We spent two nights at the Apsara which is nicely situated on the river and within easy walking distance of many of the sites in Luang Prabang. Our room was on the first floor, facing the river with french windows out onto a narrow balcony. The room was a lovely size and pleasantly decorated. Just a couple of niggles -...

We had a standard room (no. 10) overlooking the river. Stepping out through the French doors, we had a view of the Nam Khan River in front of us and the Tamarind Restaurant next door (the noise wasn't too bad). Charming decor and a large, somewhat dated, bathroom. The linens were excellent but our mattress was a bit saggy, and...

Stylish hotel with lovely large light and airy rooms, decorated nicely in keeping with the old French colonial style of this riverside building. Great location for strolling round the old town and visiting the nearby wats. Good bathroom with huge bath (with occasional but thankfully brief disruptions to the water supply), comfortable bed with good air conditioning and a ceiling...

we were a party of 10 this year and Luke their newish chef put together an amazing menu for us - buffalo cheeks, aubergine salad and many more were all stand outs. Everyone loved the meal. Great service and excellent food. Thanks to Luke, Catherine and Tom for a great farewell dinner for our group. Cheers, Leith

Stayed for 3 nights in an upstairs river view room with a balcony in a quiet street overlooking the Nam Khan river. The hotel is slightly quirky but all the more interesting for it, huge comfy bed and tasteful furnishings - I wanted to take the curtains home! Excellent friendly service from Lao and Western staff with Ivan, the owner, in...

We stayed at this hotel last year and were more than satisfied. This year is no different. The rooms are large, with high ceilings and enormous bathrooms. They do have an element of shabby chic, which you may or may not like. Bed linen and pillows are of a high standard and the service is of a higher order than...

Recommended by our hotel for dinner, but there are better places in LP for local food. Flavours were not great and presentation a bit sloppy. Apparently there has been a change of chef, so perhaps wait a bit to see how/if it improves.

We stayed four nights at the Apsara and loved the whole experience. We arrived on a festival night-October 20 and two candle and flower floats were waiting in our room for us to lower into the river. The view was great from the chairs on the patio outside our room and we often saw monks and novices strolling by. The...

I spent a week at the Apsara hotel, Luang Prabang, with my mum. Her fourth time and my first. I can not fault this gorgeous hotel and it's staff. Our room was simply styled with no television and a huge bathroom. There is a day bed which is a an added bonus and I used it most afternoons to read....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The first and still one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in Luang Prabang, the Apsara was originally a rice warehouse situated on the banks of the Nam Khan [The quieter side of town]. The Apsara is also right in the heart of the heritage village, making it the perfect place to stay. From the comfort of its large, airy bedrooms, rated by the Washington Post as "an inch beyond decadence", it's easy to explore temples and the lanes of Luang Prabang. After which you can relax on the river terrace and enjoy the spectacular views and a refreshing Beer Laos. But that's not all, our restaurant is well known for having one of the most interesting menus in town as well as a superb wine list and the driest martinis in Laos. As Hip Hotels said "Both the restaurant and bar reflect a refined sense of taste" and who are we to argue with that. ... more   less
