Right on the edge of Periyar National Park, this is a beautiful place to spend a few days. The grounds are extensive with plenty of trees and bamboo, with a nice little swimming pool, some sports courts and an organic farm. the accommodation consists of small, cool and comfortable bungalows and the staff are friendly and efficient. Personally we only...

Great location next to Tiger Reserve. Great trip for animal or bird lovers. Marvellous layout with individuals dual thatched cottages as rooms: villa was splendid. Super restaurant and very pukka bar. Staff were delightful. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Loved the concept of the resort and how they have been so thoughtful of the environment. They compost, have an organic garden, water conservation , solar panels and the 50 mile restaurant only uses produce from a 50 mile radius. They also use only glass bottles in the resort - doing away with plastic which is harmful for health and...

We stayed at Spice Village for 3 days and 2 nights and enjoyed being there. The ecofriendly concept is great. Everyone is helpful and friendly. The food is organic and really good though overpriced. Compared to other hotels there is not very much to chose from especially if you are a vegetarian. Rather strange at a hotel where ecofriendliness is...

If I could give this place a better than excellent rating, I would. It has so much to offer that I don't know where to start. First, the retreat itself. Immaculate luxury cottages which are yet genuinely ecologically friendly, surrounded by a staggering variety of trees and plants. The tranquillity and serenity this commitment to Nature and her wonders brings...

My family and I stayed here for two and a half days and loved it. The cottages were clean and tidy, the food was delicious and nutritious and the staff were kind and helpful and always ready to fulfill our needs however silly they may have been. The pool was clean and chlorine free, great for the environment. The resort...

The experience at this place is something out of this world. It has been sometime since my visit here however the fresh fragrance of lemon grass plantations or the warm beds or amazing kerala curries still play on my mind. Every time I stepped out of the room there was some spice plantation fragrance. The staff is extremely courteous too....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Spice Village is an eco resort in the hills(thekkady) near the Periyar wildlife sanctuary. A cluster of tribal style huts set in a beautiful spice garden is a great escape for most tourists from the heat of the plains, and also a great place for some adventure activities. We have a comfortable pool, an ayurvedic spa, we organise treks into the forest, bamboo rafting and many more. A walk through the property itself is a great way to explore many aspects of nature and the green initiatives undertaken at this eco resort. ... more   less
