort is conveniently located near Casco Viejo. The Panamanian culture experience was fantastic. You can take an Uber ride there for about $10 or less. We loved it so much that we went more than once! The rooftop bars and the restaurants are absolutely amazing. We highly recommend Casablanca restaurant. Wow....so good that we went twice! There's so much to see and do there. Ask for some recommendations at the Customer Service desk. There are beautiful old buildings there, and some of the insides of them will shock you at how gorgeous they are. Walk around and enjoy the sites and shops. Stick to the brick roads, was the advice we were given. We felt very safe. There is also a huge shopping mall about a $5 Uber ride away from the resort. So there's lots to see and do. Go see the sloths at the back of the resort as well. We looked for them daily, and saw at least 5 different ones. And Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, they host a disco downstairs! We had a blast there as well. Bring the right attitude, and don't forget your Sunscreen & Bubba cup! If you've booked here, and you're worried about the negative reviews, relax. If 17 of us all agreed we'd happily return, and that we had a fantastic time, so hopefully you will too. I'll attach some pictures of the resort, as well as some taken in Casco Viejo.

We recently spent three full days at Dreams. My husband and I had a great time during our time here. The resort is on the smaller side which we liked. We stayed in an Oceanfront King Preferred room. The view was beautiful and the room was kept quite clean. The pools were all very nice and well maintained. The food options here are a bit limited compared to larger resorts, but we had no trouble finding things we liked. The staff was accommodating and kind all across the resort. Our only negative was the outdated fitness facility, but we made it work. Overall I would definitely recommend this resort!

The food could have been a little better at the buffet, but the French and Italian restaurants were great! Excellent service from the housekeeping staff, to the bar staff to the pool staff. Not so over-crowded and pool chairs and/or beach chairs were never really an issue for us. Watching all of the boats lined up, awaiting their turn to enter the canal was always interesting. We took a sightseeing & canal tour and had quite the learning experience. Uber to town for less than $10. US Dollar is the most common currency in Panama and accepted by every business. Good restaurants in town also and casinos too. Great time had by all!!

Just got back from our vacation so I will give my completely honest review. We had an upgraded room on the 5th floor so we found the room clean and well maintained. I found the resort comfortable with gorgeous views, staff were friendly. Meals were good to excellent depending on your choice. I was extremely happy to have the upgraded room which includes the private pool and bar area as we were not travelling with children. In the other pools and bars that were not in the upgraded section, I immediately noticed a difference, they were always crowded and even the deck chairs and towels were better in the preferred section. Only minor complaint is constant issues with the elevator not working or sometimes working but this isnt a big deal as there are only 5 floors. The nite life entertainment at this hotel is really lacking, one day pretty much nothing, one day karioke, depends on when you go so on most nights we left the resort after dinner. Would I call this resort 5 star luxury? No, but it is a beautiful resort.

