One of the better 5* hotels in the Med. The atmosphere and clientele really stand this hotel apart from others, guests are relaxed and respectful. There is no crazy rush for sun loungers at the pool nor are they left vacant all day with towels on them.
Our room was really quite comfortable and the view out over the sea is great, this seems to be the case for all rooms. Two pools, one outdoor and one indoor is really good - the indoor pool is actually massive and has a large number of loungers indoors which means you can still have that relaxation time when the weather is bad outside.
The beach is essentially on the ground floor of the hotel and also has a large number of loungers. There is a water sports/activity centre at the beach as well and we did scuba diving from here.
The buffet had a great selection of food for breakfast/dinner and we never had to wait for a table. Water was never free, only offered in bottles which you had to pay for.
There is a bus stop at the hotel reception and also it's possible to walk along the coastal pathway for great views and past several other upmarket hotels.

Staff: All the staff we came into contact with were friendly, approachable & efficient. Everyone says hello or good morning etc. We came with our 1 year old baby & were fully accommodated, the lady in the shop even gave our daughter a lolly pop.
Location: Perfect for us, beautiful view & sunset, short bus journey into Dubrovnik Old Town about 15 mins due to stops, bus stop over the road, it is the first stop in so will be space to sit, will be busier on the way back (buy cheaper tickets from the hotel shop). You have access to all other Valamar hotels on the peninsula, multiple bars & restaurants on there too, including a short walk to the promenade, free access to Maro World (across the park).
Room: We opted for a Premium room on floor 8, it was a clear sea view from our balcony with sun setting behind the island. It was spacious, lovely bathroom, massive bed sun loungers on balcony, a fridge & a safe. It was cleaned & fresh towels provided daily, there were even chocolates offered at the door! The only annoyance was, there was a noise from the toilet that you can hear when it's quiet.
Facilities: The hotel was clean (like all of Dubrovnik), safe & secure. The pools were good with plenty of loungers, there is a Spa area & a small gym included, a beach & multiple terraces. The Piano bar was nice with various Live Music on an evening.
Food: We were B&B so had breakfast here daily, plenty of options to suit all, a smoothie bar & a lot of indoor & outdoor seating.
In summary, we really enjoyed ourselves, our first holiday with our baby & were pleased at how easy it was made for us thanks to the staff here.

This hotel is an ideal location, situated a short bus ride away from the old city of Dubrovnik. It is a lovely hotel and we really agree with it's claim it serves the best breakfast in Dubrovnik - the choice is amazing and to a very high standard. Not sure if it was the end of the season but the hotel did let itself down in several ways during our stay. We had repeated problems with the central programming of our air con in our room, a broken & uncomfortable bed. The staff were helpful and we moved rooms. The spa area is very neglected and sad looking, it really could all do with a good clean and refresh. The indoor pool was nice, as was the outside pool area. My husband cut his foot on a piece of class by the pool, and the next day there was a blitz on cleaning and tidying up around the pool area. Just be aware everything is an extra - sun beds and shades on the beach in particularly are expensive. Despite this, we found the beach very untidy and dirty with litter - not as one would expect of a 5 star hotel. The rooms on the lowest ground floor had that whiff of sewage. I was disappointed not to be able to have decaffeinated coffee for the room - I was told it was too expensive & I would have to purchase from the bar. In summary, it is a lovely hotel but if it is to be a true 5* hotel it needs to up its game.

Possibly the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. Beautifully appointed, the room was quiet and very comfortable and definitely the best hotel breakfast I've ever come across - an almost inexhaustible range of options from cold platters to freshly cooked omelettes. The location at the far end of the Line 6 bus route into Dubrovnik centre is also very convenient as you are guaranteed a place on the bus which starts (and finishes) right outside. We didn't try the evening meals here and I regret not doing so as the options available at local restaurants within walking distance weren't anything very remarkable. The staff were very professional and helpful at all times. Highly recommended.

We stayed here last week with our teenage girls in 2 rooms In half board. Which meant we had a buffet style breakfast (served 7 - 11am) and evening buffet (7-10pm). We all enjoyed the different types of food served and they catered for gluten free and some dairy free. The staff were so friendly and polite both in the hotel and the on the beach. We didn’t have any problems with WiFi or Air Con as previously mentioned. The house keeping was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. The beach (small stones) was beautiful but could get busy at peak time that was to be expected. The outdoor pool and indoor pool was larger than we thought they would be from the images so a nice surprise. We enjoyed the location as it wasn’t busy, being at the end of the bus route into Dubrovnik was good as the bus would get busy - 15min ride (with aircon) 1.75Euro each way if you bought bus tickets from the hotel. 2.50E if you bought on the bus it’s a great way to see the city. Dubrovnik City itself is amazing but busy at this time of year. We used the concierge to arrange a boat trip for our family of 4 - for 4 hours and they organised it to suit us and this included the transport to the harbour - so easy. We visited the blue and 3 caves and used there snorkels and had free drinks on board . Also had time to visit a sandy beach on one of the islands which was a nice change. Such a great trip to do. I would stay here again a great hotel and location for our first time too Croatia

Just returned from an amazing time in Dubrovnic we stayed at the valimar president collection Hotel.It was everything and more than we expected. From the staff to the rooms everything was perfect. We booked a seaview room with a terrace, the room was spotless great attention to detail. I was delighted to have tea/coffee facilities as I love my cuppa in the morning.the room was exactly like the brochure. The indoor pool and outdoor pool were pristine clean liquid shower soap and shampoo in all the showers. Towels were provided in the pool and beach area. The breakfast was good with great variety to cater for all tastes. I can't comment on the evening dinner as we only booked B&B basis. the staff were very attentive at all times nothing was to much bother for them. The location was also good we were the last stop on the number 6 busfrom the old town bus stops outside the hotel which made it very easy to get around.If you are like me and enjoy your comfort this is the place to chill out and relax the hotel is therapy in itself. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Dubrovnic.

