Detailed Reviews

One of the best resorts in Ooty.
Before starting my detailed review, a very high level review - Ooty is a beautiful hill station, but in a highly commercialised hill station like Ooty, getting a panoramic & peaceful place is really challenging. In my past 2 visits I was staying in other resorts near Ooty lake where the view was though good but somehow I was missing the hill station feel. But this resort really made my trip enjoyable.
Reached the resort around 5pm, our Valley view room was ready & in reception staffs were professional & friendly. Within a minute they completed our check in.
Room : spacious & clean room ( geyser, room heater, kettle, mini fridge etc available). We booked for valley view room & view from the room was mesmerising. If they would have planned for a balcony in valley view room, that
View : Ketty valley view was mesmerising, full of clouds and a wide variety of plantations.
On day 2 we enjoyed the sunrise ( if you are staying here, don’t miss the sunrise view ).
On day 3 it was full cloudy, a short morning walk in clouds with singing birds and beautiful flowers was super refreshing.
Food : Now coming to the best part of our stay. A big shout out for Mr Ranjan ( the chef ). He personally was checking with all guests on dinner/ breakfast menu. On day 1 we ordered nonveg food which was really yummy. On 2nd day Mr Ranjan asked us what we want for dinner, we ordered veg food ( jeera rice, aloo jeera, mushroom 65, naan, dal fry , masala papad & raita ), he made the best veg food I have ever tried.
Breakfast also lot of varieties. Mr Prem Kumar was really prompt in service hot food. We liked the vada & sambar on day 1, requested Mr Ranjan to repeat the same on day 2.
( juice, fruits, bread toast, egg omelette, boiled egg, upma, poha, aloo paratha, dosa, vada, idli, poori, aloo sabji, sambar , chutney etc )
I am not sure what else I missed in my review, but in short, my third trip I highly enjoyed because of this resort. I will definitely visit this resort again.
A highly recommended place. Few pics are attached for reference.

Very clean, efficient and friendly hotel. Perfectly located if you want to be away from the Ooty crowds and traffic. Stunning view of Ketti Valley. A special mention about the chef and the amazing south Indian dinner he cooked for us.

This is the worst of holidays I ever had.
There was loud banging of our room doors by someone at 1:30 in the night when we we were sleeping. The family that stayed in the opposite room too had the same experience of banging of doors at night. When we called the reception no one picked the phone. The room service took 10 minutes to reach our room. By then, the person switched off the power to our rooms and left. The previous night someone tried to unlock the door. When we called the reception, it took the security 10-15 minutes to come to the room. God only knows what the hell of a place this was. Both us and the family in the opposite room checked out the next morning. There is no security at all in this place. The location is good. The approach to the place is also not well lit. Be careful when you go there!

We sincerely regret the bad experience you had during your stay at the resort. We want to assure you that your issue was taken up with the staff at the resort and necessary actions have been implemented to prevent such happenings in the future. Actually on that night there were few other guests staying at the resort and one among them was so drunk that he was not able to locate his room and mistook your room as his. However, we apologize for the harrowing experience you went through. The comfort, happiness and safety of our guests is of utmost importance to us. This a rarest of the rare incident that had occurred and we can assure our guests that such incidents will never occur again.

I would first like to highlight on how painful my experience was with Hill Country Lovedale Resort at Ooty.
1) We reached the resort 3 hours after entering Ooty as no one was available to take our calls on their mentioned contact numbers and we wasted 3 hours trying to locate the property.
2) On finally reaching the property we found no one at the reception or the gates finally after 10 Mins someone arrived at the desk to inform us their phone lines were fully functional when we called up the phone line in front of them they realised their phones weren't functional none of the numbers listed on their website.
3) Finally when we were headed to our rooms which was supposed to be a Deluxe premium suite with a view. The room had no view to begin with facing a wall to add to our anxiety for 20 Mins or more which we were in the property there was no power in the room and their power back up wasn't functional either.
We decided to leave the property than avail their services as I don't understand when we have paid for the services of a resort when we arrive to realise there is no power they is no one at the reception to cater to you to check in or help you with directions unless demanded ?
I had called them and requested for a refund as we never availed the services offered as there never met up with the basic expectations a resort has to offer to begin with. They still continue to have the audacity to be non-responsive and take a stance that they aren't at fault !