Dreams Playa Bonita is a five-star hotel close to the capital with its own beach on the Pacific Ocean coast. I mean it should be a five-star hotel but unfortunately it falls far short of the standards one would imagine for a five-star hotel. Indeed the hotel itself is only a short drive from Panama City. By car it's less than twenty minutes to the city and forty minutes to the airport. The hotel which is surrounded by high walls and dense rainforest is located right on coast of the Pacific Ocean. Upon arrival you will be greeted by a friendly porter who will help you with your bags. Upon entering the hotel you'll find the hotel lobby where there is a bar and two reception areas. One reception desk for V.I.P. clients and then a second reception desk in the form of three small desks for other guests (most of the hotel guests) with only one usually working. The positive is definitely that the staff speaks good English so it is not a problem to get along here. Unfortunately this cannot be said about the rest of the country and other hotels. Rooms: Unfortunately the rooms do not match the five star hotel and the price they are rented for. The amenities are outdated, damaged or not working. The cleanliness is not great either. While the bathroom is quite spacious with two sinks and a convenient shower it is in the same poor condition as the rest of the room. Some of the furnishings are rusty, there are missing screws elsewhere and the whole thing gives the impression that no one cares. The only positive of the room is the beautiful view of the garden and the ocean with the sun rising over it. The garden: The most beautiful part of the hotel is definitely the garden. The garden is well maintained the grass is green, palm trees everywhere and plenty of space. Walking through the garden and spending time in it is pleasant. The only thing missing are benches or other seating. Ocean: The Pacific Ocean is very calm in this area. The beach is sandy, but there are plenty of rocks and rocks as you enter the water. The water is not crystal clear, mostly cloudy with sand. However there is no rubbish floating in the water and no plastic. The disadvantage here is the irregular tides when the ocean leaves for several hours during the morning or afternoon even several hundred meters from the beach making it impossible to swim in it. Pool: The hotel offers two normal swimming pools and one paddling pool. For V.I.P. there is a third private pool. The main pool is kept clean. Unfortunately this cannot be said for the pool where there is also a water bar. The water is polluted and one gets a rash just thinking about stepping into it. The opening hours of the pool are from 7am to 7pm. However it regularly happens that the pool attendants decide to start cleaning the main pool at 8am and with their speed of a racing snail only open the pool after two hours of cleaning around 10am. At the moment when for example the tide is out you don't really have the option of swimming. The pool should be cleaned out of hours. Hotel facilities: The toilets are kept clean. Each toilet does have a different flush and again something is missing or someone hasn't fixed something but it doesn't bother you. The problem is with the toilets by the pool. The shower doesn't work in the men's toilets and the urinals don't flush. Of the several outdoor showers only one works and it's a question of how much longer it will work. Food: Food is the sad chapter of this hotel. We will start with the best and that is the breakfast. A great selection of savoury and sweet. Lots of fruit, juices and excellent coffee. Lunch is served buffet style in the outdoor restaurant. Here it's a bit worse. The meals are not as good and of good quality and the desserts are practically the same thing over and over again. It doesn't offend but it doesn't impress either. Really bad here are however the dinners. There are supposed to be three restaurants in the hotel (Portofino - Italian, Oceana - Fish restaurant, Grill - Grill restaurant) and V.I. P. Bordeaux restaurant. In reality there are only two restaurants. In the worst case only one works. Portofino is always open and most of the time so is Ocena. Bordeaux was only open about twice during our stay. The Italian restaurant Portofino is a tragedy. You can practically only eat appetizers the rest of the menu is terrible. It has nothing to do with Italian food at all. On top of that the menu doesn't change at all so you have no choice after a few days. Oceana fish restaurant cooks much better. The food is good, but the menu doesn't change here either and stays the same. So you will also run into the problem of not having a choice here soon. Entertainment: There is no point in commenting on the entertainment at the hotel. There are activities during the day like archery, kayaking etc. As for the evening program it sucks. One night is karaoke the second night is disco and the third night is saxophone. Unfortunately the musician can't even play the saxophone properly and it's more of a pain than a joy. Staff: The pride of this hotel is definitely the staff. The staff are helpful, friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you in every way. What's wrong? What's wrong is that the hotel presents itself as a five-star hotel. It's not a five-star hotel and it's not up to European standards. It is outdated, unmaintained with very poor food service. At the same time the hotel is hosting weddings and this means increased movement of strangers in the hotel. Occasionally the restaurant closes for a wedding and you as a hotel guest will miss out. Also parties of people come here just for the day. They man the bar and bathe in their clothes. This is simply unacceptable for a five-star hotel. The hotel is in an amazing location virtually secluded and twenty minutes from downtown Panama City. The amazing location, private beach and perfect staff unfortunately can't quite make up for the shortcomings. Bazén: Hotel nabízí dva normální bazény a jedno brouzdaliště. Veliký výběr slaného i sladkého. Spousta ovoce, džusy a výborná káva. P. restaurace Bordeaux. S Italským jídlem to nemá společné vůbec nic. Není to pětihvězdičkový hotel a nedosahuje evropských standardů. Úžasná lokalita, vlastní pláž a perfektní personál bohužel nedokáží úplně vyvážit nedostatky.

Nice welcome to the resort. Checked in early. Very clean and well maintained property. Room was perfect with nice bedding and large pillows. Balcony overlooking water. All inclusive drinks was a nice selection as well. Food was just ok. Two restaurants to choose from but nothing special for the selection. The pool area is very clean and the bar staff very efficient. We checked out late for a fee and were able to have a few extra hours by the beach. I was not expecting an all inclusive resort to be so organized and lovely. Would recommend and would return. Proximity to Panama City is convenient for people wanting to explore downtown. The hotel also offers tour packages.

If there’s a positive thing that I have to recognize about Dreams Playa Bonita is the kindness and helpfulness of most of its staff. Regarding the rest, things were quite bad. Food is quite terrible and mellow. The buffet by the pool is very limited and the food is quite tasteless. It took a long time for someone to refill the food containers that were empty, cold, or all crushed out because of all the people that served before. The chilaquiles and pancakes from room service were absolutely tasteless, or with a bad flavour. The portofino restaurant has a very limited menu, and although the portions were quite small, the food was alright. Drinks were sometimes served with way less liqueur, syrup, or flavour than usual, which made them flavourless or tasting strange after a few sips. The room was alright, however the AC filter was not clean, which made the room feel damp and humid all night. Me and my sister woke up coughing and with a sore throat every morning. An air purifier was provided on the last night, however it did not solve much. The fitness center and spa are outdated, with some machines broken or damages , and the spa with many deficiencies and rooms not being operational. The spa is extremely expensive for what it offers. The hotel doesn’t offer many activities to spend the day and is very outdated. Although we had planned on staying on the hotel the three days, we preferred to go out and do the activities and tours, and eat outside as much as we could. We paid almost 300 dollars per room per night, and the quality of the hotel overall was not even close to what it should have been for what we paid. We later stayed at the JW Marriott in Panama City. The room rate was cheaper, even adding the meals that weren’t included, and the quality was a thousand times better than at Dreams Playa Bonita. It is pointless that they have staff nonstop trying to convince you to buy Dreams memberships and timeshares, when with the quality the hotel has, the only thing you want is to leave. I hope things improve soon.

A very nice place with great food, friendly staff and a large pool. The staff are very attentive and make the experience fun. The food at the restaurants is very well done and nicely presented. And lastly, the bar staff do a great job and take care in preparing drinks - not always the case at all-inclusive resorts.
