Detailed Reviews
This hotel was wonderful! We weren’t sure what to expect from other reviews so we were cautiously optimistic but pleasantly surprised! The check in attendant was very friendly and welcomed us right in. Our room was large and comfortable with excellent amenities. We had a mini fridge with freezer, a microwave, a small coffee pot and a large desk. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and we could not hear any noise from the outside, surrounding rooms, or the hotel hallway. The shower was large and had great water pressure which was adjustable. We were able to access the room from the outside but it also had a door to the inside hallway at the hotel. I liked being able to bring my things directly in from the car. The pool areas were only open until 9, which I feel should have been later like 10 or 11. That’s my only complaint though! The natatorium was hot but it felt good when getting out of the pool. Make sure that you have slip on shoes as they have a slip resistant floor that’s not easy on the feet. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling through Augusta!

The staff at the front desk were some times a bit less the an friendly and didn’t say hello or bother to give you eye contact. Hospitality is about being good hosts and you can’t do that ignoring guests. Not everyone was like that. Some odd things that happened included an7 am fire alarm when it was raining - apparently false alarm from the spa. There was a knock at the door and Maintenance guy just walked right in but was actually in the wrong room. Wifi devices caused a strange security alert with my laptop that made it so I could not use the wifi. The front desk had no clue where wifi was, but I found in the hallway and recognized the brand name associated with the security certificate that kept popping up.
I enjoyed the sauna and pool. The food was decent but the brick oven pizza wasn’t available so much so never got to try it. Breakfast was provided in a paper bad including a fruit, waffle and a yogurt. Cleaning of rooms wasn’t provided - you had to drop your towels outside the door. I guess some of the oddities could be chalked up to

Senator inn is in need of some refurbishments, rooms dated and could be painted. Bathroom has some mold around the tub shower area, old towel from previous guest was hanging on the back of the bathroom door. No housekeeping service provided during the stay, you can mark up what you need on a door hanger that is laminated but no way to do this with a normal ink pen.
Staff was friendly and helpful.

The Senator Inn and Spa.
This hotel is not an inn, it’s an “out”because as soon as you arrive at the inn you want to get out. I tried to leave after 30 minutes after arriving, but I made the mistake of booking this “outing” through Travelocity and it was impossible to get credit or a refund from the bots at the other end.
As soon as I arrived it took me 20 minutes to check in/out the extensive delay of the receptionist explaining the most ridiculous instructions to the guest in front of me. Example, Make sure you have a cozy night sleeping next to the window, wear comfortable swimming trunks to the pool, don’t forget to wear your slippers when walking around the room. What? What? Are you kidding me.
After finally checking in/out they charged me twice on the both credit cards they had on file, and I’m still waiting for a $1000. Credit after 3 days. Then I began walking down the hallway towards my room and you sense a smell. I don’t know what it is, but it stunk. The key cards they give only last 12 hours and you have to return twice a day to receptionist to get them re activated.
To open the room door when the key actually works you need to bench press 250 lbs. to get it open. Because it’s heavier than pushing a slab of marble 36 inches.
While we were in the room, we had two drips coming down on top of the toilet for 36 hours so you had to use an umbrella to go to the bathroom and walk on two inches of water for 36 hours in the bathroom.
There was a power outage on our floor on Monday morning 10/9 starting at 8:15am, it is now 10:00 am and it’s still out. The outdoor stairs from the 2nd floor to the parking lot are both rusty and slippery. I can go on , and on, and on, but I spent as little time at this place as possible.
Unfortunately, the three days at this “out”are not in accordance or go hand in hand with the beautiful state of Maine or the city Of Augusta where it’s located. It is difficult to enjoy this gorgeous part of the northeast when you have to stay at this “out”
Again I repeat, I’m not masochistic, I tried to leave the first day I arrived, but was told I wouldn’t get a refund from the non-human Bots at Travelocity. So I had no choice but to stay here. Do not make the same mistake I made.
Don’t stay at this inn/out. Don’t let them charge the extra $200.00 for incidentals, you’ll have a hard time getting it back. Don’t smell the odors which take away from the beauty of the surroundings and excellent foliage in the area. Don’t be patronized by a person in reception with nonsense. Don’t stay in an “overpriced “Out” When in Maine, you have so many other choice Inns.

