We had a really wonderful weekend! cannot wait to go again! rooms were clean, linens were fresh! and the kitchen utensils were stocked! bathrooms were immaculate. indoor pool was clean and the kids loved it as the outside was chilly. Great time all around
If you are offered room 117 or room 118 at Desert Sand check in, beware! Differently from all other units with central air these two rooms on the first floor are equipped with awfully loud wall air conditioners located two feet away from the bed. Apparently 117 and 118 have been converted from broom closets or utility rooms to maximize owner’s profit. Would you like to maximize your vacation experience with sleepless night because it’s literally impossible to sleep with noisy air conditioner on? For us the answer is clear: NO AND NEVER AGAIN! Plus as many reviewers have mentioned, wi-fi is almost non-existent at this resort. So, when you go online unable to sleep because of the noise you will find no internet connection. Worst experience ever!
Stayed here for two nights with my daughter and two grandchildren. This place was just right! It had an indoor and outdoor (heated) pool. It’s a short walk to the beautiful beach. Plenty of parking spaces. We stayed in a One bedroom with kitchenette. The kitchenette was modern and well stocked. The bedding was comfy. The housekeeping staff does a thorough job... this place was spotless! Freshly laundered towels placed every day when returned from the beach. The staff was very nice.. The management and staff here are doing everything right! We would definitely return. We had a wonderful stay.
We stay at Dessert Sands with the kids every year. Great room options, small pool area but it works out fine. Great beach across the street. There is a small restaurant on the adjacent property and very convenient with good food. The front desk has board games that you can sign out for free.
If you are looking to go to the beach and unplug this is the perfect place as the wifi rarely works. That being said our room was clean. The kitchen has a fridge and freezer which is larger than a mini fridge and can hold large items like gallons of milk and ice cream. The kitchen lacks a lot of cooking tools but has the basics. It would be helpful for kitchen cleaning if there was a sponge. This hotel is in walking distance to the beach. It is also a perfect place to access both the towns of Stone Harbor and Avalon. You should know that there is only one parking spot per unit which can be an issue in the high peak seasons. Also, starting next year, they are only providing two beach tags per unit instead of one for every adult staying in the unit.
