We absolutely loved our stay here, and we would go back as the experience was great. The location is great! The costumer service is fantastic, everyone was so nice and helpful. Always giving us great advise, and recommendations for places to visit, and things to eat. They were all super attentive, and they have 24/7 front desk support. Location: The hotel is located inside the walled city, on the Centro Historico. Steps away from the Torre del Reloj. It's actually walking distance to everything, including Getsemani (at least it was for us, and we were there with my mother). You can find great restaurants, discos, icecream stores, shopping and pretty much anything around it. However, please be aware that with it's centric location you will also see and hear a lot of movement around it, so if you are a light sleeper, take notice. It did not affect us at all, as we are deep sleepers, so the centric location was great for us! The reception: When you get to the hotel, they welcome you with a complimentary drink, which was very delicious. The place feels as if you had stepped through a time portal, and went back to the colonial times. So cool. They offer free coffee, books that you can borrow, and some binders with recommended tours and attractions. The front desk ladies that were in when we first got there, were supper attentive, and made the check-in process a super easy experience. Room: We stayed in the room called La Republica, and it is a beautiful room. It has a balcony to the main street full of flowers, a living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bedroom on the main floor of the suite offers a little more privacy as it has a door, however, we believe this is the secondary room, as the bed is smaller than the king size bed that you can find on the second floor. The bathroom here is slightly bigger than the one found on the second floor, however, please keep in mind that they are on the smaller size. The AC can be set at a lower temperature here as well, as the room can be closed off and has it's own AC unit. To get to the second floor, you will need to use the spiral staircase. The bed on the second floor is huge, and you can find the hair dryer there as well. The bathroom is smaller than the one on the first floor. The AC for this room is shared with the rest of the unit, so it can get a little hotter than expected. It is still nowhere near as hot as it gets outside (yes, Cartagena is VERY hot). Note: Because there is a balcony to the main street, the suite can get loud at night, however it has extra wooden doors that you can close on top of the glass doors, and that will help with the noise. Extras: The hotel offers free breakfast. We ate the breakfast at the hotel everyday, as the food was delicious. Things to know, the juice comes from very interesting fruits, my husband loved them, but I was not into them. They mostly change the juice per day. The bowls with fruits were very good, the fruit served is very fresh. There's a small pool on the second floor, same floor as the room we were staying in. It's very cute, but it is small. The water stays pretty warm as the weather in Cartagena is super hot. I loved it. There's a jacuzzi on the rooftop, you need to ask the front desk before using it, but it's beautiful up there. However, you do need to go up a more difficult spiral staircase than the one in the room. It was an adventure for me, but my husband and my mother did not find it difficult. The bedroom has a small fridge with water, beers, sodas and cold wine. These cost extra, but they are there in case you need it. We found the prices to be ok, but you can still find better prices on supermarkets or drugstores. Overall, we loved the place, we loved the staff, and we would go back as it was an awesome experience.

Wonderful! It was my husbands birthday and the family suite was just what we needed. The staff were fantastic, they all remembered his birthday. Each member of staff, spectacular. The room was spacious for our chill out time, the sofa so cosy, the shower amazing! The aircon was good, but even in all the humidity, the room stayed cool so was not really needed all the time. Walking distance from everywhere. We originally booked an Airbnb, which when we turned up in the evening was in darkness, due to the heavy rains had no electricity, so no shower, no wifi, no way to charge our phones! Just darkness. I had a scout through the sleepless night for somewhere to stay, my husbands birthday ruined. The Alfiz popped up. So two sleep deprived, unwashed tourists knocked on the door of the Alfiz and were greeted by a lovely lady who offered us coffee and drinks, wifi, air con and said they had a double room for one night and the family suite for the reminder of our nights! We had just spent a week in Peru (Machu Picchu etc) and Cartagena was supposed to be our chill out time! When she sorted us out, I was nearly in tears (nearly - no I was in tears) Thank you! And we were rewarded with experiencing 2 rooms, fantastic both of them. The breakfast staff were lovely, everyone on reception, lovely! Yes there is some noise, but I slept great every night and it is the centre of Cartagena, which is beautifully historic, but from stepping off the plane, I could see it was a bit if a party town, and you cannot expect to stay in the centre of a city, in an old converted building and expect silence. There is an Airbnb next door, who were also on holiday and I mentioned from the balcony when I saw them on theirs that I could hear their music, they offered to turn it down, offered us a drink, but I was like hey, you are on holiday too and it didn’t prevent me from sleeping, reading my book or relaxing, it was just great being in the middle of a wonderful, beautiful and vibrant city! We had a balcony overlooking the street, where everyone would stop to take their instagram shots with the pretty Alfiz exterior in their shot, I absolutely loved watching the life of Cartagena from the balcony. They recommended a spa for a great birthday massage treat. The property reminded me of a Relais & Châteaux place we had stayed in some years earlier, it would definitely fall into that category. Highly recommended.

