Just down from Wat Xien on the Mekong River and near the main tourist drag is this beautiful even though a wee dated Sayo guest house. Each room has a river view and there are three price ranges / grade of room to choose from. I initially took the superior / awesome / delux (top price) room as it was...

I was a bit concerned about staying here given recent TA reviews but it was fine. The location is pretty well perfect; quiet, riverside but easily walkable into town - nowhere is far from anywhere in the main centre. Room was large with small fridge, a/c and fan and a bath and the private balcony upstairs was great for watching...

Long street frontage made up of three buildings made it difficult to book room as we were confused by all the different photos. Paid over $60US for a big double room we thought was 40 square meters. Doubt the room was that big, but it was quite roomy and had a private balcony overlooking the Mekong. The room suited our...

Luckily we only stayed here one night. Whilst it did the job, it was very tired and dated, but worst of all was the indifference of most of the staff. They lounged around the reception area watching TV ignoring their guests. Breakfast - we got some - just about! They provide you with a tick sheet in English to make...

We stayed here a couple of years ago [ for the 2nd time ] and found it very good . OK if you like all the bells and whistles its not for you. But we found it very rustic and original. Definitely a great location, and we will be happy to return any time

This guest house has, I think, a better position than a number of other more swank-looking places in Luang Prabang, overlooking the Mekong River. It was just delightful to cross the road, order a coconut and sit there, just sipping, and watching the activity on the river. Breakfast was included in the tariff and consisted of nice fruits and good...

Good location in the riverside area, although our room was on the ground floor and we didn't get a river view. Big and clean rooms, with excellent breakfast. Good price as well. The staff was not very nice, but everything went on just well and we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for 4 nights and opted for a ground floor room with small, private sitting out area. The room was spacious and clean but the pillows were very hard. Tea and coffee freely available at all times but the reception staff tended to be disinterested (they would continue a mobile phone conversation or game whilst you stop and waited)....

We enjoyed our stay at sayo river guesthouse. I chose the guesthouse based on the lonely planet review and because so I was a little disappointed at the so called 'brisk' service. I'm not saying they were rude, but we're just not as friendly or helpful as other hotels. The street was quiet and close to town as well as...