Don’t stay here if you want to eat at the hotel. No food at all available in the evening. “Breakfast” consists of a first come first served granola bar and a coffee. At over $200 per night this is appalling value. The Cloud 9 restaurant has been closed for months – staff shortages apparently. The management has had plenty of time to organize a skeleton staff to do breakfast, or to serve sandwiches in the bar in the evening – but nothing. Also the rooms are showing signs of wear, the television system I found weird, and the rooms are not serviced daily if you stay for more than one night. When booking none of this is obvious. The hotel advertises itself as a “full services hotel”, and you can book a room without being made aware of these problems. You need to go to the “dining” tab to find out that the Cloud 9 restaurant is “temporarily closed” but there is nothing to say that therefore no food at all is available. Having said that the spa is fine, the staff are charming and doing their best under very difficult circumstances.

Stayed at Senator Inn in Augusta for the first time this weekend. My mother suggested it because of the pool and spa (we are steam room vs sauna kind of people!). We enjoyed our time while there. The customer service was impeccable from the front desk ladies to the spa folks. Sandy, the sweet lady cleaning the restaurant, was a love! The men cleaning the outside pool wanted to be sure to get it cleaned out ASAP so we could use it immediately. We LOVED LOVED the salt water pool, hot tub, and naturally the essential oil infused steam room.
Disregard the naysayers. The price reflects the hotel’s dated appearance. It was one of the least expensive rooms in Augusta. The spa accommodations price off the street is $25 per day (I was told by someone using it off the street). The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and our experience was pleasant.
We will be back!

From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed and cared for. It seems that every single employee wanted me to have a memorable and satisfying experience. While perhaps not the most up to date facility, the Senator has character, and comfort.
I stayed in the king size suite. Very very spacious, fireplace, jacuzzi type bath, separate room with seating, desk, frig, microwave, etc. Bed was very comfortable!
The spa had such a welcome, calm feeling. My massage was amazing and the mineral pool was awesome! It is all glass enclosed, so the outside is sort of inside with you. The water was at a lovely 83-84 degrees - coming out my skin felt like silk, truly! I love to swim and this pool made my visit exceptional. It snowed while I was there and what a feeling that was to see the snow coming down while in that warm water. I also really liked the blue sky and clouds painted on the ceiling. Sometimes it seemed the clouds were moving.... Go figure...
I enjoyed a great breakfast of homemade hash benedict and perfect coffee. Had to leave early to get home before the snow got more serious. But I will definitely return to swim, and to experience more of the spa's offerings.

