This is a hard one to rate. Firstly the positives. As all other reviewers have said, this is a undoubtedly a spectacular hotel on a hill with wonderful views all round. Build approx. 8 ? years ago it has captured the grandeur of a heritage building with its marble floors, expansive spaces and lovely ornate features. For that it gets...

What a fabulous hotel. It is spoiled by the fact that you must be super fit to stay here; there are no lifts for the first three floors. It is completely ruined by by its proximity to Gujarat, a dry state. They offer special deals off season, which is very attractive to party animals from the dry state, who have...

This is a superb hotel - an incredible setting, with fabulous staff and customer service. BUT do not even think about booking In here over the weekend when it is full of guests from over the state border in Gujarat, a dry state, who come here with the sole purpose of drinking themselves stupid, being loud obnoxious and aggressive. What...

This is a super hotel, designed to look like an old palace, using artefacts from old sites as well as being newly built. Difficult to describe but it is lovely, open courtyards within the hotel, outdoor corridors, two gorgeous swimming pools, a spa and a hotel shop. Our room had a great view, was large and comfortable and a good...

We (my sibs) wanted to spend quality time with our parents away from home. We visited from March 20 - 24. We fell in love with it as soon as we entered the premises. Open spaces, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the beautiful views! Great ambience! The rooms were very specious, great views of the monsoon fort from...

This was the last stop on an 18 day trip around Rajasthan and we chose the hotel as somewhere to relax for the last few days. At first we thought we had made a mistake as the hotel felt pretty soulless. It has a number of design faults and is not somewhere to stay if you don't like stairs. However,...

For our future guests there are a lot of interesting facts about the hotel which makes us unique. We had an issue with out first room and the staff were extremely accommodating in moving us asap to another room, the breakfast and dinner are on two different floors so make sure you don't go where the dinner is for breakfast, The food and the service were amazing and great views of the city when you eat dinner

Visited recently. Beautiful hill top property with stunning views, well maintained spacious rooms, three pools and plenty of spots to relax. But that said, quite far from Udaipur and that needs to be considered. Definitely needs better management and reception staff. Restaurant service is lacking and food is average. Good option overall, but would prefer lake side properties.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fateh Garh, a Heritage Renaissance Resort - Sanctuary, perched on the edge of Udaipur city in the Aravalli ranges, with 360° commanding views, welcomes guests with style & traditional fanfare. Fateh Garh, a 50 room property offers travelers a spacious, peaceful and quiet refuge from the noisy and crowded urban India. Conde Nast Hot List 2009:- "Until now the best places to stay in Udaipur have been the princely piles on Lake Pichola's shores or its fairy-tale island palace. Fateh Garh offers something different: "Heritage Renaissance" style. Perched on a hilltop 20 minutes outside the city, this newly constructed 51-room hotel incorporates local stone and antique architectural elements culled from abandoned historic buildings. A confection of bulbous domes, sugar-white pillars, crenellations, and intricate jali screens, it escapes the kitschy through its graceful proportions and airy reception areas, courtyard, and verandas—all of which are graced with antiques and delicate frescoes inspired by the style of Rajput miniatures. Lie by the infinity pool, listening to the sound of splashing fountains mingling with live classical shehnai music. The hotel kitchen does best with local Mewari dishes, which are a welcome change from standard Indian hotel fare". ... more   less
