We travel in 3 and we booked the guesthouse before leaving for Pakbeng. We had booked a triple, they took our money and when we arrived they had only doubles (triples not exist in this guesthouse) . One of us has had to adapt to sleep on a mattress on the floor. To our remonstrances have responded with: "If there... More

Here's how I got tricked into staying here. At the start of the slow boat to Laos trip, as we were waiting to get checked onto the boat, the guy checking us in gave us various bits of useful advice. Like take water, some food, etc. Then he made a few suggestions about guest houses at Pak Beng saying they... More

second time I have stayed here and once again had a great time. Room we had was upstairs and very spacious and comfy beds and good shower. the staff here are lovely and helpful, the atmosphere great, the restaurant is good, offering authentic cuisine, breakfast overlooking the river and an added bonus of seeing the elephants across the river a... We stayed here because the slowboat operator could make 'a good deal' for our group. We arrived in the rain and dark and didn't get a warm welcome.. The double bedroom (fan and mosquito net) with bathroom didn't look very clean, neither did the bedsheets. Because of the rain we decided to have dinner here, but the staff wasn't very... More

Horrible place. If you book it before leaving with the slow boat, the price will be double. No aircon, no toilet paper, unfriendly staff. Some of the co - travellers were complaining about not having water in the toilet and the electricity was not working so they had to charge their devices in the restaurant next to the guesthouse.

i didnt have a problem with this guesthouse...just dont get deceived by their guy/contact at the Laos border! he'll talk you into booking at bounmy saying that it'll be easier to arrange the seating order for the boat if everyone books the same guesthouse...free tuktuk to and from the guesthouse..and free wifi. (fyi: there are no seating arrangment at the... More

We booked this place for one night on our way down the Mekong. It was very convenient as they picked us up and took us straight there. We had a basic and clean room. I ate at their restaurant looking over the river and they gave a small discount because I was also staying there. In the morning I checked... More

We'll the rooms in this guesthouse have very different quality (only fanrooms available), some have moskitonets over the beds, some don't. The bedsheets at least smelled fresh and the matresses are rather hard. In some rooms the waterheater for the shower was broken or electric cables came out of the wall next to the shower. The toilet flush would not... More

Mid-point stay on the 2 day trip from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang. Even with prior warning that electricity would go off early I wasn't quite prepared for how basic the accommodation was. It's in a great location close to the ferry and has a huge restaurant for breakfast but that is it. Rooms are in an unwelcoming out building,... More

Don't be fooled by what the boat tour operators and the touts at the Laos border claim. This IS NOT the only guesthouse in the vicinity of the pier with other ones being located miles away from it, NOR is this the only place that will kindly open its doors to you at such an ungodly time as 8pm! Once... More