We sincerely regret the inconvenience faced by you at the resort. However, we would also like to respond to your concerns in order to provide our readers the chance for a better judgement. 1. Ooty experienced heavy rains during the said week and because of that all the telephone lines in the neighborhood wasn't functioning. This is something that is beyond the power of the resort. However, we regret the inconvenience caused. 2. You have mentioned that when you arrived at the reception there was nobody there for almost 10 minutes, this is an exaggeration, there were three staff there in the front-office as well as the back office. 3. You have mentioned that you had booked a Deluxe Premium Suite, here we would like to highlight that we DO NOT have a room category called Deluxe Premium Suite. In fact, you had booked through an online portal a Deluxe Suite and there is no mention about the view during the booking process. However, at the resort you wanted to upgrade to a Premium Suite but you were unwilling to pay the up-gradation charges and wanted the Premium Suite at the price of a Deluxe Suite. You were also offered a 20% discount on the Premium Suite but you had turned it down and was adamant to get the Premium Suite at the price of a Deluxe Suite. 4. While you got to the room there wasn't power and the power back-up was functioning in a couple of minutes unlike what you have mentioned that there was no power for 20 minutes and the power-back wasn't functioning. 5. Every hotel/ resort has certain cancellation and refund policies and so does Hill Country. As per our Cancellation Policy you are not entitled to any refund when you cancel your booking on the day of check-in. We hope this brings clarity to you and to the rest of the readers. Thank you for your feedback, it is important to us.

My wife and I arrived on 18 January 2018. Two men interrogated in us in a tiny room and took our photographs! The hotel was totally empty. We were shown to our old fashioned room at the back of the hotel which had a view of a wall. The rooms at the front of the hotel had magnificent views across the valley, being about 7500 feet up.We asked the manager if we could move to the front but he would not allow it. He told us to phone our travel agent which we did and he agreed to pay the extra to move us to the front. We ate in the small dining room on our own which was very echo-y. The waiter was the porter who had brought our bags to the room. The Indian food was good.It was a surreal experience, not helped by the waiter, who did not speak English, hanging around until we finished our courses. I accidentally knocked a place mat with my plate mat which knocked a side plate on to the floor and smashed it .At breakfast I was served hot milk for my cornflakes both mornings. The place is 3.5 kms from Ooty in the middle of nowhere. Its only redeeming feature is the valley views.
When we checked out, they charged us 250 rupees for the broken plate! (less than £3).
I said I should not be charged but they insisted. As my wife and our driver were impatiently waiting outside the hotel, I decided to pay. A perfect end to a perfect stay at a place at where we never felt comfortable. This was probably one of the worst hotel experiences ever. We will never ever go there again. Visit at your peril.

We have stayed for two nights in Hill Country holiday Resort lovedale, Ooty, The Nilgiris. As the first impression is the best impression, the moment we have entered into the premises we are surprised by the quick check in process. Yes within minutes it is over and we were at Home ( room ). The follow up checks over phone about comfort and immediate needs are nice and a needed one.
The breathtaking Kethi Valley View is stunning and make you spell bound.
The hospitality at restaurant area by the staff makes you feel at home again.
In toto one of the best and affordable stay place for those who needs rest, who loves absolute silence and who can merge with nature's gifts of rich flora and fauna.

we stayed here from 3rd april to 6th April , the moment you enter into this property you get a feel of the valley view. Even though we were little early , they let us check-in and the same during the check-out as well(Late check-out). They serve really good breakfast even though the options are limited but the quality of food is good. The staff specifically the in-charge Vijaylaxmi, she personally ensures that all the guest are treated well.
The only issue i found and i would really like them to improve is on the no.of staff and their responsiveness. The restaurant really needs more staff. You simply cannot ask for a glass of water every time you are seated in a restaurant.

Pathetic service by the staff at Reception.
We made online booking through Makemytrip and paid everything in advance. When we checked in at the hotel at around 11 PM late in the night, the staff said, you have 1 children of 12 years age who will be counted as adult and you have to pay extra for that for 3 nights. When we started telling that we have already paid everything to Makemytrip and there is nothing extra, he was like "You have to pay else you can't get in and will not get the room keys. I bloody paid 65000 already to them and then for 1 child, they are behaving like that.
This is kind of service this hotel provide when some one is checking in late in the night tired, after such a long travel.
HIGHLY DISSATISFIED AND UNEXPECTED SERVICE. WILL NEVER EVER RCOMMENED THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE

Weather should be reasonably pleasant in April I would guess.
As for the rooms. All of them have room heaters and electric geysers for hot water in bathroom.
In room food service is way too expensive and there is No bar. They can arrange upon request though.
I guess the resort helps in doing it. We went in our own car, so did not use it
