Amazing rooms...very traditional Arabic style that are dimly lit and romantic. The pools and ammenities are very nice too but its very over priced and a bit too touristy; to the point of having a "Disney" effect. We did camel riding ( 1 minute around in a circle) and saw the falcons (photo op) but there was a person taking...

Got an opportunity to stay in the resort for 02 nights during UAE's national day. Located in the outskirt of Dubai (35km off motor city ) in the middle of desert, the place is really a desert resort. On arrival the welcome drink (juice) was served to 02 European & 01 Malaysian family except the only Indian family sitting in...

It really is in the desert and build in old Arabian architecture. Great and friendly staff, good beds and good size standard rooms. Views on the desert, pool or massive garden area. The pool is the best view and the pool itself rocks. Really is the perfect oasis. Is there anything that could me improved? Yes, breakfast feels more like...

It is our second time around here and we booked a terrace room. It is on the National Day so it was packed out. The great thing about this place is that you don't feel crowded even if it is fully booked. This time we rode the camel, played with the little pony and falcon. Everything is so sweet and...

Seeking a different experience than the glitzy downtown Dubai, we opted for two nights at Bab al Shams. We Ubered from downtown (about 160 in local currency) and in 30 minutes we were there. We arrived quite early and our room was not ready but we were quite happy to hang by the pool and have some "refreshments". The pool...

Very scenic and peaceful getaway close to home. Lovely pool area with jacuzzi in it. Big walking chess board game. Horse ride and camel rides too. Good music in the air with an Italian, and Arabic and Indian restaurant to taste lovely meals. Very ancient type of rooms but antique too. A little away from the main resort is a...

I was really looking forward to a weekend getaway with my family. On the website it mentioned activities for kids so, I felt comforted that kids would have a great weekend. I was in for a poor surprise. There was only 1 table tennis table in the resort and apparently it's wheels were broken so the table sloped inwards from...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Translated from Arabic as "Gateway to the sun", the *award-winning 5-star Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is designed to resemble a fortified rural Arab village amidst the desert landscape. Featuring low-rise architecture, this sandy coloured style fort boasts the main tower with Reception area and lobby and clusters of two-storey buildings housing guest accommodation, restaurants, spa and meeting facilities interconnected by seemingly endless little walkways. The charm of Arabia is personified in every corner of the property with small lanes running through the hotel, scattered around ponds and secluded seating areas, shaded courtyards, water fountains and trickling streams bestowing the feel of cool tranquillity. The abundance of green garden areas and manicured lawns adds to the quiet and soothing environment of the resort. The rustic Arabian theme of exterior design continues to flow in the carefully selected interior decorations and settings featuring uncovered natural stone floors, bare plastered walls, dark wood and iron fixtures, warm dimmed lighting and an abundance of artefacts showcased throughout the property. The resort boasts 113 rooms and suites offering cosy accommodation in an authentic Arabian style with majority of the rooms having a private terrace. All guest rooms and public areas have complimentary Wi-Fi access. *World's Leading Desert Resort, World Travel Awards. ... more   less
