Detailed Reviews
Our family (2 adults plus kids ages 11 and 8) spent 5 nights at the Angermeyer. Through our tour agency (Ecoluxury Group), we booked two rooms that were connected by a balcony giving a setup more like a suite that was perfect for providing space and privacy. The hotel's website is a bit sparse in terms of information, but do not be concerned. We found the location beautiful, the rooms comfortable, and the staff super helpful and friendly. We built great relationships with several staff during our stay, and they were highly attentive in ensuring we had meals and transportation at the right times to enable connecting to our daily scheduled tours. We loved the hotel location. It's located about a 2 minute water taxi ride from the main port (80 US cents per person per ride). The location provides the beauty and serenity of being waterfront with a bit less activity and noise than the main port. Our kids also greatly enjoyed swimming in the waters right out front of the hotel in an area separated from the main boat traffic by a rope connected to the dock. The food was also excellent (great flavors, large portions), and my wife (who is gluten free) had plenty of good options. Our itinerary had us away from the hotel for most of the day (3 boat trips and one day shopping / touring sites in the main port) but the hotel was a perfect morning / evening base and a great spot for some afternoon fun in the water.

This upscale boutique hotel has an ideal location - on the bay a five- minute water taxi ride from the hustle and bustle of central Puerto Ayora. Service was attentive and friendly throughout our three-day stay, and the property is beautifully maintained. The restaurant attached to the hotel is quite good, but the desk can direct you to many other good choices in the town. There’s ready access to lots of water activities and wildlife viewing opportunities.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
This hotel is right on the waterfront overlooking the bay where boats anchor and water taxi boats move about throughout the day. In fact you need to take a water taxi (US$1) to get to the hotel. We stayed in a basic room and had a balcony with a partial ocean/bay view that was great.
Hot water worked well and WiFi worked decently well (but not like in the US or mainland Ecuador) and was many times better than our hotel on Isabella Island though we were told if the hotel is full with many users it can be very slow. We did find our US carriers’ daily international travel plans (Verizon and AT&T) provided local 3G data service to get work emails as as backup if needed.
Food at the hotel restaurant, including the breakfast, was delicious and the menu has a variety of options.
All staff at reception and the restaurant were super friendly and wonderful and most spoke enough English to easily communicate if you don’t speak Spanish. Phillipe was super helpful in answering our questions about the island and nearby beach (one is a 5 minute walk away). The staff were also extremely helpful in receiving and working with our mainland Ecuador travel agency to return to me some items I accidentally left on Isabella Island that could not get to me before we departed the Galapagos.
We’d definitely recommend this hotel if staying in Puerto Arroyo and hope to be back some day.

We are so glad we stayed at the Angermeyer Water front Inn for several reasons. Crossing the bay from Puerto Ayora to the Inn was a 5 minute ride, $1 per person and an exciting way to travel to and from the town. We stayed in a superior room with balcony overlooking the bay and enjoyed watching all the activity. The room was very comfortable and all the staff were friendly and helpful. On the hotel property is the Isla Grill Restaurant where we ate a delicious breakfast each morning and enjoyed cocktails and dinner in the evenings.

Great stay. Awesome locale. Very friendly staff. Rooms quaint, nice and incredible view. The water taxis went on strike one day and Angermeyer immediately accomodated with other hotel for water shuttle and able to get us into town for dinner. Their outside dining area overlooks Puerta Ayora harbor and close water taxi to docks (and fun too). Lot of wildlife surrounds docks as well. Would have sucked to have poor accomodations in Galapagos. Angermeyer exceeded expecations. Thank you.

It great to to sit at our table in the open air restauraunt, watching a lava heron fishing while we ate our locally sourced fish. Young sharks were visible in the water below us. We were fortunate to have rooms with large balconies overlooking the harbour. Stepping over a sea lion to acccess the ferry for the short ride to the town was a bonus.

Dear Rebecca, Thank you very much for reaching us through TripAdvisor to leave comments based on your experience staying with us at Angermeyer Waterfront Inn. It was a pleasure to host you during your stay! The wildlife here have called Santa Cruz their home for many generations before us, many times stepping over a lazy sea lion is just part of Galapagos life! It truly is impressive to watch the exhibit of natural life displayed from the restaurant or directly from your private balcony. We are so glad you stayed with us, thank you!

I stayed in a Fridgate room, while being on my vacation. The room was very small and barely had any place to pack out the luggage. The room did not include a desk, so I couldn't do any study. The breakfast was not very convenient as it wasn't a swiss table type. Every time you want to go to city, you have to use a water taxi, that everytime waits minimum 5 minutes before leaving, as to get as many passengers. In the city, it would cost 0 dollars to get to the bay, but here it costs 1 dollar per passenger one way. I have spent about 18 dollars extra in total for that during my trip. The hotel is good, but I cannot rate more than 3 stars for it. The staff were extremely attentive, but to the point of annoyance, however, some people may enjoy that.

We loved it here. 1. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, before our trip and after. 2. The room was comfortable and clean. We had a corner room overlooking the water. 3. The location was amazing. We had our New Year's Eve dinner right on the water. We overlooked the water while eating our delicious meal. We saw a black tipped shark, a spotted eagle ray, swimming iguana, and amusing sea lions.
They also arranged a tour and driver when we first arrived on Balta Island (where the island is) Both our tour guide and driver met us and took us to see tortoises on a reserve, as well as having a great lunch there. So basically, a worry-free trip. We just enjoyed ourselves. We also had a driver to take us to the cruise port - we loved him. He was learning English and was a very safe driver.
Although many people come to Galapagos to go on a cruise, I think you could see many things using Angermeyer as a starting point. There are day cruises to other islands.
This is how you get to Angermeyer. Arrive at airport in Baltra; we had a driver and tour guide meet us at the airport; get on a bus to take you to a ferry (10 minutes); get on the ferry (10 minutes); then they drive to downtown Santa Cruz (about an hour): they take your luggage and you get on a small boat which takes you to the Angermeyer dock. You can use the boat to get to/from the hotel into town (5-10 minutes).
There are sea lions and iguanas on the city docks. We saw a new born sealion on one of our trips to town.
The wifi is good too.
If I head back to Galapagos, I will stay here again.

I’m here with my children and they’re holding an open-air dance party at their own restaurant about 10 meters from my room. We can’t sleep. I asked them to turn it down and they gave me earplugs. Finally fell asleep after an all-night flight. Woke up again when they cranked the music so loud I couldn’t sleep with earplugs. Walked to desk and asked them to fix it. Said they would and didn’t. It’s after 11:00PM now and party is still cranking. I was never warned there would be a party.

Hello, yes we're open right now, thank you!
We never saw anyone smoking anywhere we went. Also never saw any signage. I was a bit surprised but happily.
Unless you want to spend a day or 2 in Quito I suggest flying directly to Guayaquil. All flights to the Galápagos Islands go through Guayaquil. The biggest airport is on Baltra Island, a very short bus and ferry ride to Santa Cruz Island, where most people stay.
