We are a couple with a young child who visited in September 2024 for 7 nights. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel - very clean, modern touches and good environmental / green credentials.
The temperature was generally about 25 - 32 Celsius, apart from a few cooler days and one in which Dubrovnik experienced some very bad flooding, which the staff told us was usually unheard of.
The only complaints we had about the room were we would have preferred a double rather than twin beds pushed together and the shower gel / shampoo dispenser was a bit high. The beds (twin & sofa bed) and the bathroom were perfectly nice.
We really liked Maro World and mainly used the soft play, trampolines and the evening entertainment (music, dancing and theatre products). We thought the Beauty and the Beast production was very good.
The buffet restaurant (half-board) had a great variety of different foods and drinks and we had no complaints about the quality of this. There are too many to mention but Antonio, Dario and Ira were very good with out toddler.
The reception and the concierge were really helpful when we needed them, there are shops and restaurants on site, a SPA and an indoor pool located on the sister hotel site, and an outdoor pool shared between the two.
We did a tour of the Elaphiti Islands and enjoyed this, however the hotel advertised the trip as having an “open bar,” which turned out to be a number of cool boxes with white wine, juices and water.
We also did a tour on a Tuk-tuk (again booked via the hotel) with Eco Tuk Tours (Ante and John Danicic). I have included some of the pictures from the top of the cliffs etc. On the return route to the old town, Dubrovnik was shut down with stand-still traffic.
The company did a good job of adapting the tour so we could still experience the best of Dubrovnik. The number 6 bus route was a quick and easy way to get back to the hotel vice versa and cost 2.5 euros per head (young children free).
I always prefer it when a hotel / location exceeds our expectations and this one certainly did that.

Superb hotel with excellent family activities and access to their partner hotels.
We had a warm and welcome check in and support from the front desk (shout out to Ivana and Jerko!)
The room is more than adequate with a balcony facing the courtyard. Noise levels from the band did not affect our stay. Their housekeeping staff are second to none- every surface and skirting is spotless (special thank you to Smiljka, who worked on our corridor)
Further, the buffet breakfast caters for all diets, and all ages. We saw a station just for baby food, and for gluten free products; products were also appropriately labelled for allergens.
The outdoor pool still felt cold in peak summer- but never fear- the indoor pool in Lacroma next door is free to Tirena guests. Access to Copacapana beach is free and a 5 min down hill walk).
Tip: please don’t buy your bus ticket fr the driver (costs €2.50 one way). There is a little souvenir store on site that will sell single travel (€1.73), day passes (€5 ish) or a 3 day pass (€11 ish). The €35 Dubrovnik city pass offers access to The Wall and bus fare for the day)

We stayed in the Valamar Tirena hotel for 10 nights with our 6 month old and 2 and a half year old girls- we booked a superior room. We were very impressed with the hotel and staff a like from start to finish. The buffet breakfast and dinner was amazing and the food options were excellent. The only thing I will say is that it was too late for us to be eating at 7pm for dinner as this is the girls bed time. It would be more suitable to start the buffet at 5pm or 6 pm with small children. But that is just personal to us. We made it work the best we could. The Oliva Restaurant at the pool was nice for lunch, you could get a take away to your seats at the pool if you didn’t want to sit in. Again staff were lovely.
Mario world was amazing for our toddler and the pool area was perfect with a baby pool, older children area with slides and an adult pool. On one of the days the temperature was high and the baby pool was covered over and sheltered. The pool staff were brilliant too. Another day it was overcast so we used the indoor pool in the Valamar Lacroma right next door.
Throughout the stay every member of staff made such a big deal with our girls playing with and chatting to them. Martina was a big hit in the restaurant. The hotel was spotless, our room was very clean and comfortable. The Valamar app was excellent, I would recommend downloading this during your stay. We already hoping to book again for next year. If you have children and are thinking of booking here, you will not be disappointed.

