We came to the area to watch some college hockey and treated ourselves to a B & B instead of another hotel. Wow! Beautiful property with amazing hosts. Enjoyed the lighthouse history, walk on the beach, the cold fresh air off the lake and great breakfast each morning. The dessert in the evenings was a wonderful treat that makes oneself...

Lighthouse owners Mary and Bill were the nicest and most hospitable people you would ever want to meet. They welcomed us into their home like we were family. The breakfasts Mary made were a buffet of goodness and the nightly desserts were heavenly. Mary entertained with a variety of tunes on their 113 year old grand piano. The history of...

We loved our stay! Mary and Bill could not have been more charming, helpful and entertaining--artists on so many levels. Mary is an accomplished pianist and fantastic cook; Bill, a celebrated photographer and craftsman. Their passion for their lighthouse is contagious in their recitation of its history. Appreciated having full reign of the lighthouse tower and property to explore at...

Sand Hills lighthouse is a beautiful place run by a very special couple. Bill and Mary have done an amazing job turning the lighthouse into a charming home. Mary's breakfasts are delicious. On one particular morning they included a whipped cream biscuit that was one of the best things I've ever tasted. (We were often not hungry for the rest...

One more visit...so maybe it's our 40th time...something like that...I've lost count but that's close. Why? Charm. Warmth. Innkeepers who are kind and definitely guilty of being passionate about this place they have chosen to share with, quite literally, the world. Enough to see and do to last many, many days...stay a few nights and immerse yourself in their property...

Sand Hills is a magical place where peace can find you in the sound of a wave, light can dance around you in the form of a sunset/sunrise, and if you're lucky- embrace you as the Northern Lights. Mary and Bill have a very special haven and lovingly care and tended to it for many decades. It's a labor of...

My wife and I had the chance to stay one night at this fabulous location while in Michigan for a wedding. There are not many lighthouse in American one can stay at so this caught my attention. Upon making reservations and the first contact with Mary and Bill the owners it was pure relaxation. When we arrived at this beautiful...

Mary and Bill were so warm and welcoming. They had a wealth of historical information about the lighthouse. Accomodations were elegantly restored. Food was great and more like eating at a "favorite relative's house" with a variety of items.

We had an excellent stay with Bill and Mary! They are both very gracious hosts! This is their home and they truly want to share it with all their guests. The delicious homemade dessert at night with a serenade by Mary's piano playing. What a very nice treat! The large breakfast was wonderful! If you leaving feeling hungry, it's your...

Really enjoyed our two night stay in June. We had fun exploring the historic lighthouse and grounds. We liked the woodwork, décor, and evening music. The food was amazing from dessert in the evening to the full breakfast. Mary and her husband made us feel welcome and recommended great places to see in the area. We are planning to go...
