In 1979 UNESCO declared the colonial city of La Antigua Guatemala as a World Cultural Heritage Site turning it to a recognized treasure of exceptional value before the eyes of the world. In the XVII Century, the Convent of Santo Domingo was one of the largest in America and in 1773, the earthquake of Santa Marta almost totally destroyed it. In 1989, the project known as Casa Santo Domingo was developed with the primary objective of rescuing the vestiges of the Convent and Temple buried under tons of rubble. Hotel Museum Spa Casa Santo Domingo progressively emerged where each corner is a page lost in time that joins others to form a beautiful chapter of the great book of our history.

This hotel is about 1 - 1.5 hours drive from the Guatemala Airport. The property is well maintained inside and out. The gardens and hallways are beautiful. Staff are pleasant and always ready to help. Bell staff efficiently took care of luggage on arrival and departure. Check in/out was quick and easy. Reception staff were accomodating. We had a suite in the Spa. It was spacious, nicely decorated, and had a balcony with a nice view of the two volcanoes and the garden below. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Linens and towels were clean and fresh. The room also had a sauna and a jacuzzi tub. We tried in room dining and the restaurant. Food & service were great. Massage and spa were also great. There is a museum on the property with free access to hotel guests. The hotel is within walking distance to the town center and several churches, shops, etc. It is about 2.5 hours drive to Lake Atitlan and 1.5 hours to Pacaya Volcano. We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Book as early as possible if you're planning to spend time in Antigua.…

Service has gone down hill. Hotel is still beautiful and staff is friendly but they are not trained (particularly in reception area) they seem new and la king experience and customer service training. Not a 5 star hotel service. They would not even provide a sanitary napkin. They could not solve simple payment questions. We forgot an item and trying to get it back was almost impossible. Had stayed before and service used to be superb. Not anymore. Hope they train their staff so they can remain a five star hotel.

This is my second time at this hotel to do some sales training and the people/service/food/room is simply 5 stars! The town itself is a bonus! I highly recommend a visit to the art museum outside the hotel.

Hotel Casa Santo Domingo is a breathtaking hotel located in the heart of Antigua, Guatemala. This is an excellent resort in a charming old colonial town. The service and food are excellent. The museums on sight made for a nice stroll. The only disappointment was the old Pharmacy Museum was closed the entire time we were there. (3 days) Would stay there again in a second.

The Hotel Casa Santo Domingo lives up to reputation as the most desirable property in Antigua. Whether word of mouth from friends, TA reviews or our taxi driver, all said we made the right choice! We stayed as a couple for 2 nights in early December, and wished we could have stayed longer. (The room we wanted when we booked the property was unavailable for the weekend, so we had to stay at another hotel for the weekend) . The property is very popular so be sure to make your reservation early. We were treated very well at check-in and we were offered an upgraded room for a very reasonable uncharge, which we agreed to . The room featured an additional sitting room with fireplace, couch, chair, TV, dining table and mini-bar. The other attached room, (the bedroom) featured a king size bed, large safe in the cabinet with a second tv, and a large whirlpool tub in the corner of the room complete with a third smaller tv to be watched from the tub. There was a separate double sink bathroom with large shower. There was a large wooden door to close the bedroom "window" off from the living area, if you wanted to have privacy from the front room. There was no coffee maker but every morning they set out a tray outside the room to be shared by the rooms in the area, featuring coffee, hot water and breakfast cookies. The grounds are awesome. So much history, artwork and sculptures. We toured the onsite museum, stopped at the on-site chocolate shop and decided that we would have all our meals at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was included in our rate and they had one of the biggest buffet spreads you ever saw. Included in the buffet was an omelette and papusa station. The pool and hot tub were wonderful, (pool was very refreshing and warm enough to swim in December). The mornings were cool as well as the evenings, and we would be wearing jackets, however in the afternoon, with the sun shining, we were able to sunbathe and swim in the pool. The restaurant is wonderful, service staff excellent. The restaurant had a feeling of upscale dining with reasonable pricing. We will be returning to stay at this property in the future.…

I thought the Hotel Santo Domingo was a wonderful place to stay. We were lucky enough to have 3 nights there. Everything about the hotel was great, the room, the museum ambience, the restaurant, the heated pool, the friendly staff… a great place to stay in the lovely town of Antigua.

Casa Santo Domingo is my go-to in Antigua! It is amazing beautiful. The service and the team are great. It is walkable to everything in Antigua. I will continue to use this as my base when I visit Antigua!
