We stayed here upon the recommendation of a business colleague, for two nights with our two children. Upon check-in, we felt immediately welcomed and at home. The children were greeted with sparkling lemonades, and my husband and I were given the house specialty cocktail called a black margarita that could compete with cocktails anywhere in Manhattan. Upon seeing our room the entire family agreed it was the most beautiful room we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in some very nice five star hotels around the world. After a long travel day, we decided to have cocktails and snacks in the hotel restaurant. Everything was so delicious that we ended up staying for dinner. The hotel is very small, so most of the people in the restaurant were coming in from the outside and this was one of the best meals we’ve ever had in Antigua. The room also included a breakfast that my husband said was the best omelette he’s ever eaten. Needless to say, I would highly recommend this hotel to any traveler coming to Antigua. It’s centrally located. The staff is lovely. The food is delicious and the bedding is so luxurious we never wanted to leave. After reading this review to my family everyone said I had to mention the bathroom!!! The bathroom was an open air spa atmosphere with two showers and a large central tub. We can’t wait to go back!!!

We checked into the Mil Flores for my partner's 30th birthday in Oct 2013. We were delighted to find that there were no other guests staying mid week, due to it being rainy season, so we really got special 5* treatment! (which I am sure would have been the same if the resort was fully booked).

Our room had a court yard with an outdoor sofa and a wood burner, which is perfect when relaxing with a wine in a storm. The room was immaculate, and we even had the luxury of having our sheets turned down for us every night. The hotel decor is unique, as it is an old building yet very modern in style... a real treat!

Prior to arriving I had been emailing Orlando to plan the special birthday, and it couldn't have been more perfect. We had massages in our court yard apartment before dinner and then fooled my partner into having a drink at the bar afterwards. When we returned, the outdoor court yard had been decorated in candles and flowers, with a romantic table covered in rose petals... it was beyond what I expected. Orlando even worked later this evening to ensure everything went to plan.

We can't thank Orlando, Sylvia and Nancy (and the chef) enough for making our stay fantastic... we hope to be back again. I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking luxury, 5 staff service and wanting to enjoy the beautiful sites of antigua!

What a marvelous and charming experience! The Hotel Vista Real is a beautifully-preserved 18th century home-turned-boutique hotel. The private, flower-drenched courtyards, the elegant rooms, the romantic fireplaces all made for the most wonderful ambiance. The staff were truly gracious, and anticipated our every need, including rose petals strewn throughout our bathroom and patio. The restaurant, Las Mil Flores, was fantastic. We could not have asked for a nicer experience. I would highly recommend Hotel Vista Real to anyone looking for a wonderful hotel inLa Antigua Guatemala. Thanks, Theresa, Ovedio, the Joses and everyone else there who made our stay so unforgettable!!

I loved this hotel when I was a guest a few years ago. A year later, I prepaid (through Expedia) for 5 nights for March 2020 ($1,500). As it turned out, flights to Guatemala were cancelled the week before my trip due to Covid. Therefore I had to cancel my trip. However, the manager of Mil Flores, Orlando, refused to refund the $1,500 I had prepaid. So I requested a refund from Expedia and was informed that the hotel had my money. The hotel refused to even communicate with me.

Be aware. This hotel has dishonest management. To this day Mil Flores has refused to communicate with me.

You are warned.

