This is absolutely an outstanding, amazing, breath-taking hotel. We stayed at the beach-house as well as the Maloka house. Both of them are amazing. The Maloka is more luxury and comfortable than the beach-house. The Maloka has a really nice veranda and a well decorated general room. The beach house is just a crazy once in a lifetime experience. It... More

My husband and I stayed at Barlovento Maloka (the lodge set back from the ocean) for 3 nights in February and loved it! Great staff, delicious food and the room was large, clean and comfortable. No hot water but this is not unusual in Colombia, especially on the coast where it is hot. We had a great view of the... More

This was the last place we stayed on our trip to Colombia's Caribbean coast and it was hands down the best property. It was so nice in fact that we never went to Tayrona National Park!! (I had been there before). Just ideal for relaxing, taking in jaw dropping views and walking the beach. The dinner was delicious. We easily... More

We stayed four nights in the cabana (and added an additional night in maloka as we were enjoying the location and setting so much). The cabanas were amazing - literally built on top of the beach. It is a basic set-up, open to to sound of the wind and waves, which we loved. Maloka is set back from the beach,... More

We stayed at the Cabaña Barlovento for a few nights. The service couldn't be better. Great staff, super friendly and kind. The breakfast was very good but the best was the dinner meals, they were delicious. Great juices and fantastic salads. The place was like taking from a fantasy movie, the River Piedras reaches the Caribbean right under the balcony... More

You will see even on this page that the picture representing the structure is that of the house built on the beach. Well, that is not the case. Maloka Barlovento is a beautiful, beautiful design villa just behind it. It has a marvellous dining area with communal table, hammocks and a large sofa. It features three rooms with view over... Thanks so much for your review. It is indeed wise to be aware of the difference between Cabaña and Maloka. The Cabaña, which is the original house of the property, has been kept as built 40 years ago by one of Colombia´s leading architects, Simon Velez. The house lays over a cliff on top of the ocean and although many... More

We stayed at Cabaña in the suite. The view from this place is absolutely incredible. The breakfast is decent and dinner is pretty good. While some people might not like the fact that the staff leaves after dinner we actually didn't mind since the rest of the people in the place were good company. I would recommend you heed the... Stayed in Barlovento Cabanas And Malaka. It's in a unique and very beautiful location between sea and river. Nice views on river, jungle and sunset on one side and sea and sunrise on other. The Cabana is on a little hill directly at sea and offers one suite (friends of ours rented that) and 3 very basic "rooms" with direct... More

We stayed there 1 night, We had a room at the entry of the forest looking at the see from a rocking chair . The hotel is relatively vintage, people do not speak English. We splurged ($180 per night, breakfast and dinner included) to stay at this amazing hotel (specifically we stayed at the cabanas at Barlovento). It was truly a unique and amazing experience. It’s located right where the river meets the ocean and our room was literally hanging over the waves. The food and company were both amazing. Highly recommended on either... More
