My friend and i came to Smart hotel the 26th of january. We needed a service and the manager of the hotel, a remarkable professional, did everything she could to help us. We won't forget her and her staff, thank you so much!
This hotel was the quirkiest of our Myanmar stays. Eclectic wallpaper and dated styling coupled with really friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel was very clean, if worn in places but we had a lovely stay. The Skybar is a great spot on the roof...More

I actually did not write anything about going to Mogok, as I changed my mind at the last minute when the manager of the Smart Hotel in Mandalay arranged for me to stay in his nephews house on Inle lake (an experience not to be missed) being treated like a family member and living the real lake dwelling experience.
However i did meet some people when i caught the river boat up north who had been to Mogok, they arranged a travel agent in Mandalay to provide a mini bus and driver/guide to take them up there i think the mentioned $80 each for the permit, car and guide for three days plus their guesthouse, which travel agent i am not sure but if you are staying or intend to stay in Mandalay ask Terrence (the owner/manager of Smart Hotel) if he can find out for you, he seems to have contacts everywhere, and if you talk to him try to get a day or two at his nephews house on the lake.
Sorry I can't me more specific
