As for a person who lived in Xiamen before, and worked in a hotel too, Yida Hotel location didn't seem very good for tourists interested in sightseeing. It is indeed located close to party places, taxis are cheap enough to take in China too - but, it was very hard to catch any taxi when I was staying there, because...

Since this is a TA review English, I need to start with a caveat: It will be harder to stay here if you do not speak Chinese. It seems there is a manager who does, but the staff generally do not. In a busy Xiamen week I stayed here a week. the staff generally don't speak English but are anxious to help. The manager with the best English of them went over and above to give advice, write addresses for taxis in Chinese. The bill is in Chinese. The breakfast is Asian sans some toast&jam and Nescafé. There is no restaurant....
