We were welcomed by Rani's delicious pancakes. We had another variety of them next day for breakfast (baked in a banana leaf). We were even allowed to help to make them. Very nice experience! The place is clean and quiet but just 50 meters away from the busy cliff. Rani organised massage for us in the nearby massage centre and...

The room rate was very good, Mummy is absolutely adorable and the location is very convenient. However, our towels and bedsheets were stained, our room wasn't cleaned once in the 3 days we stayed and the laundry service was a disaster (not cheap, and our clothes arrived still wet and not pressed). If you stay there though, don't miss the...

The rooms are very basic and clean, it's a good option for those who are on a bit of a budget. The food that Rani makes is really really good and clean. She makes the most fantastic vegetable thalis and never stops topping them up! The location is also very good as it's right next to the beach! Slightly dissapointed...

I cannot recommend Mummy Bamboo enough. The rooms were spacious and spotless. The location was brilliant and Rani's food - don't get me started! Seriously some of the best I have had in South Asia. We were tempted by the cliff views one night and ate at a tourist spot - we were disappointed - I recommend eating with Rani...

We stayed a few days at Mummy Bamboo House, our room was spotlessly clean as well as the front veranda. Rani provides delicious home cooked Keralan food. She is delightful and most helpful in providing information and guidance without pressuring in any way. Thanks!

Rani and Suddanen made our stay in Varkala, from picking us up early morning at the airport. Rani took care of everything we could ask for. Made tea, would cook lunch or dinner if we wanted and it tasted excellent. The rooms where clean and if there was a problem they solved it. We stayed for three weeks. They also...

Delightful place 2 minutes from the beach. Rani and Sudhanan made me feel like one of the family from the moment I arrived. Tea was free and was offered to me whenever I appeared. Great location and great value. Rani and her beautiful family will make sure you have the best stay in Varkala.

A fantastic place to stay on Varkala Cliff. Only 2 minutes from the beach. The owners are very lovely and made us feel most welcome. There is no hot water shower, but because they boiled water for us instead (for free), we didn't mind at all. The cooking class with Rani was fun and yummy! If we ever come back...

My mother and I stayed at this delightful place and we called it our 'home' in India! Rani and Sudhannan made us feel most welcome and comfortable, nothing was too much trouble. Rani's food was the best we ate on our travels and the room was beautifully clean & comfortable. we liked it so much, we returned after a week...

Stayed at Mummy Bamboo House for the last 3 weeks and now I feel like part of the family. Great location under the palms and a stone throw from the Varkala cliffs, beaches and restaurants. Hammocks outside the rooms and smiles from every angle, this was a hard place to leave (I was only supposed to be staying a couple...
