Detailed Reviews
Just another long weekend-type trip, but this hotel was extra special. Very clean, with beautiful surroundings and the room was spacious and well-kept.
The bilingual staff were very accommodating and the location's excellent -- mostly residential but with decent public transport just outside the gate and close to a botanical garden and public park & square. I booked online and it didn't even cost $50 -- really recommend this to anyone staying in Dalian for more than a couple of days.

I stayed here for over a year and a half while living in Dalian (I cut a deal with the hotel since renting a place short term in China is not so easy. One tip - almost everything is negotiable in China!).
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my room and the cleanliness of the hotel. I was offered several rooms but opted for a room in one of the villas (second on the quality level of the rooms, but larger than the top quality rooms), which was nice since it is in a separate building and so it was quiet. The room was quite spacious - a deluxe king size bed (I could sleep width-wise and I'm 6'2"!) a dressing area with a nice armoire, a fairly large desk, a small refrigerator, and a small table and armchairs. The bathroom was a good size and had both a tub and a separate glass enclosed shower.
While I wouldn't equate the quality with that of one of the better rooms at the Swissotel or the Hyatt, it was pretty close. The staff were very attentive and very friendly. There are also several restaurants on the hotel grounds as well as a Japanese garden complete with a waterfall. There is also a full gym, spa, and indoor swimming pool (very large and great for swimming laps). The massages at the spa are great and inexpensive by American standards.
The location is convenient - not too far from Zhongshan Square (which is actually a circle - go figure), Dalian Foreign Language University, Tianjin Street, and Shengli Square. If you wish to be nearest to the ocean and beaches (Xinghai Square area), this hotel would not be a good choice, however.
Overall I was very satisfied with this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I am totally confused about comments published about this hotel. I completely agree with Nina Yan. I stayed at the Furama Nanshan Garden for two nights back in April and I would never go back. Pictures showed by Nina Yan are exactly what I experienced. My colleague had to move our of her room and stayed in mine the second night because her window was broken and kept banging all night, plus she was cold as the heating was not working. Carpets were stained and wallpaper falling apart. Mouldy bathrooms with broken tiles. On our firs night there we went to the lobby and order some coffees at aprox. 21:30, when we asked for the bill we were charged more than double the price because "prices are increased after 22:00 hours"... it was only 22:10 and we had ordered well before that time. English not spoken, breakfast only chinese style, no internet access (we were adviced to try and pick up a wifi signal from one of the buildings nearby)......
Are other travellers rating the Furama Dalian Hotel (nice) and getting confused with name? Or is there a different building with nice bedrooms that we didnt even see?? In any case I would not recommend taking the chance.

+1
I was completely pissed off with the quality of the hotel. Please check my weibo (a kind of twitter) to view more photos and the conversation between me and them (http://www.weibo.com/at/weibo?leftnav=1&wvr=3.6&filter_by_type=0&backallat=1&is_adv=1&filter_by_author=0&_t=0). I stayed there in May, 2012. They promised a non-smoking room because my baby was only 9 months old. They gave me a room that smells smoke. I was told that it is impossible to have a non-smoking room in that hotel. The price isn't cheap though. We stayed there for 7 nights, 55 euro per night on average (note that we got the same price from Pullman). They don't speak English at all. Luckily I speak Chinese. They have a swimming pool on their website but actually it's false information. I ask them to remove such information and they even didn't react to it.