My family rented all of the 8 rooms of Hotel Mil Flores in Antigua Guatemala for the weekend of November 25th. on the ocassion of my daughter's wedding.
I had a very bad experience on the day of the wedding in this hotel. Since the hotel business's card literally says: "Let the world know about your experience at Mil Flores", and only after I requested twice, without success, an appointment with the owners/managers, I share this with you.
I advised the staff that we had to leave the hotel at 11:15 am the morning of the wedding. They knew all the cars in the parking area belonged to the family of the bride and had to be moved to go to the religious ceremony, but when my husband and I were ready to leave, we went to get our car only to find it completely blocked by a big pick up truck. I asked many times to find the owner of the truck, but nobody seemed to be able to find him. It was getting very late for us, 20 minutos had passed and nobody was being successful finding the owner of the truck, (who happened to be Mr. Giocondo Granai, manager of the hotel and the grandson of the owner), so we could leave for the church. I got very, very upset and finally, a maid and a gardner showed up at the door of the owner's house, behind the parking area, to say that "the keys were inside the truck", something he could have said 20 minutes earlier. He never apologized for having blocked my car, knowing that we had to go to my daughter's wedding. When finally, someone from the front desk started moving the truck, I tried to get into my car, but the space between the truck and the walkway was very narrow. My foot slipped on the step and I took a fall. Not only I hurt my left hand really bad, where 3 of my fingers inmediately swelled up, including the one I had a ring on, but my knee was bleeding. I had to go to the wedding ceremony and the reception in pain, with my fingers so swollen that I had to spend all afternoon while in the wedding reception with my hand in ice. Early next morning we went back to Guatemala City, directly to the emergency of a hospital, where a doctor cut the ring to free my finger which was getting purple. The hotel personnel never offered me help to clean the blood in my knee or showed concern about the injury in my hand. All this could have been avoided if Mr. Giocondo Granai had been a gentleman and concerned about the hotel's clients. The accident was caused by his failure to think about his customers by parking carelessly, the way it was convenient only to him. It's been one month now and I haven't received an apology from Mr. Granai for being so rude and inconsiderate.
This is what you can expect if you stay at the Mil Flores Hotel in Antigua Guatemala. I hope by knowing about my experience you will realize the kind of service and care you will get, especially if you have an emergency.
Does this hotel deserve to have the Trip Advisor mention as a good hotel???? You decide, but to me, Trip Advisor should remove the framed acknowledgment on the hotel's reception wall. Someone should let the manager know that clients should be properly treated or otherwise, they will pay the price.

Mam I first thank you taking the time to write a revue about our hotel, because you seem to care about other people. Unfortunately a good part of your comment is not true, I am the manager of the hotel and my name is not the one written on your comment, that person was not even in the hotel that day. I personally approach you at the hotel door, when you came back from the religious ceremony, to apologize for the inconvenience of the pick up truck blocking your car and offer you help, but unfortunately you did not let me say a single word, of course we care for you and all of our guests. If there is anything we can do to change your disagreement please let us know, we have the policy of not letting go any guest or client unsatisfied, but you did not let us explain. Always at your service, Orlando Mendoza

I booked this hotel on the internet during the Easter Weekend. When I called the hotel to confirm the reservation in their system, they told me I'd be contacted to cancel my reservation because they only were accepting a minimum reservation length of 3 days for the holiday weekend. I was appalled...why should I be penalized if the hotel wasn't coordinated with their online databases processing reservations? Nevertheless, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept the reservation.
The grounds are beautiful and room has tasteful design, however the staff were not the most welcoming. Upon check-in I was prompted to sign a blank form that had my CC # and no dollar/ quetzal value, in case there were any "extra room charges"... eek!
I also reserved this room because it said it had AC. There was no remote to operate the AC unit near the ceiling, and when I asked someone to help they said they would and never came. There was one roll of used toilet paper and when I asked for a second one, it was as if I inconvenienced the staff. Also, the one evening we stayed, we returned at 10pm on the dot and arrived to a locked front entry door and locked gate.... no notice on how to safely enter the hotel after hours if they intended to lock it up at a certain hour! We had some pretty basic needs and unfortunately the staff was haughty about it. Staff are supposed to make guests feel welcome and comfortable.

The grounds and room were beautiful, but I would not stay here again.

I would highly recommend both Antigua and this specific hotel for anyone who is thinking of visisting Guatemala. On departure, the owner also provided us with a free bottle of local red wine which was a nice touch

When planning my yearly escape from reality with my wife, I take the time for research, to read reviews and search for the best possible places. This in mind, I had Antigua Guatemala as a destiny but had a hard time looking for a place with all the variables that we wanted for our little romantic excursion.
I then found Mil Flores which might be or is the best for a romantic escape ever. Within minutes away from everything, parking(which is difficult to find in Antigua), a pool and jacuzzi(we did not use but looked spectacular) and great service and food. We found what we looked for. The right amount of good service without being invasive, the right amount of lighting, the right amount of space, excellent bed and linings and great value overall. Might be one of the best places I´ve stayed. A special thanks to Salva on front desk, Carlos at the restaurant and gentleman Albino who kindly started the fire for us. A perfect weekend getaway!
