A nice little non-hotel in the heart of city with amazing hospitality. Walking distance to Sim's park. Simple homely food and staff was very cooperative to customize it as per ones need. Do not expect professional hotel type of food. Beautiful flowers in the garden and we got lots of tips and advice about flowers from Geeta. Special mention to...

Good service provided by all the staff in the hotel. Having very less number of rooms and it gives a peaceful stay. It is located in a good proximity from various site seeing places. Very close to SIMS park

Coonoor is full of pretty old bungalows, and this was one of them. Staying here was like getting to stay in the house of an old hill-dwelling aunt, but without the sense of obligation or having to make too much conversation. We stayed in Eucalyptus, which I would highly recommend. One entire wall of the room was glass, and it...

A decent place showcasing old world charm.. The food is average... However the hospitality of the staff is impeccable... They go an extra mile to attend to the guests requirements. Special thanks to Geeta and her team... I can never thank them enough for getting emergency medicines early in the morning when my father complained of chest pain.. Thank you...

Coonoor is in itself filled with old world charm and this hotel simply corroborated it. The building and its furniture was circa 1930 (I imagine) - hardwood floors and solid wooden carved furniture but with the mod-cons of today including wifi. We sat in the front verandah for hours chatting with friends and in the sunroom at the back that...

This is a Neemrana chain 'non-hotel' and has a very laid-back atmosphere. The location up above the town, near Syms Park, was good and the service was non-intrusive but excellent. Part of its charm is that it is a relic from colonial days, but it could do with having a bit of money spent on the chalet rooms.

My room was lovely and the bed comfortable, clean except for mildew on the windows that needs to be cleaned away. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful but not intrusive. Food was tasty though the menu was limited, as one might expect in a small place. Tea making facilities in the room and complementary bottled water were a blessing....

I like hospitality of wallwood especially Geetha who takes care of all with a smile , had visited this place twice. Last time I went there in October 2015,I would love to visit it every year!! Food is average. For food try Hotel Blue Hills Restaurant in Ooty they serve really delicious non-veg.

Nicely presented main building and series of chalet rooms that capture the the colonial life of Coonoor. Set in mature gardens, the hotel benefits from being on the ridge of Coonoor, which provides a more tranquil setting than the town below. Very helpful and attentive staff.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Two hours from Coimbatore, Wallwood – earlier known as Blair Atholl – in the heart of upper Coonoor, was built over a hundred years ago by a Scottish Major General, hailing from the village Blair Athol in Scotland (the Duke of Atholl still lives in Scotland in his own castle). Wallwood was later sold to a British couple after the First World War, who ran it as a boarding house for many years. It was purchased by Liptons before the Second World War and the house has remained in the hands of tea companies – currently with Matheson Bosanquet. The Mansion has retained the atmosphere of the past when tea estates had their own lifestyle! It has its own prize-winning garden of the Nilgiris overlooking a unique pomological garden. It is located two minutes from Sim’s Park, one of India’s most luxuriant Botanical Gardens, laid out in 1874 with over 1200 species of plants and many old rare trees like the Rudraksh, Paperwood, Elephant Leg, Strawberry Tree etc. Savour the wildlife sanctuaries of Ooty, Pykara, Kotagiri & Bandipur, driving through the lush tea plantations of the Nilgiris. ... more   less
