This is a truly wonderful boutique hotel! Our family of five, including three kids ages 6-14, stayed there for a week and we absolutely loved it. The rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious and very comfortable. The entire hotel is absolutely spotless and it is conveniently located right in the middle of all action. The owners worked really hard on making our stay as enjoyable as possible, constantly anticipating our needs, arranging excursions and adjusting breakfast schedule if needed, providing useful tips and countless other small gestures for which we are extremely grateful. This was truly a home away from home and we could not recommend it more highly.
It was our very time to visit Galapagos and in our family, we had a teenager as well as a four year-old boy. Needless to say, our requirements and interests varied over a wide range. Jose and Blanca, who own the beautiful hotel, catered to our every detailed needs. There were details they thought of in advance of us! Since our stay was considered fairly long (over a week), we were awarded the rooftop rooms. Every morning we opened our glass doors to glorious sunshine and warm tropical breeze of the island. Since we stayed during the Pandemic period, we had no clue what was open and operational. Once again, Jose and Blanca came to our rescue. They advised us on tour agencies to use, and provided us with recommendations that would cater to the adventures that our teenager yearned yet enabled our little toddler to join some parts. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is 30 seconds walk to the main avenue but quiet enough for us to enjoy a good night's rest after full day activities. Walk to the pier was only 5 - 10 minutes and there were many restaurants to choose from. Last but not least, I must say the hotel restaurant's food is exceptional! Each dish is made with exquisite taste and passion. Our family will definitely return to Galapagos, and for sure we will stay at La Isla again, only for an even longer duration next time!…
We have nothing but good things to say about La Isla. My wife and I had planned a dive trip to the Galapagos well before COVID arrived and we were apprehensive about going ahead with a trip in September, though we decided to go for it. While the dive trip was already booked, we didn't have a hotel (or really anything else!) booked for the few days before and after the dive trip. La Isla was recommended to us by someone on the liveaboard staff and we couldn't have been happier with how it all turned out. We ended up treating La Isla as a 'home base' of sorts and stayed there for 4 nights before our liveaboard and 3 nights afterwards. Jose and Blanca treated us extremely well and were an extraordinary help in finding, suggesting, and booking day trips/excursions. Several of the operations were closed or operating irregularly due to the ever-changing COVID rules, so their help was invaluable. I can honestly say we probably would not have had as memorable of a trip as we did without their help. With specific regard to COVID, we felt very safe while staying there. All the staff wore masks, hand sanitizer was easily available, and the entire hotel was kept very clean. There weren't very many guests there, but you could tell their staff hadn't missed a beat on making sure the hotel looked and performed top-notch. The hotel itself only had a few other guests that were there, and most of them from mainland Ecuador. We may have been the first American guests to have stayed there since the pandemic began in March. Things were certainly relatively quiet in town, but the hotel is in a central location with easy walking to open restaurants, the ferry terminal, a grocery store, the Darwin Research Station, and other shops. Breakfast in the morning was also excellent and they were accommodating to the schedule we had planned for the day. The food was excellent, fresh, and varied. The juice, served with breakfast, was a highlight (strawberry, blackberry, passionfruit, and several others). Without a doubt, our trip wouldn't have been the same without La Isla. To Jose, Blanca, and your kids (who are just as kind, helpful, and budding hotel management professionals, I might add) a massive thank you!…
With a great central position in the town of Puerto Ayora, La Isla is a lovely hotel with incredibly friendly staff - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay for 5 nights in February. Don’t let the rather dingy outlook onto backstreet Indefatigable put you off - this is a delightful hotel. Our room was very well appointed and spacious with an incredibly comfortable bed, and stepped out onto a rooftop deck with loungers and a hot tub. Also great breakfasts and a lovely bar area! Would highly recommend.
As you arrive into Santa Cruz you feel a little worried as to where the taxi is taking you as you seem to go up a back street but it's just a one way road. The hotel is situated only 50 yards from the main road but you can't hear the traffic, it's just a perfect location. We were greeted with a loving kind welcome and we had a room on the second floor which was stunning, immaculately clean and tide. It smelt so clean and fresh too. On the second floor (the top floor) there is a stunning very well maintained Hot Tub and Sun loungers and chairs and tables incase you find any time to relax here on Santa Cruz as there is so much to do. The main strip is only 50yards away where you will FIND everything you need for your holiday including restaurant's, bars, and all the tourist shops. Please don't worry about trying to prebook all your trips as the reception staff here at the hotel will book all of the trips you wish to do and give you a great price! They will organise taxi pick up and drop off when ever you want. We emailed ahead and they had a driver collect us from Balta Airport water port. The bar area is also the dining area which also is very well maintained, super clean and tidy. Breakfast is a light offering with fresh fruits, breads, eggs, bacon or sausage on different days all cooked fresh along with cereals, a toaster and teas and coffee the bar is very well stocked with local and international alcohols. It is air conditioned too as are all the hotel rooms. The bedroom The bedroom has large double doors which you have to open with an electronic key fob but they only are unlocked for around 8 seconds then they lock in the place where they are currently at so you will need to press the fob again. This is the same to exit. The bed was very large with crisp white sheets and lovely soft clean towels in the shower room. They provide you with eco friendly shampoo and conditioner. They provide you with fresh drinking water each day in your room and also in the reception area which is all free of charge as you can not drink the water here on Santa Cruz. On the first floor you have 2 chill out areas. The inside is lovely and smart. Comfy sofa area with a state of the art smart curved TV and then an outside area which is shaded off from the heat with comfy small sofas to relax and have a beer. On the roof top the view is lovely. You can see the ocean and the sunrise is beautiful. I loved my visit to this hotel and I would highly highly recommend staying here as its so welcoming and the staff are just so caring and seem to genuinely care for all their guest. Thank you so so. Much for our visit. We have loved the hotel and all the staff so so much. …
