A fine place to stay. Close to the (bus-)station; very quiet, lovely views; Rooms are basic and simpel but clean. Warm water only in morning as of 7 o'clock. Breakfast not included but can be ordered+ is simple though.
I really would go back again.
Wifi (not in room; only in lobby)

Location is good. It overlooks the lake and is walking distance (200m west) from the central bus station. There is a nice terrassed area when you can sit and get a view. A common area in the main house is also socialable.

Rooms are decent with hot water available in the mornings.

Breakfast is not included. The food is fine, although there are better options in town.

The owner is friendly, organised and helpful. The rest of the staff only speak a little english.

We stayed for 4 nights at reflections and found it to be a really good budget guest house. It is out of the main town a bit - on the plus side, this means it is quiet, but it is a bit of a hike into the main town to find an internet cafe etc, but we didn't mind. It overlooks the lake, so sitting outside our room in the afternoons we had a lovely view and it was very relaxed. Don't be put off by the mixed review in Lonely Planet in regards to the service, we found the manager and staff to all be really helpful. It is very well run, you can get food there at any time until 8.30PM and all the costs of everything are clearly indicated on the menus, so it is very convenient. Our room was clean, a little small, but we paid 600Rs a night, so we were happy with our room for that price (breakfast and other food etc extra). You get hot water for showers in the morning, which is essential in Ooty, as it can get chilly! Our room was warm at night. So overall it was a nice place to stay.

We had the room on the ground floor.
It was not clean and really small and TV not working.
The guest house has wifi with really poor reception in the common areas, the owner installed it in her office instead.
And the atmosphere is realy bad.
But the worst is that WE HAD THE WORTH FOOD EVER we had during our entire trip!!
We ordered veg noodles and after 20 min we got pot noodles!!

This is by far the worst hotel we have stayed in during our 3 weeks in India (we have stayed in some pretty bad places).

The room itself was ok except the bed was rock solid, there were gaps in all the windows (in ac room) so tons of mosquitos and there was no toilet paper (unless you purchased it for 30 rupees) or jet gun.

The service was the real problem, 'madam' as her minions called her, tried to charge us almost double for our breakfast claiming we had eaten stuff that we most definitely didn't. The wi fi is absolutely appalling and may aswell not exist. We asked her to help us book a taxi to Cochin (which she has advertised as a service in the welcome brochure), she phoned one person and then told us it's not possible (we walked 100m down the road and booked one for half the price she was suggesting if her taxi guy was available). We then asked if we could leave our bags at the hotel for an hour after we checked out, she charged us 100 rupees (not a safe location, right in the middle of the dining room).

This hotel is purely riding on the fact that it is on lonely planet though I think if they were to return and see how arrogant 'madam' has become, they would take it off immediately and replace it with one of the other genuinely caring guesthouses in Ooty.

We spent 3 nights here. Lovely guesthouse , with small garden to socialise in & dining room in evening. Food not wonderful but nice to meet other travellers. Near by they have just opened a new dinosaur park so we were woken one morning by the murmurings of dinosaurs! Not too noisy though especially compared to the traffic elsewhere. Thoroughly recommend. Not far from the station.

There are not a lot of choices in Ooty at the reasonable price level. This is why I have given this guest house 5 star excellence - not because it can match the high end accommodation, but because if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation it is hard to beat Reflections Guest House.

The rooms up the back are the best. True, you do have to climb some steps to reach this, but there are railings for most of the way outside, and if you need railings all the way, you can come up through the main building for the first section. But being able to sit on the little garden terrace overlooking the lake is a real pleasure.

The rooms are small, but we found them adequate for two of us. There is hot water every morning from 7:30 to 8:30, which is perfect, but the water remains hot after that for some time. We found the room clean, the sheets clean, and the bathroom clean. Those claiming the rooms are dirty surely haven't travelled much in India - we have, and these rooms are certainly of the better quality compared to most at this price. We had no complaints about the rooms, sleep quality or facilities. The only suggestion I could make, would be to change the mattresses more often, as foam mattresses eventually lose their resilience.

The staff were always helpful and friendly. Prabu was a source of all kinds of info and help. Desiree and her mother Rachel, were always friendly and helpful, and Desiree made delicious biscuits and cakes.

Food: we ate breakfast at the guest house every morning, and it was excellent. Chai and coffee, as well as snacks, were available throughout the day. We ate dinner there also, and it was fine, although not as good as restaurant fare. There are restaurants right outside the guest house - on both sides. There are three actually, right there next door. One, the City Palace, was probably the best if you were looking for standard Indian food.

If you are after finer dining, then an Rs 80 rickshaw trip up to Charring Cross brings you to Junior Kuppanna and A2B restaurants, which are both excellent eateries.

Ooty is a shadow of its former self, but if you have decided to seek out some cooler hill weather, then staying at Reflections does offer a pleasant respite from the crowded, cramped and busy streets of Ooty. It was such a pleasure to retreat to Reflections after battling the traffic and terrible pot-holed roads and side walks while struggling to visit what few charms Ooty still offers.

Hills weather is always unpredictable, but sitting on the garden terrace in clement weather, looking out over the water and trees of Ooty Lake, was certainly a real pleasure.

Auto rickshaws are always passing the guest house, as they come from the boat house down the road a little, so there is no wait to catch one of those. There is a taxi stand just a few minutes up the road at the roundabout, the bus station is around to the right, and the train station around to the left from the Rajiv Gandhi roundabout - all very close. Walking to Charring Cross is a reasonable distance for a good walk - best to take the Main Bazaar Road which is one street up and parallel to Commercial Road - more interesting, and comes out onto Commercial Road just where the walk-able sidewalks begin.

Lovely place to stay - 5-10 minutes from train and bus stations and the centre of town but on a really quiet road overlooking the lake. Communal lounge and dining area great for meeting other travelers and the lawn area with seats overlooking the lake is beautiful. Hot water in the mornings, rooms very comfortable and clean. Food served on request all day, trekking is bookable through the gusethouse. The women that run the place are lovely and friendly and helpful. All for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend staying here!

We arrived at Ooty at 8pm and headed to the Hotel Sweekar, where we had a reservation - we turned up and it was just awful - so we hot-footed it to Reflections, and here, we were offered a basic room, but it was clean, and had hot water, and was generally good value for money. The ladies of the house looked after us very well, recommending us a day of trekking in the Ooty countryside (much better than Ooty town!) and we had a fantastic day. Reflections also offers simple, home cooked meals, and we ate all our meals here - we spent more money on food than the room when we came to settle up! So, all in all, basic - but good value for the price you pay, and good food. Speaking to other guests who had rooms high up, their rooms came with TV's and views of the lake - so if you go here, it is probably best to reserve in advance and try and get one of these. The common room has a fire place (fire wood has to be paid for, but easily shared with others), and was a great place to meet other travellers.