I will list all the problems that I encountered in 14 days: 1. President beach is dirty, my child kept picking up trash from the sand. The presidential beach is small, it takes no more than an hour to clean up the trash - quickly walk and collect sharp bottle caps, peach pits and cigarette butts. 2. In the Tirena hotel, access from the pool to the room is only across the street, the reception, naked and humiliated, although the hotel has enough doors that are locked from the outside. 3. The card for the elevator in the presidential hotel did not work. Walking with a stroller and a baby on foot is tiring. 4. Our sheets were changed after 9 days for the first time after asking at the reception. Do I have to ask for this separately? 5. They did not clean the floor for 5 days. I went to ask for a vacuum cleaner. They asked me - is there anything else that needs to be cleaned? Am I supposed to list what is included in the cleaning? 6. One room card for 3 people is very inconvenient 7. The idiotic light that turned on every time I left the room and my wife was sleeping with the child, woke them up. There is no way to turn off this nastiness. I inserted a plum pit into the open door, ran and turned off the light in the hallway (this can only be done in the room), then went out and inserted the pit, and they slept with the door open, since there is only one door card. It's terrible.

This hotel was lovely, so well thought out and great for kids. All the little details were covered like kids shower gel in the bathroom on arrival, the kids pool had a little canopy to keep it shaded once it got hotter. Maro world was brilliant for all ages and a great activity on a rainy morning.
So many little beach bars and some lovely restaurants nearby that you can walk to easily. By the pool there is Oliva grill, food was fantastic and the staff were excellent. All so friendly and helpful - particularly Mario and Tonio who our little girl loved!
The hotel is also connected to the other hotels in the group but all spread out and you can walk between them and down to the beaches along a coastal path and you can also access the promenade into Lapad. There's also a busy that goes straight into Dubrovnik.
We had the best time, and would recommend to couples and families alike.

We were an older family of 6,(15, 19 , 20, 21 parents.) this hotel was perfect. Loved the pool area, swim up pool bar, and a little restaurant next to it which you can sit in, or takeaway around the pool ,amazing pizzas, in a box. Very reasonably priced for a hotel. Couple of small slides. Next door hotel pool which you can use is bigger, and they have an indoor heated pool. Open late too, 7pm outside, 9pm inside. Towels available. The rooms were very clean, and cleaned every day, fresh towels, and modern, amazing shower, very comfortable beds, pillows very soft but OK. My only complaint in our room of 3 people was one bed was a little put up, I think everyone should have a proper bed, as we all paid the same. Breakfast was great, buffet style. Very easy to get to old town, bus stop outside no.6, every 10 mins, takes about 10 minutes, €2.50 each way. 10 min walk there is a lovely walk along a promenade with great views and lots of restaurants. We would all definitely stay here again if we returned to Croatia. Staff were very friendly and helpful too.

Just had seven days here and it was great we booked bed and breakfast but eat there two evening as the food was excellent.The staff where very helpful and always there for any problem. Evening music was very good . The room and hotel was spotless always cleaning.would recommend this hotel as number 6 bus is only a hundred yards away and the price is €2 .takes you into the Town lots of restaurants there I did not find the prices any different from home

Very nice place for families with children. The staff is always helpful. The buffet was very good and varied both at breakfast and dinner.

We are just home after 10 days at this hotel. It honestly exceeded all of our expectations. From the minute we arrived, there was little gifts for our 2 girls. The hotel is pristine, so clean and modern and in my opinion, it was even nicer in person than in the photos. The pool area is just beautiful.
The attention to detail was exceptional - the free nappies and swim nappies in the toilets for children and little steps for the sinks to wash their hands. Free phone charging station at the pool. So many little details that just made it that bit extra special.
The staff were top class. My 3 year old daughter made friends with so many - special mention to Ivana in the restaurant and of course Milan. What started as a simple hello, ended in hugs and kisses by our last day. 🥹
Maro world is like nothing I have ever seen before. Again, it is immaculately clean and so well thought out for children. It is a child’s heaven. Special mention to the girls here too - Nikolina, Milla and Cveta. They made such a huge fuss of my daughter’s last day. Gave her lots of little gifts to take home, big hugs and kisses and an ice cream.
The kindness and generosity of everyone completely blew us away. My only regret is we were unable to book our holiday for next year as the bookings are not available yet. We are absolutely hoping to return next year. Thank you all so much for a fantastic trip. My eldest daughter said her favourite part of the trip is when Maro hugged her. 💕
