This hostel is located just a few blocks from the main port so any point you may want to reach is located close by. Tortuga Bay is 2.5. km away and the Darwin Research Center is 1km. Tours are offered by the owners and my friend and I took a great trip to the highlands with the owner. He pointed out plants and sights of interest and also served as our guide in the lava tubes and on the tortoise reserve. It was one of the least expensive tours in town at $45 for two people and was an absolute highlight of the trip. The rooms are spacious, brightly decorated and have a refrigerator which is a big plus in this region but hard to find in hotels and hostels. The early check in time of 11AM is very convenient if you are arriving by ferry from one of the other islands. And there is a water station in the lobby for refills which is convenient. And again, the owners and staff members are very friendly and welcoming and they appreciate garbled attempts at Spanish if you don't happen to be a fluent speaker. …
The hostel is centrally located. On one hand the footpath to the beach is easy to reach, on the other hand you can reach the harbour or the city centre quickly. The hostel has spacious rooms, which are quite comfortable and clean. The staff is not very helpful and not charming. You don't feel very welcome. For example, we had problems with the Wifi password, but they were rather reluctant to help us. There is no breakfast, but this is not a problem, as many restaurants can be reached quickly. All in all the accommodation is very cheap and the price-performance ratio is ok. For an overnight stay it has fulfilled its purpose.
It was quick and easy to walk from here to the two main streets in Puerto Ayora. Not only were the facilities immaculate, but the second story balcony is a pleasant place to pass some time. If the WiFi isn’t very good, that seems pretty ubiquitous on Santa Cruz, and the shower was better than expected.
The good news is the location. It is clean also. A bit weird to have to keep ringing the bell to get someone to open our room....since there were three of us and one key and not always someone right at reception. The most challenging was that our friends were told that their room was available for a second night, only to be told in the morning that the room was booked to others ...they knew the day before and did not tell them...so we had to scramble to find a new place for them. Not very kind to do to them. Good water pressure and warm shower.
Although we arrived without a reservation, the helpful host assigned us a room immediately. It was not available for all 3 nights that we wanted to stay, but he moved us to an adjacent room for the next 2 nights. The beds were large and comfortable. Location very convenient.
