The hotel was clean and sufficiently appointed. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The pool was small but clean. The location of the hotel is also extremely convenient as there were numerous places to eat or shop within a short distance. The only negatives were that some rooms have a window which faces into the hall which means we heard every word of someone's conversation. It would also be nice if there was a place to refill our water. I asked someone from the staff and they kindly went and filled it, but it would have been nice to have a self-service option.

Stayed for 3 nights and would NOT stay here again. Room was in “B” block which was above the laundry facilities so there was a constant rumble all night. Receptionist smirked the next morning when asked about the noise as if expecting complaint. Reluctantly the receptionist agreed to move our rooms but only 2 floors up (no elevators and lots of luggage and staff not willing to help). No difference in constant rumbling noise. In fact noise wise it got worse; not sure if this was staff quarters or just no general respect for night time at this hotel. Coming and going’s all night with people talking loudly and slamming doors in the corridors with no consideration of time/others. For the price range this was the most expensive and worst hotel we experienced in the whole of our Galapagos travels and offered the least in the way of facilities (no shower extras, breakfast or even drinking water). On checkout day cleaning staff came into the room 3 times before the 10am checkout time. After the third time the cleaner just stood outside the room waiting so by 9.30am we gave up and left the room for them to carry on. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

We stayed for 4 nights. Pros: Very clean. Great pool. Great location, close to everything. Cons: Can get noisy with Ecuadorian travellers blaring their TV’s early in the morning and late at night. Only windows open into the corridor so you hear everything everyone is doing. Wifi is only available in the courtyard downstairs. Breakfast not included.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Espana. The gentlemen at reception was rude and unhelpful. Please note, this hotel will only accept cash payments. CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL INCUR 10% SURCHARGE!! The room only had two small old bath towels and two small blocks of soap. Not even a floor towel (just a thin rubber mat). Every night after a shower we would be walking around on a wet floor. The bathroom floor stayed wet all night, the next day it felt like we were still walking in water. No window in the bathroom. Just a small hole higher in the ceiling. WIFI only works in the reception area. Even though the staff say it's slow and that's the case all through Galapagos. The WIFI in reception area isn't that slow. We've experience slowly at other hotels. This hotel is more like a hostel. A hostel room, with a private ensuite and aircon. Curtains in the room were terrible. People could still see through the side of the curtain windows even when they were down. When all the lights were off in our room, the hallway light would still come through. Making it hard to sleep. Breakfast was very basic and unorganised, you have to ask for the items (like getting a cup of tea). Food wasnt just laid out like other hotels. There is NO fruit included in breakfast. Bed was uncomfortable, felt like we were sleeping a foam mattress. We've stayed on alot of different islands accross the world, and this hotel by far was the worse. If we could do it over, we would not stay here or recommend this hotel to anyone. Pay a bit more and stay elsewhere for comfort. Terrible facilities and service. Entry cost to Galapagos as at 26th June 2019: $20 USD transit control fee payable at the airport $100 USD entry fee payable at any Islands within Galapagos. At Baltra Island, you will pay $5 USD for the bus from Airport to Ferry terminal (which takes about 10mins) $1 USD ferry payable onboard Bus from Ferry to Santa Cruz Island.

The hotel has a good location (5min walk from the port, a minimarket next door, many tour agencies closeby) and is probably one of the bigger on the island (couple of stories, many rooms, and a small swimming pool by the reception). The reception spoke English but could have been a bit more friendly and welcoming. My room was spacious and had AC. A TV was also available in my room but didn't work properly (all channels with a lot of noises so that it was better to not make use of it). The room had a strong smell of chloride and there were tiny, tiny bugs on the wall crawling onto the bed. There were no electronic outlet next to the bed so that I had to charge my electronical devices at the other end of the room. What was a bit annoying is that there were small overhead windows in the bathroom and in the room itself facing the hallway. This led to a lot of noise during the night and as the lights only switch off at a later hour, one would lie in the bed trying to sleep while there's the hallway light shining into the room.
