Te Moana Tahiti Resort offers a picturesque ocean view and spacious rooms that many guests enjoy, though some areas are described as feeling outdated. Service quality appears to be inconsistent, with the staff earning both praise and criticism.
While the resort's cleanliness receives mixed reviews, the family-friendly amenities like the infinity pool are generally appreciated, despite comments about their upkeep. Travelers are divided on the location, finding it either beautifully secluded or inconveniently distant from Papeete, and some guests feel the resort lacks value for money.

The hotel is okay. I can not mention anything super exciting about it, but it is not bad. My general feeling about the hotel is that it’s pretty basic. The lobby is nicely decorated. My check-in was fast. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, they ordered taxis for me every single time and gave me little tips. The hotel property is not very big, but you can walk around and enjoy the surroundings. The most negative thing about the hotel was that there was no beach! You can go directly into the water from a little pier using stairs, but the area where you can swim is so small and super rocky! I would recommend to wear shoes in the water. The hotel has a very nice swimming pool, but the water there was super cold, I wish they heated it even a little bit. The restaurant on hotel property was busy all the time, many people from outside the hotel came there for dinner every single night. I tried to eat lunch there once, but I did not like my food at all to be honest. Also everything on the menu was really overpriced.
My room (#4207) was big. It had a little separated kitchen area right next to the front door. I liked the balcony and the nice view of the water from it. I did not like the bed at all, it was hard and really uncomfortable. The air conditioner did not work in my room, but I really enjoyed sleeping with the balcony doors open every night, the fresh ocean air was awesome! I liked that the actual toilet and the rest of the bathroom were separate from each other. The bathroom was big, and there was a bathtub and a shower stall there which is great! Meanwhile I did not like the bathroom amenities at all, they were a very bad quality. During the 3 nights stay, I never used room service, but every time when I requested towels they brought them to me pretty fast. Wi-Fi was working terribly in all areas of the hotel including my room. I could barely watch a YouTube video. Hotel’s location is okay. There are some little restaurants around the hotel, but in general there is nothing to do there. The ride to Papeete center is about 20 min, and it is pricy. I paid €22-25 every single time.
I would recommend this hotel just for a layover and like a 2 nights stay. But if you want to have a nice vacation or especially a honeymoon then this hotel is the wrong option for you!

We had tried to book two nights at the Intercontinental in an overwater bungalow but could only get the second night booked. So we stayed at Manava Suites the first night we arrived. Everything the other reviews say is pretty much true, it is a lovely resort but the rooms and some public areas definitely need updating. They are big though, and have a kitchen and living area so it is nice if you want some room to spread out and like to be able to use a microwave, coffeemaker, etc. I knew in advance that food was very expensive here so instead of doing a pricey breakfast I made myself a pack of oatmeal I brought from home using the microwave in the kitchen. It was nice having a fridge to keep our drinks cold and a little store down the street sells mostly anything you might need. The pool area is lovely and the lagoon and view are beautiful. Only complaint I have is that check in and check out both go very slow. There may be only a few people in line but it was at least a 15 - 20 minute wait each time. So schedule accordingly and don't plan on rushing down and checking out in 5 minutes.

My husband and I stayed here on our last night in Tahiti and honestly, we were disappointed. Almost every staff member we spoke with was rude and acted like they didn’t want to be there. It was off putting coming from Moorea where the customer service was incredible.
When we arrived in our room, we noticed the a/c wasn’t working so we called the front desk and they sent someone to come fix it. It still wasn’t working after they left so we called again and they sent someone for the second time. They finally got it working (kind of) but it was a process to do so and it seemed like we were an inconvenience to the front desk, when in fact, we were the one being inconvenienced.
Despite the rudeness and the a/c having to be fixed, we weren’t going to let that ruin our night. We were excited to get ready and have a nice dinner on our last night being in Tahiti so we went to one of the restaurants that was open. The food was mediocre and my husband and I both ended up getting sick from something we ate. Definitely not how we wanted to end our last night.
Our flight wasn’t until 10pm the following night so the next morning we continued to try and make the best of our stay. We went down to the pool and ordered fries (It’s the only thing they said we could order) and cocktails. Once again, we were greeted rudely and the bartender seemed annoyed we were there.
While the food was mediocre, the staff was rude, and the overall experience wasn’t great, the pool is nice and there are plenty of spots to lounge around so you don’t feel overcrowded. They also offer shower rooms you can book to clean up before heading to the airport, which I thought was a great perk.
In my opinion, I would never feel comfortable recommending anyone to stay here. There are so many other resorts on the island that I feel would have better food, better service, and an overall better atmosphere.

Beautiful pool, lagoon! Amazing experience with the sunsets in the PM!
AC did not work in room, no view, floor was loud, bed was like sleeping on a rock, wifi is inaccessible in room have to go to lobby, Mask MASK MASK, got asked by a security to put on my mask when I was sitting by myself on the dock, Hotel staff not friendly,
Tried to reserve another room due to flight cancelation, found it online (Hotels.com) cheaper rate, booked online and needed to change dates. Hotel did not assist in the changes needed, said they did not communicate with 3rd parties. Good for one night before jumping to Moorea or Bora Bora, quality is not to par with their rates. Substandard.

