Stayed here 5 nights over new years, hotels in Cartagena tends to be all booked up and very expensive during that period. Location is good, it's within the walled city so it's a short walk to everything and it's on a quiet road. But the property itself could really do with some major refurbishment, especially in the guest rooms. The...

There are certain features that I consider basic when selecting a hotel. Electricity is one of them. When we arrived to the Hotel Casa Real, it was the middle of the night, and the electricity in the neighborhood was out. The man who checked us in (him no English, us limited Spanish) made no attempt to explain the situation or...

You can't find a better location in town. I was born and raised in Cartagena until age 11 and visit my city once every 2 years, so I know about locations. The hot tub was a disater but the pool and location in general very decent. the staff was helpful and the best part is Lienzo, the Gourmet coffee shop...

Great spot to unwind after a long day wandering the streets of the old city. Giselle and the staff there are super attentive to your needs. Modest rooms, AC that works, hot water (a little low on the pressure side so be patient) they are doing some improvements to the property so expect a little noise during the daytime. Breakfast...

Cartagena is a really busy town and we were there over Easter, which made it even busier. Casa Real provided a lovely haven, tucked away off the street and peaceful and quiet. The room was large and the bed huge. Yes, it is old and a bit faded, but it is not expensive by local standards and it is friendly...

I am going to the trouble of writing a review as this hotel is in a good location and is in a potentially attractive old house with a classic Spanish courtyard. However, I stayed in January 2016, and: the room safe was broken (a room safe is a must in Colombia), the ceiling fan and light did not operate (although...

We had originally booked at a different B&B two streets over where the rooms were awful. The room we ultimately found on the third floor at Casa Real was spacious, thoughtfully furnished with beautiful views out the window across the courtyard and towards the sea. Staff were wonderful, particularly Keli, with helping us get setup and organizing travel when we...

This is a pretty traditional colonial style small hotel with character. The rooms are an ok size with air con and a TV (fuzzy picture) but the bathrooms are very small. The hotel is a close enough walk to the main attractions, but far enough so you don't have any noise. There is a nice little pool to relax by...

“If you stay on the third floor there are no elevators. The pool is by the first floor rooms but guests are quiet. The main thing for us if we stay there again will be to ask for a larger bathroom. The air conditioning is very good, there is a small fridge, a safe and a hair dryer.”
