I really enjoyed the area of the hostel, it's in Cartegena de Indies. So easy to get around from there and see all you need to see. The staff are super kind and so available for help and to help you with whatever it is that you need. I never actually went in the pool, but I did spend times... More

This place is clean and quiet. Easy to walk to places and the staff is excellent and helpful. I ended up staying here longer because it was a nice break from big party hostels in South America. The pool is really small and I didn't go in... but it is there and one of the few I've seen where they... More

I recommend this hostal for different reasons: the price is good for cartagena, the place is well decorated, close to all the great places in the walled city. the staff was always helpfull, the bathrooms are private (1 person per room). I really enjoyed staying there, so, if you want a good place for a great price in cartagena, enjoy!

This is a really comfortable place to stay in Cartagena for several reasons. First off the location is the best. Staying in the old city is much better than outside it. You can find still cheap places to eat and it is much safer to walk at night. The hostel is easy to find- right behind Theater Heredia and it's... More

We stayed at chicheria for a night in the dorms and found it to be a great value for a place to stay in cartgena. It's quiet and located close to everything. It's not a boutie place, just normal lodging with good beds and a great price. We highly recommend it.

A beautiful hostel but at the same time felt like home. Stayed in dorms - clean and comfortable bunk beds, air con in the night. Shared bathroom was super clean with a lovely hot shower. Kitchen was well equipped and again super clean. Lounge and dining area had hammocks and a small pool - just really nice and laidback. A... More

My initial positives of Casa de la Chicheria were that it has the best showers I have had so far in South America (massive shower heads and hot water if you are mad enough to want it in Cartagena!), big fluffy pillows, air con which is actually air con rather than fans pumping hot air around and a small pool... This was a wonderful hostel. It's located on a little street that is extremely close to the center of the city where great bars and restaurants are. It has a wonderful pool inside the hostel and the architecture of it feels so authentically Colombian - it really is welcoming. Also the proprietors of the hostel are extremely nice and helpful... I'm usually not a fan of dorm rooms, but the room at Casa de la Chicheria is very nice! Chicheria has a dorm with plenty of room for the number of people and your bags, room to move around, and thick mattresses. There is also a small pool that's good for cooling off, a couple of hammocks for lounging, and... More
