First off, the front desk staff are good. And they speak English. The breakfast for Colombia was decent sized buffet. After that, all down hill. There is not enough money for me to justify taking cold showers. The room was reasonably clean, but there was small litter outside my door when I checked in, and when I left after 3 nights, it was still there. The hotel is right in front of a small square where taxis park. The windows have large gaps, and don’t close properly. You hear every peddler, every taxi, every horn. Plus the place is home to several pigeons that sit outside your window. So loud. Lastly, I had a open bottle of rum on top of my fridge. When maid cleaned room, she took or threw it out. Hotel did nothing about it
DO NOT REQUEST THE TRANSPORTATION FROM THE HOTEL. they scam you; and the hotel doesn’t take the responsibility! Also, the hotel is not like the pictures! It’s dirty, smells awful and the locks of the door doesn’t close properly; and they charge you extra for a security box that OPENS with a key! Not a code! In addition, the hotel is not on a good neighborhood, lots of homeless and NOT safe.
This is an average hotel with a great location. Cartagena is one of Colombia's more expensive cities so if you want luxury you will pay first world prices. This place is a budget option that takes care of the basics and not much else. It does serve as an excellent base to explore Cartagena's historic sites. Would only recommend for budget travelers who don't want to stay in a crowded hostel. Value For Money: 3/5 Security: 3/5 Location: 4/5 Facilities: 3/5 Staff: 4/5 Cleanliness: 3/5
We stayed at the Stil for four nights and then returned for a further night after a 2 night visit to Playa Blanca. The hotel/rooms were by no means luxurious but provided sufficient comfort for sleeping and it was in a good location for seeing the city. Our first room was on the 10th floor (small supplement paid at time of booking for this) and it was spacious with two separate beds, air conditioning, flat screen tv and working wifi. The signal wasn't the best but was ok for checking messages etc. As previous reviews state, there is no hot water but we knew this before booking and decided this wouldn't be an issue for us. Actually even if we had hot water we probably wouldn't have used it as the cool showers were perfect. Breakfast was a bit of a shambles as things kept running out and were not replaced and the lady checking off the room numbers at the entranxce looked like she was being held there as a hostage not cracking a smile for 4 days. In general the reception staff seemed ok and were more than happy to keep our luggage secure for 2 days whilst we took a short break to Playa Blanca. When we came back for 1 night, we were given a room on the 9th floor pretty identical to the previous room but with a nicer brighter bathroom.…
Property is ok, front desk staff is okay but they take your passport when you check in, not sure why but it didn't make me feel at ease the gentleman that carried the bag to my room tried to kiss me and was forceful! I didn't report because i was solo and he didn't rape me or anything...but he was creepy and kept knocking on my door i left after a few nights!