Unfortunately we felt that the hotels five star rating was rather flattering and not fully merited. First impressions of the hotel were poor as the reception staff were abrupt and unwelcoming. Other than the location of the restaurant and meal times, we were offered no further information about the hotel. In other five star hotels we have been given a warm welcome, complementary drink, information about the spa and a la carte dining options as well as details of the hotel facilities. None of that here, we were just expected to find anything we needed ourselves. We had the same poor experience on checking out as we were presented with the bill but not asked how our stay had been, wished a pleasant journey etc.
The bedrooms were rather dated but comfortable, although the housekeeping service was one of the poorest we have encountered with things regularly being missed.
There was a good selection of food in the buffet restaurant for both dinner and breakfast although the food was never particularly hot even shortly after the buffet had opened. The staff were excellent at clearing tables and bringing café lattes to us at breakfast but some elements of the service both in the restaurant and bar were not of a five star standard.
Watching the spectacular sunsets and enjoying cocktails on the outside terrace listening to the live music was a very pleasant end to the day.
The beach was a great place to relax and during our stay there was never pressure for sunloungers. Wi-Fi was good both in our room and on the beach.
We booked this hotel for a special wedding anniversary (not acknowledged in any way by the hotel) but unfortunately it did not provide the luxury experience we had hoped for. Overall the Dubrovnik President felt more like a four star hotel than five.

Stayed at this hotel at the last week of the season. Whilst things were on the close - the service and general quality of the hotel were still excellent. Few pointers below: -
Reception area has the wow factor - beautiful views. The rooms/hallways are a little dated as previous reviews state but general cleanliness and organisation of all areas were very good.
Great sized indoor pool - which was needed end of October and it is situated beside the outdoor pool (sea slightly warmer than outdoor pool but expected for time of year). Pool hours were very good in comparison to other places we have stayed. Spa facilitates good and liked the complimentary water and teas.
Food quality was excellent. Buffet very good especially the breakfast. Mimosas/sparkling wine available every morning which was a real treat as in previous hotels we have only had this once or twice in a weeks stay. Special mention to Duro & Marik (hope that's his name!) who provided an excellent standard of service and remembered the fine details. Chef at the pasta station also went above and beyond to cook plain, fresh pasta for my son - whilst the evening service was quiet we felt that she still went out of her way to do it which was very much appreciated and again that 5* service.
Beach area is beautiful - charge for the beds and beach shoes recommended.
Hotel is situated near other Valamars' (which are also very good as we had a nosey too) and the overall area felt safe and homely. Maro World is excellent and open to 10pm which is brilliant. Not all areas of Maro World open at the end of October but this is expected and my son still got so much from it everyday. Some nearby shops/cafes open to late as well - but would need to venture to Lapad or Dubrovnik for more evening/dinner choices. Would recommend Sports Pub Mario in Lapad for a relaxed, and well priced drink.
Bus Stop right outside the hotel and it's the first stop into Dubrovnik. Would recommend walk along promenade past the Royal Blue collection of hotels and towards the Cave Bar More for great off the rocks sea dips (without paying!). We did the 3 day pass to Dubrovnik which included bus fees. But note that you need to visit the bus kiosk at the old town to activate the bus card. Bus leaves you off at the Pile gate (last stop). Recommend Peppino's for gelato and Holy Burek for fast food snack. Would also recommend visiting the Fort. You don't have to pay to visit the Old town but you do if you want to venture the walls/galleries etc.
Definitely recommend if wanting the hotel/holiday quieter experience as well as good access to the old town.
We are new to the Valamar brand and we would certainly recommend it.

We had a great stay at the Valamar President Hotel. The location is simply stunning with amazing views, fantastic beach and overall good service. The food in the restaurant is great quality and there is plenty of space and easy access to the old town via a bus that stops right outside the hotel. Honestly the views from the pool, beach and outside bar are incredible. As a family of 5, with older children, we opted for 2 rooms, one at the pricier end (V Level) and one standard room. The V level room was beautiful, super spacious with a balcony, seating area, large bed and huge bathroom. The kids room was considerable lower quality, with quite a dated hallway, room looked like it needed some TLC, smelt a bit musty and overall way different to ours (the luxury of being the parents !). This didnt really create an issue but I think that the hotel should consider ensuring the similar standard continues throughout. Smaller / bigger rooms of course are usual, but for the hotel to retain its top standard, they must do some renovation on those areas, to keep everytthing looking as good as the lobby. Breakfast was excellent. SUPER busy, so advise going earlier in Summer months. the wasps outside were a real issue so annoyingly we had to sit inside, but buffet choice was huge and really great quality. We spent some time with the concierge service, feeding back our thoughts about the V LEVEL which is a sort of VIP access, giving extras like, fruit in the room, smoothies at midday, a dedicated area on the beach, free water etc, but I feel like they could make a lot more of that. Ensure its really something that people are willing to pay for. From memory we didnt pay a lot more and I would say its worth it, but still think they should make it more known and ensure the 'lounge' area is somewhere people want to go and thus want to pay for the VIP level. Currently the lounge is very dull meeting room which doesnt cut it really. Overall I would recommend the hotel for the location, food quality, views and beach. I would however strongly recommend being sure of what room you are getting and where it is (And whether it has been renovated or not). one other thing. this is NOT a hotel for anyone with accessiblity needs. There are hundreds of steps everywhere, of course there are lifts too, but because of its location stepped down (as you will see in the photos) I really would only suggest this area if you are able to walk comfortably up and down stairs. We enjoyed that, as gave us chance to exercise (!) but to be considered for older / less mobile visitors.
