Called here for lunch during a trip on the Schafberg train. Had a problem ordering our meal as the waitress ignored us and then an even bigger problem when it was time to leave. The waitress kept on ignoring us, in the end we got fed up with waiting. My wife left and started walking back to the train and...

The scenery is amazing. The food was ok, but the agresive and rude staff also terrible dirty toilets made us disappointed. Unfortunately, when I made a complaint to boss and manager I faced with same manner as staff. Respect and customer service is very unknown for them. I'll never back there.

Had lunch at the terrace restaurant overlooking the view from the top of Schafberg having come up on the cog railway. Pork Schnitzel and chips was excellent as was the beef stew and sausage and sauerkraut. Quite prices at €55 including soft drinks but considering there is no competition it's really no surprise so fair enough. All in all a...

After watching the train go up the Mountain on one of Michael Portillo's great European rail journeys I've wanted to stay here, unfortunately it wasn't as good as I was hoping for. The train going up the mountain is excellent and the view from the top is absolutely extraordinary, if you're staying in the hotel you have to get the...

Situated at the top of the Schafberg mountain accessible by mountain steam train from St Wolfgang. Magnificent views over the northern Alps with Grossglockner at 3800m in the distance. An extensive menu and fast service with plentiful seating out on the terrace.

I went here twice in a week, the first time freezing cold and torrential rain and I had a massive sweet dumpling and my friend a plate of cheeses and of course we sat inside. The second time sat on the terrace watching hang gliders, too hot to move, had cheese and bread and buttermilk, the view is superlative and...

Historic, classic and comfortably functional accommodation where everything worked wonderfully and was spotlessly clean. Friendly, helpful staff but we feel that they should have brought our attention to the magnificent and breathtaking surroundings which we stumbled upon at sunset. If you're taking the cogwheel train to the top, take the trouble to stay the night so that you too can...

We ordered two dishes (a salat and goulash) and both dishes were rather small compared to the price. The quality was okay, but like I said to pricy. The service was good and very fast. A very positive point is the amazing view.

Located on top of Schaftberg Mountain and accessed by a wonderful mountain railway, this unique hotel is a must for the bucket list traveller. We caught the last train at 4 pm in a wet grey day and saw very little on the 40min journey up the mountain. The hotel is at the peak of the mountain, a short steep...

I have never experienced such apalling service or lack of care for guests as at this hotel this weekend! We stayed at the hotel as part of a large group of adults and children celebrating a birthday. Despite booking almost every room in the hotel as well as a 3 course evening meal and drinks for ca 70 guests, we...

“Make sure you ask for a front room with a balcony. The back facing rooms still have a great view, but to be able to sit on a balcony and watch the comings and goings of the trains below was special.”
