this place is quite dated and needs a major overhaul! one time somebody might have had a vision of Shangri-la but that is long gone. I love the Lao people and their gentleness but this can not make up the shortcomings when not even the front end staff can communicate well enough in English. The food was ok providing you...

The best thing about my stay here was checking out early to escape the nightmare I experienced. First, this is not a resort or spa. There is no spa, but there is a cold pool. It is secluded on the other side of the river so you must take the hotel's boat across during certain hours. Getting down to the...

This is a very pretty hotel in beautiful grounds which are only accessible by a boat! It's a lot of steps down and back up again with rickety walkways to navigate. The hotel itself is OK the pool is nice the rooms are clean but the place seems to be very over staffed, 3 people to make an omlet for...

I booked 5 nights at the resort when I arrived in Laos We was greeted by a Driver to take us to the resort, we arrived at a back garden of someone's house then was informed that we have to walk down steps and across a made up bridge to get to the boat to take us across the Mekong...

Sometimes you read reviews on sites like this and think people are just so mean-spirited and unreasonable(of the "I-stayed-in-a-jungle-resort-and-was-shocked-and-disgusted-to-find-a-SPIDER-in-my-room!" variety). Sometimes you feel extremely mean for having to write bad reviews. Sometimes, as in this instance, you just have to write such a review in the hope that the owners will listen to feedback and react... Look, I really WANTED...

After a while staying in backpackers and guesthouses, my girlfriend and I wanted to treat ourselves for our anniversary. Although we were pleased with the facilities and the friendly caring staff, we were a bit underwhelmed with our value for money. If you are thinking of staying at the hotel for the whole day and chilling by the pool, this...

The hotel is listed on booking websites as being in Luang Prabang. It isn't. It is in a village across the river. This didn't put us off because we wanted to be somewhere quiet and away from the town. The hotel provided free transfers in and out of town whenever we wanted them, it was never difficult. If, however, you're...

First off, this hotel is not in luang prabang town, it is the other side of the Mekong from the town, and a subsequent 2 mile drive into town,BUT....the hotel provides a ferry and a taxi. The ferry crosses in the am until about 1100, the from 400pm until 1100pm will do the same. There is a coordinated minivan that...

Do not stay here! We weren't told about the river crossing and the guy that was meant to be driving the boat was asleep so we thought we were stranded. I had to go for a long walk to try and find a phone only to discover the phone number didn't work. Finally someone went onto the boat and woke...

The hotel is on the Mekong river, on the opposite bank of the town of Luang Prabang and hard to reach. To reach the hotel you need to take a van (about 10 minutes ride) to reach a spot to descend a long stair, walk on a long jetty submerged by water to finally board a small boat and cross...
