This is our second time at the Chentoor (4 years ago also) after checking out other mid-range hotels in the neighbourhood (and there are many). It is an easy walk from the train station and to the Sri Meenakshi temple. There are wonderful views from the best rooftop restaurant in Madurai and a superb complimentary South Indian breakfast (iddlis, uttapams, pongal, etc. or western) The dinner menu is great South Indian vegetarian and you can have a Kingfisher with it. The beds are comfortable and the water is hot. Our experience with the staff was positive.

Hotel is very near to all the landmark places. Though the hotel street gives a scary thought the rooms are very neat and clean. Hotel staff are helpful. Only downpart i would say is room was small in size, and i found the price to be bit on higher side for Madurai. Everything else was good. Would certainly stay again.

Had vist bar today .the cloak room of bar pathtick condition had highletd to reception guy no response even I called Gm he too not wory about costomer feedback. wash basin full of vomited some one not clean sinece open the bar

i had 2 days stay in chentoor hotel ,i enjoyed a lot ,very happy about that hotel in all ways such as hospitality,service,rooms,rooftop view,bar etc.........,if we stay hear it is easy to reach many places in madurai ,i will advice every one to stay in chentoor hotel

Great 7 story Hotel with best views of the Temples from the rooftop restaurant.
Elevator to all floors with Temple views in Rooms 601,602,501,502,401,402.
Clean good size modernized rooms with clean Bathrooms and Hotwater Showers.
Friendly helpful staff in all hotel service with secure underground parking.

The room that we stayed in was a quite neat and was decent. Of course they provide excellent service which includes Airport Pick up, complimentary breakfast and room service. The hotel is very near the Meenakshi temple which is one of the famous temples in Madurai also from market place. So you can just walk to place around. The only inconvenience we faced was that the room was bit smaller as communicated at the time of booking, but sufficient for two members only, if you are going with your two small Kids then the bed will not be sufficient for all members. Also at the time of booking they assured to provide king size bed which will be sufficient for three adult members, but actually the bed was not sufficient for two adult and 2 kids.

While this hotel in the US would seem filthy, for Madurai its not too bad. We moved here from another, grosser, hotel and stopped in several along the way to check out the rooms. All the hotels looked about the same. The front desk service was decent, but the guy seemed kind of grumpy. The breakfast toast was very good, nice and thick, however they ran out the second day we were there. There is a nice selection of channels on tv. There are bars, hotels, restaurants, and internet cafes on the same street. It is also very close to the train station. There were no cockroaches in our room or in the bathroom which was nice. The bed was ok, not super comfortable, but not uncomfortable either. The room service was terrible though. We tried to order breakfast to our room, but they refused telling us that we have to go to the restaurant.

After a horrible experience in the hotel next door we were happy to find this nice hotel with friendly people at the reception. Especially a Mr. Manohar (a very strikt ex-airforce-man) was really helpful. We stayed at the Chentoor for three nights. In the 5th floor we had a stylish furnished room with a modern clean bath, a new tv and a beautiful view to the famous temple. The rooftop restaurant fortunately has partly a roof-over and a perfect temple view.

The room that we stayed in was quite neat and was decent. The best part about the hotel is its location. It is very near the temple, market place etc. So you can just walk to practically every place around.
