The Pension de la Plage is a lovely, homely family-run motel on the ring road. The owners and staff were really friendly and helpful, and spoke a moderate amount of English - although it helps if you at least try to speak some French as that’s the national language. Our

Basic amenities for the price and average service. No jug to boil water and no tea or coffee but other than that it was somewhere to sleep and shower. We arrived in the middle of a storm and had a day trip away so did not spend that much time there. Pool looked nice and if it

We book this hotel after getting off a cruise ship and having to spend the entire day on Tahiti before our flight home. The owners and staff went out of the way to make us feel comfortable. The pool is refreshing and rooms are large. There is a restaurant that services the

When we visited Pension de la Plage Tahiti in December, 2016, transportation from airport to pension on arrival and pension to airport on departure was arranged by the pension. Not sure if it was included in basic room price or not. Generally, public transit in French Polynesia is unpredictable. If the bus is already full, it will drive past you and one never knows when the next one might come. Pension de la Plage is quite a distance from Papeete which is the main centre. On other Polynesian islands, hitch hiking is part of the culture and next vehicle to pass you will give you a ride. No one just drives by unless their vehicle is totally full. But, I don't recall seeing people hitch-hiking on Tahiti Island. Car rentals are expensive in Polynesia and be prepared to pay $100 per day. We rented a car for just three days on Tahiti and also rented on Bora Bora, Tahaa, Huahine and, Moorea. Find this to be good value. 4x4 excursions are available on all the islands, including Tahiti. Majority of times, one sees the back of a small truck with seats facing each other. So, you get a sore neck from twisting around to see the scenery but, what you see most is the people sitting across from you. Rental car, you have nice air conditioning and you go at your own pace with front window view.

Ia ora na, We have rooms available on Mar. 31,2017 We can arrange pick up with a taxi. The driver awaits you in the airport with your name at your arrival. You have to pay directly the driver (you have a cash machine in the airport). Taxi price by night for airport-pension with two bags is 3500 XPF. To go to the airport the next afternoon, the price to go to the cruise port by day with two bags is 3200 XPF. Normal arrival in the room is from 11:00 (check-in) and the departure of the room is at 10:00 am (check-out). But it is also possible to arrange a late check out (late check-out) for 75% of the price of the room and you can stay until 10pm. Thank you for your ask, Vincent
