Room was very clean and modern with a twist of historic. The reception staff was top notch with going the extra distance to help ya out with anything. Majority spoke very good english. The location is right in the heart of things so can be a bit noisy, though are room was very quiet. First room I had where I...

Well located inside the Dioclection palace complex, this modern hotel built within an old structure is smart and has good amenities, but it's best feature by far is the great staff who work on the front desk. Marianna in particular, is such a sunny person and nothing is too much trouble. Her guided tour ( yes you pay extra) of...

We stayed for two nights in a family room. The hotel is perfectly situated in the old town of Split and just a couple of minutes walk from the waterfront. The staff were very helpful. We had a large family room which was air conditioned and clean. There is free wifi and a good selection at breakfast. The hotel was...

Location is complicated but great : in the very heart of the Diocletian Palace in Split, you can visit whatever you want in the old town at walking distance. Rooms are nice and clean (although ours was small). It's true that you need earplugs if your room is on the street side. Breakfast was very good with made to order...

We were visiting Slovenia and decided last minute to take a trip to Split, Croatia for two nights. After reading the rave reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to stay at Hotel Slavija and thankfully they had a family room available (two rooms/one bath). We were in room 303 which also has a balcony. The hotel is located within the walls...

Excellent location and service. I could not find fault with anything. The hotel is a beautiful old stone building right in the middle of the Diocletians Palace. The interiors are however modern and rooms comfortable. I will definitely stay here on all my trips to Split.

We were only here one night but we love this hotel. It's located within the old historic walls of Diocletian's Palace and you feel like you're stepping into history as you make your way to the hotel. What made this place even more enjoyable was the staff -- every one was SO friendly, welcoming and warm. They went above and...

My wife had stayed here for 2 nights while touring Split as part of a 2 1/2 week visit to Italy and Croatia. This was by far the best place we stayed during our entire trip. You cannot top this location - it was a really cool experience to stay within the walls of Diocletian's Palace. Hotel has a lot...

We stayed here this week for 3 nights with 4 adults in a family room. The room had a large bed with 2 small twin size beds. The bathroom was an odd set up with dark lighting & dark tiles. The shower was in its own room but the toilet and sink were before so more than one person could...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Slavija is type of a heritage hotel due to its location, history and protection by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and UNESCO. The Diocletian's Palace was built in the middle of the 3rd century AD, while the Hotel Slavija was built inside its walls, above the Emperor's western baths. Therefore, it can be concluded that the building of the hotel influenced the protection of the Baths from the devastation. With time the building of the hotel expanded, and from the Baroque palace it became today's Hotel Slavija. Hotel Slavija is under the protection of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, and in part is protected by the UNESCO. The location in the very center of the town makes Hotel Slavija an ideal choice for a stay in Split, surrounded by all relevant historical buildings of the city of Split, including the Temple of Jupiter, the St. Duje Cathedral, the Milesi palace... It is ideal place for both business and pleasure travelers because of its location. Hotel is situated in the very center of the city and is but a few minutes walk from all the major attractions as well as from the main bus terminal, airport shuttle terminal, railway station and ferry. The hotel has 25 rooms and each room is air conditioned, with private bath, hair dryer, satellite TV, Internet connection and direct dial telephone. Some of the rooms are with terraces and Hotel is especially proud to present them because, terraces are rarity in the old part of Split. In the lobby of the hotel is Internet Hot spot, which is free for hotel guests. We also provide faxing, copying, printing and scanning, as well as laundry service. ... more   less
