It is located in the main canal and just 15min walk from the main attraction of Suzhou (Classical Gardens). It is also 10min walk away from a shopping district with plenty of restaurants and bars. The hostel is very Chinese style, simple but clean. The rooms are in a separate building from the reception (main building), so you will have...

We had a nice stay at Mingtown in Suzhou. Here are the positives / negatives: Positives: - Great location right in the old town - Good wifi - Restaurant with bacon and eggs! - Nice cafe downstairs with reasonably priced food Negatives: - no soap or shampoo provided in private rooms - Room was very small and cramped - Had...

We stayed at Mingtown Hostel for 2 nights and it was an OK stay overall on the basis of the hostel alone. Location wise however, you are inside the historic part of the old city, right next to the water lane with many shops, restaurants and tea places around and it gets even more lively at night. The hostel also...

It's a very nice place to stay with good clean rooms. There's only 2 showers and 2 toilets on the first floor, which isn't that convenient if there's too many guests... Location is great, pretty close to the metro station, and on the pretty street in Suzhou.

Suzhou was our last city in China and we were not disappointed by our hostel. The place is absolutely beautiful, in an old typical Chinese house, next to the canal. The staff speaks English and is very helpful. The room was lovely with air-conditioning, which is an absolute necessity in Suzhou during the summer. We preferred to book a room...

Perfect place in town. It's off the Main Street for the "authentic feel." They have great rooms here that are clean with shared bathrooms. I met other travelers that said the dorm beds were nice as well. The foods pretty good, but there are many places close by to get traditional Chinese dishes. Headed over Pin Vons just down the...

The hostel itself was in a good location if you're after the tourist bustle of Pingjiang Lu. The hostel is nicely decorated but is very dark and was extremely damp when we were there. We had a double room booked for 3 nights. When we arrived we had to pay up front and pay a ¥100 deposit for the room...

Fabulous location right on Pingjiang Street and an atmospheric old China style Suzhou canal, traditional little bridges, great shopping and sights as you stroll along by the canal under the willow trees. It's quite close to lots of attractions. Different gardens, the museum and many restaurants and tea houses are all within easy, entertaining walking distance. Plenty of photo opportunities...

I would highly recommend to stay at Ping Jiang Road as this is the most happening road. Able to access to restaurant food, snacks, drinks, bar and the view & ambience is so authentic. Mingtown had a very nice rustic ambience, nice receptionist that can speak english, very helpful in giving directions and where to grab a bite. good basic...

Oliver at reception asked me what makes a good hostel. Maybe this, I said. Attentive friendly staff, a feel of taking care of the place and her guests, clean comfy secure enough, central helps, not charging the earth for beer, a pleasant meeting-people-communal-area, ok WiFi (fine in lobby here; not in dorm: no big problem; accept that); if there's a...

“It's worth noting that getting a taxi to the train station from this place was particularly challenging! For one, taxis can't drive down the bulk of Pingjiang Road so the staff refused to call one for us. They told us there would be plenty on the main road (Ganjiang East), and while at midday there were many, many cabs they were all full. It took over 20 minutes to get one that was empty and even then we had to fight off others who tried to snatch it. We would advise possibly walking to a nearby hotel on the main road and having them call a cab for you.”