Oh boy, where to begin? I was in Augusta for a wedding, and stayed at the Senator Inn. Many people from the wedding also stayed here, and every single person I talked to also said they had a bad stay.
I'll start by saying that the Senator Inn and Spa website is very misleading. It presents the hotel as a luxurious accommodation that is "great for that pampering vacation in Augusta." In reality it was nothing more than a glorified motel (with luxury hotel rates). It has a nice looking pool area (with very cold pool water), but the rest of the place seemed quite run down and basic. The "suites" are an interesting interpretation of what constitutes a suite. The suites seemed more like what you'd expect from a regular hotel room at most places. The regular rooms were small, old and worn down.
What I found the most off-putting were their policies. They charge $30 if you want to check in early. I've stayed at a countless number of hotels in my life, and I have never once stayed at a place that did this. Regular check-in time is at 3:00, and they charged a friend of mine the $30 for checking in at 2:30. Talk about not making your guests feel welcome. Another different friend that was staying there made sure to wait until 3:00 so as to not be charged extra, and then when they tried checking in after 3:00 were told that their room wasn't ready.
A different friend (the groom) of the wedding tried checking in late Friday night, but had forgotten his wallet 20 minutes away. He even presented the confirmation email to the front desk, but was told he would not be allowed to check in without his ID. They ended up having my friend call his wife the night before her wedding, and she had to get on a computer and fill out some forms or resubmit some information. It was my friend's fault for forgetting his wallet, but the whole process seemed quite unnecessary considering he presented the confirmation email on his phone.
The layout of the place is also very confusing. It's awkwardly shaped, and even more awkwardly numbered. For example, rooms in the 200's and 300's are both on the 2nd floor.
To add insult to injury, the morning that we were all checking out, the fire alarm started going off throughout the entire hotel. Everyone had to evacuate (scrambling and rushing around to grab everything and take it out with us so that we didn't get stuck waiting to get back into our rooms). I heard that some sort of malfunction in the spa was likely what set it off.
To be fair, not everything was bad. The staff were all polite and professional. The fitness center was quite impressive by hotel standards. The location was conveniently located very close to food and shopping. There was plenty of parking as well.

This place is basic and functional. The bones are old with some limited modernization in the room decor and beds (which were comfortable). Bathrooms were the weak point with older fixtures. Room had a slightly musty smell. Room access for us was up an external flight of stairs and we were glad we have grab-bags and not real luggage. The restaurant was permanently shut. Food options nearby are all chain options. We drove to get something more interesting. We did not use any of the facilities so cannot report to that. We avoided the 'granola bar breakfast' - there is a Starbucks in the mall next door. Would we do this again? No.

This hotel/ “spa” is the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
The lady at the front desk was the absolute rudest person I have ever dealt with in my life. She was so unhelpful and short with us. We stayed here for a wedding and 4 months prior, when booking the reservation, I requested to check in early if possible Because we had a wedding to get ready for.I called the week of our reservation to request an early check in again but got a voicemail. I left my name and number but never received a call back. I think at this point the front desk lady decided that she just wasn’t going to help me and was going to purposely give me a hard time.
We showed up to the hotel at 1:45pm and the women who came around the corner rolled her eyes at us before we even said anything. We asked if our room was ready and her response “most likely no but I’ll check” then she told us we wouldn’t be able to check in till right at 3pm. I was super disappointed but understood because I realize it’s just a request but was also a little put off with how cold and short the lady at the front desk was.
So we went down the street to get something to eat/ drink (the hotel bar/ restaurant doesn’t open till 4pm).
We came back right before 3pm to check in and the same rude lady proceeded to tell us that the system shows that our room isn’t ready and she cannot check us in. It was 3pm and she knew we had a wedding and before even checking with housekeeping she was so quick to just tell us no. We stood there in shock and asked for any other room but she said the hotel was completely booked and couldn’t offer that. Finally she got ahold of housekeeping and they told her that the room was ready, they just hadn’t updated it in their system.
Our room was in the back, not attached to the hotel/ “spa”. It was a complete dump and I would never ever ever stay there again.
A funny note was there was about 7 empty rooms around us, so I don’t know how this place was completely booked up.
I really believe that the lady at the front desk was annoyed with my request to check in early and just wanted to make us mad. She wouldn’t let us check in early no matter what and she stuck us in the worst area of the hotel possible.
I have stayed at a lot of hotels and am not someone who is hard to please but this was 100% the worst hotel experience.

We stayed in a tiny room on the end in the back of the facility. Not real pleasant; more like a motel room. And, we did not have pets.
There is no water view anywhere in the hotel unless you are looking at the pool. Yes they do allow pets.
Personally, i would contact the hotel directly. I have not seen a shuttle but I also know that the airport is just up the road so it's not far. You could also ask the hotel if you could park your car there until you return. The worse thing they could say is no.
Hope that's been helpful.