We stayed here for one night on our way to other islands. We had a fantastic beach front room with fantastic views. The room was large and even had a small kitchen with small refrigerator, microwave and 2 burner cooktop. The bathroom was large and there was plenty of closet space.
There is a small beach area and an infinity edge pool which overlooks the water.
Our room rate included breakfast which was buffet style with the option to order hot items off the menu. It was all very good.
We also had one dinner there and my only complaint was that it was extremely limited for vegetarians. The only thing I could order was an appetizer of grilled veggies with mozzarella cheese.
The hotel was about an 10-15 minute ride from the airport. There is also a convenience store a short walk away which was a great place to pick up reasonably priced water and snacks.

In my opinion, the Manava has only updated the lobby, the restaurants, the pool area and bedrooms (not the entire room) of this hotel in Tahiti. I say Tahiti because there is a Manava in Mo'orea, don't confuse them. This one in Tahiti is run down and needs updating. Don't be fooled by pictures of the lobby.
One of the first things I noticed was this ugly prison looking chain link fence someone actually picked out as nice. I would like to know whose idea that was. Bad interior choice.
As soon as I opened the door to our room I could tell the walls were all banged up and dirty. Then I noticed was like that on purpose. Some ugly red texture finish to hide it. Then I noticed how the laminate floor was coming apart and warped like it had been wet. The room is on the 4th floor so it probably wasn't flooded. We are in the tropics so they should have used something more durable.
They do give you a bottle of water on a daily basis and macaroons which were really good but I would not stay here again just for that. It was pretty expensive for such a poor experience. Even if it were for one night to catch a flight the next morning, I would find a place closer to the airport to save money on the taxi ride.
Don't stay here. It's not worth it. I would have stayed in Bora Bora or Mo'orea an extra night for the price of two nights here. Bummer.

I really enjoyed my time at Manava- the location is right next to the public dock where my boat picked up every morning. Breakfast and coffee were a must as this was only one of a couple places open so early in the morning. Teharati, one of the restaurant leads, was such an amazing host and added a ton of value to my time at the hotel. Can't thank her enough for everything she did for me!

Pros: Great Infinity Pool, Awesome Activities Staff, Onsite Dive Shop with great leaders. Rooms with balcony's offer a great view of the lagoon and Mo'orea. Close to airport.
Cons:
The service at the pool bar and restaurant is atrocious. There will literally be 2-3 customers and it can take in excess of 20 minutes to get service and a drink (we timed it comically).
Maintenance: We called the front desk 3x regarding our air conditioning not working at all. Each time they sent a maintenance worker but ultimately did nothing to rectify the situation. For the three-nights we stayed there we slept with the sliding doors open to keep it under a manageable 80 degrees F.
Room: Our room was large and well appointed, if you could get over the intense smell of dead fish coming from the refrigerator and 80 degree temp, it could have been quite nice.
No airport shuttle, shuttle to downtown advertised but costs more than a taxi.

Ia Orana AdamHerried, We very much appreciate your insights on your stay with us and would like to thank you for your candid commentary. Please accept our sincere apologies for the service you received at the pool bar and restaurant. As you know, the hospitality industry is people business. Whenever a hotel relies so greatly on many individuals to perform at high levels, there are bound to be rare occasions when these levels are unfortunately missed. I mention this not as an excuse, but rather in the hope that - as a returning guest - you will consider that your experience was the exception, not the rule. When you are planning your next visit to Tahiti, please contact us directly so that we may assist with your accommodation needs and special requests from the time you make your reservation to the day of your departure. We look forward to hearing from you and to the opportunity to demonstrate our interest in you, as our valued guest. Mauru'uru

We stayed here 1 night as a stop over before leaving Tahiti. I would say way over priced! Room smelled, walls were scratched, and was not in good condition. In addition they were charging $250/person for a New Years meal! Way over priced. I couldn’t wait to leave for the airport.

Don't book a standard room. Those rooms are located on the outside just off a busy roadway. Very noisy with cars driving by all day and until late at night plus lots of noise from other hotel guests coming and going in and out of the hotel. After the first night, I complained and requested to be moved to another room not facing the street. I was told there were none available and they offered me an upgrade to a larger room located in the inner portion of the complex. It was about $40 usd more so I took it just so I could get some sleep.
The standard room was small and dated but good enough for a single traveller. It was clean. Definitely needed more outlets to charge electronic devices. The pool and "lagoon"area is nice and great to hang out, but it gets crowded during the late afternoons/early evening.
The location is decent and not far from a supermarket and within walking distance to couple of local restaurants and food trucks
I would not stay there again unless there is better value for the rooms