A gem of a boutique hotel in Cartagena. Comfortable, clean, with a great staff. Very quiet which was pleasantly surprising considering its location in the heart of the city. The hotel breakfast was a treat with tropical fruits, juices, and a hot dish made-to-order. Great AC which is essential this time of year. We felt safe and secure during the entire stay. We had a second-floor 2-level suite which was great but anyone with mobility issues should book a ground floor suite. Should we be lucky enough to return to Cartagena, we'll surely stay at the Alfiz.

Beautiful boutique Hotel. Staff were caring and friendly. My wife was under the weather. Staff made a fresh chicken soup for her and asked about her health throughout our stay. Breakfast was lovely fruit, eggs, coffee and more. Location was great and allowed for walks to attractions, the Wall and more. Always felt safe. Highly recommend the Alfiz Hotel

What a wonderful and beautiful boutique hotel! Located in the heart of the old walled city of Cartegena, it is not far from literally everything. Most everything you could want is within walking distance, which is good because after sundown, not many cars are allowed in certain areas. The rooms were great, with a/c, wifi, a nicely stocked mini-bar (water, wine, beer, and soda), TV, and complete charm that was QUIET. I was a little nervous the first night when you could still hear the people outside within the courtyard (all courtyards are open in Cartagena), but as soon as we got in our room, no noise! Breakfast every morning was delicious! Fresh juice, fruit, eggs, and really good Colombian coffee! The staff was amazing. They were really good with answering questions, and made several recommendations and reservations for dinners. They did not steer us wrong! They were also able to hook us up with a personal tour of Cartagena, which was just wonderful. I also really enjoyed hanging in the pool and the library room right across the hall from the office. It was a nice way to relax after a long day of walking, exploring, and shopping (yes, the good shopping is also around right the corner!). I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an upscale boutique experience embracing the charm of Cartagena.

Beautiful small hotel with great staff and good breakfast. The tiny roof terrace was an unexpected bonus & the location of the hotel is unbeatable. I stayed on the top floor and my room was pretty large, with a huge shower/tub. The only thing I didn't like were the union jack pillow covers 🤣

My husband and I, along with our friend, spent 5 nights - we had a junior suite and she had a standard room. The suite was split level, so take into consideration the stairs - it was not a problem for us. Both rooms were very comfortable and we loved the traditional Colombian design. They have a beautiful “library” where my husband enjoyed sitting and reading. We loved everything about this hotel! Location is perfect to explore the Walled City and neighboring Getsamani on foot. It was very quiet, day and night. Breakfast, made to order, was excellent - served in their lovely courtyard. And above all, the staff are amazing! So kind and so helpful. We could not have been happier and highly recommend. There are only eight rooms so book early!!!

My husband and I just returned from a 3 night stay at this charming hotel with an amazing location right in the Centro Historico. You ring the bell at a large, old wooden door marked with an "A" and are now inside this lovely 8 room hotel with a small central courtyard garden, small sitting room, library, and place for breakfast al fresco. The furnishings are well-loved and old-school, but comfortable and functional. We stayed in the Viceroy room which is huge. Yes, you can hear the outside chaos and you should expect nothing less in the Centro Historico. What really stands out here is the warm and gracious staff who knew who we were and took care of all our needs (including airport transfers, a surprise room decoration and birthday cake, and quickly arranged for a private boat tour of the islands when we had to change our original plans). The included breakfast was tranquil and delicious. And all of this was very, very reasonably priced. This travel diva has stayed at many of the finest hotels around the world and would give this gem of a property highest recommendations! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A lovely historic, welcoming, small, very clean hotel in a great location. We enjoyed being surrounded by the reminders of the history of the building and the city. The ambiance was authentic, never pretentious, and comfortable, with the extras that make it special - decorations for our anniversary, coffee in a delightful library, excellent breakfast, bathrobes, large bathtub, quality linens and fun room designs. Room was spacious and well furnished, with a great shower. The staff was helpful and courteous.
